1 The Birth of the Cursed

**The greatest beauty that was born of blood and death. **

That was often used to describe me, Daiyu, the forsaken and the cursed.

My parents have been serving the gods all their life. They are guardians, humans who are almost god-like, nearly immortal and can live for tens and hundreds of years. It is decided, that after I was born, I will be sent to the Heavens and learn how to be a goddess. I was supposed to be worshipped and praised. It was also predicted that I am going to be the greatest beauty the Heavens and mankind have even seen.

Unfortunately, this is not what happened. You see, before the day that I was born, it was revealed that one of my assigned godmother, the goddess Fate, and my father has been having an affair behind my mother's back. My father has been tempted by the promises of wealth and greatness that the goddess has promised him. The other gods knew the existence of this affair but turned a blind eye on it.

The minor goddesses took pity on my mother and told her everything. My father and her friend's betrayal has broken her heart. She was immediately consumed by anger and jealousy. In a fit of rage, my fully pregnant mother went to the holy altar to get the guardian spear, a gift given by the gods and the only weapon that can be used to kill one of them. She sneaked on them and pierced their heart in one swoop, killing them instantly.

At that moment, she has also lost her humanity. To be able to effectively kill a god, one has to make a pact with the guardian spear and sacrifice her soul. Having no soul in her human body, this turned my mother into a disfigured human shell - thirsty for blood. She used the guardian spear to slowly cut the goddess' and father's chest open, taking out their hearts. She took one heart on each hand and started devouring them, quenching the undying thirst that she has since activated when she killed them.

This is the scene that the great gods and goddesses of Heaven witnessed. My mother, mouth dripping with blood, biting and chewing the hearts of a goddess and a guardian. They are so appalled and disgusted with what they have seen that they cursed my mother to die of childbirth and never be born again. The child, me, who they have been expecting to join them in Heavens has been cursed as well.

**Every man that I will love will die. **

I was banished to live on the farthest north, where it is cold and freezing all year round and sunshine only comes once a year. This is no place for a human but the best place where I will not put anyone in danger. They have assigned guardian women to serve me. Gold and other resources are provided on a weekly basis, giving me no reason to ever go out on my own. I was forced to live inside a fortress, to lock me and my curse, away from humanity forever.
