It was her mother that caused her to be in this situation so she had to use her mother to get herself out of the predicament.

Enzo was still weeping beside her. He looked so broken and devastated. His hair was disheveled and his clothes were wrinkled.

Honestly, she twisted some of her words to make him feel guilty. Enzo's mindset was somehow stuck in the past. His mind would lean on between the past and present. He would sometimes see her as her mother or as Jillyanna.
