7 Chapter 7

The grand hall went quiet as the old man stood proud in front. No one dared to whisper nor made a noise. He walked in a slow paced as his cane tic tac on the floor.

Samantha did not manage to see clearly the old man. She was not that tall that it was difficult for her when tall people blocking her view.

The old man passed through the visitors and went to his grandchildren. At that point, Samantha froze.

She kept staring at the old man. She didn't know what should she do. She turned to look at Charles. He had a bright smile and pulled her toward the old man. As every step counting, she could feel her heart pounding fast and hard. Her feet was dragging as of a chain ball was around her feet.

The old man laughed as he saw them together. Samantha jumped in fear. "My... my..." he tapped her shoulder. She could only look down in fear. "I never thought my grandson will have someone in mind" he laughed, "and its you" he whispered. Immediately, she looked up to see if Charles heard him. But he didn't.

"Why not you youngster dance together as this old man just watch" he said.

Charles gave out his hand as he offered to dance. Everyone stare made her uncomfortable. Charles was well aware of it that he did not wait for her to respond. He gently escorted her to the middle of the dance floor. He smiled at her as she cautiously watched at the side.

He had prop up as the music started slowly. Everyone, as well, went to the dance floor as they offered their partners. "What is wrong?" Charles asked as her head leaned to his chest as if listening to his chest intently.

"Nothing" she said, "Charles, you knew right?" she asked as her head try to connect the dots.

"Yes," he said,

they danced in circles. "I first saw you when you went to our house unknowingly of the outcome. You might not remember me, I was at the corner when Jeremy broke up with you" he stated.

She smirked sadly as she remembered that crashing moment of her life. Her family had just encounter downfall and Jeremy was the only person left for her to lean on, but at that time, she ended on the floor to cry in despair.

"I never knew how you feel..." he paused, "Actually, it was a first I saw someone in great pain. I never understood how you feel" he added.

"Since then, I keep wondering how you have been? did you manage to get it over?" he leaned his head to her.

"That is how I ended to see you at the convenient store" he chuckled, "It was my first entering the store, I knew nothing how I should approach you. Its first" he added.

Samantha pained.

When the dance was over, Samantha excused herself.

After few hours, Charles wandered as he was looking for Samantha. But he could not find her. He tried to call her but her line was unavailable. "Jeremy," he called,

"What is it sir?"

"Where is she?"

"I am not well aware sir"

Ping.

A message came from Charles' phone

Samantha's Message

Charles

I left the key under the mat

good bye and take care
