4 Chapter 3

Moniqua and Angelique were walking to class in their uniforms, which for the girls were a proper school girl uniform plus a little bit of flare, when the cops arrived to ask questions. That certainly brought in a lot of rumors.

"Ms. Quesada, can we ask you a few questions?" A cop, detective, came by and asked her.

"About what, officer?" She lied. She knew about what.

"A reporting company sent someone here yesterday and we got a report that she didn't come back."

"Oh? Uh, I didn't see anyone here last night. Did you?" Angelique asked, her tone in fake concern.

"No, maybe try asking the others?" Moniqua suggested.

The detective nodded, "Alright, we'll ask you some more questions later."

They continued walking to class to see that they were already late. Everyone else was in class with their teacher.

"Ms. Jones, why are there cops outside?" Angelique asked.

"I'm not sure. They said something about a reporter gone missing?" Ms. Jones looked around the class, looking for a suspicious face.

Thankfully, those lying lessons last night did well. Everyone put on a face of fake confusion while Isaac and Lucifer still looked as emotionless as ever. Caroline did well too. Last night she stayed up with Scarlett to work on her expression and heartbeat while lying.

"Alright, let's just start class today, yeah?" Everyone nodded as Angelique and Moniqua took as seat.

Charis only has 5 teachers at most and dozens of maids, all different jobs. Their teachers have to be classified as a genius to teach. Right now, they're learning about publicity stunts and covering up rumors. Luckily, that would very much be useful considering the situation they are in.

By the time for lunch, the maids have prepared them all kinds of different kinds of sandwiches and wraps. They all sat on the table in the middle of the room. The teachers always leave them alone for lunch, luckily they don't supervise the dormitory building with cameras either.

"The cops are here?" Caroline asked worriedly.

"They arrived quicker than expected. Do you think that the reporter woman had a tracking device or a hidden camera on her?" Kaiden asked them.

Natasha shook her head, "I doubt it. But she could've brought a bag and her phone can be tracked, right?"

Marcel looked at her with concern for a split moment, "Maybe. But where could she have put it?"

"Maybe she hid it somewhere?" Angelique suggested.

They went quiet, thinking of where she could've put her phone or bag. You could almost see the gears shifting in their heads.

"What did you tell the cops this morning? Did you tell them that you didn't see anyone or that no one came here?" Scarlett asked Moniqua and Angelique.

"We told them we didn't see anyone," Moniqua answered.

"Good, that way they'll think she arrived here and is staying hidden," Scarlett said.

A phone rang, Zach's phone. "Yes, father?"

"Zach, why are there rumors of a missing reporter who went to your school?" His father asked, his tone demanding an answer.

Zach didn't hesitate to answer, "I'm not sure, father. The police are here now and they're investigating."

"What happened? Did you see anyone unusual at school yesterday?"

"No, father."

"Alright, tell me if you find out anything," Zach's father said.

"Yes, father," His dad hung up first.

"Good job, Zach," Isaac pat his back.

He looked at Isaac with a confused look, "What do you mean?"

"You did not hesitate or answer too quickly. It makes him believe that you're telling the truth," Scarlett answered for him.

"Oh, alright. Thanks," He said with a nod.

They continued talking for a while until a policewoman came by the door.

"Yes?" Kaiden said.

"We would like to ask each of you some questions regarding the missing person's report of Ms. Alexandra Collins. We've gotten permission from the headmaster for you to take the afternoon off."

"Oh, alright," Marcel agreed.

"Ms. Arrington, would you follow me?" She asked and Caroline nodded before following her out of the room. They looked at each other in hidden worry, knowing Caroline could either do well or mess it all up.

"Have a seat. Calm down, we're only going to ask you some questions about last night."

Caroline nodded silently as she took a seat in front of the detective. She kept a straight face like Scarlett told her to do, but she couldn't calm her heartbeat as much.

'Why do I have to go first?' She thought.

"Ms. Arrington, what were you doing last night between 6 to 8?" The policewoman asked.

"We were having a get-together in the main hall."

"Did you see any unusual behavior from your friends?"

'Play dumb but not too dumb.'

"I'm not sure," She said, looking as if she's trying to recall last nights events.

"Were you drunk?"

Caroline shook her head, "I don't drink. I left early to get some board games with Marcel. When we got back from his room, Dom and Luca were fighting about Luca touching his sister though that's just Scarlett playing with him. Nothing unusual, Dom is very protective of his sister. We played games and danced all night."

The policewoman nodded her head, "Alright, then." She stood up and opened the door for Caroline then followed behind her.

"Ms. Cabalerro, did you see anything unusual last night?" The policewoman, Detective Bassi as they have just been told, asked.

"No, I don't think so."

"Ms. Arrington told us that there was a fight between Mr. Yang and Mr. Williams. What were you doing while that was happening?"

"I was talking to Natasha. We heard some noise and went over to stop it. Then everything went back to normal and we played some games and danced. At about 2 o'clock, we went back to our dorms, and Natasha and I watched The Lion King."

"Nothing else?"

Leonora shook her head, "No. I'm sorry, I wish I could help."

"Thank you."

'That was close. She's probably gonna ask Isaac next.'

"Mr. Calloway, did you see the fight between your friends last night?"

"The fight between Luca and Dom? No." Isaac shook his head. "But Zach told me about it."

"Right. Where were you when that was happening?"

"I was outside, getting some fresh air. They turned the heater up too far."

'And Scarlett was wearing a short dress.'

"Did you see anyone while you were outside?" She asked.

"No, Ma'am. But you should probably start asking different questions. We all saw or heard about the simple fight and it's not really of a big deal."

Detective Bassi nodded her head and motioned for him to leave.

"Will you be questioning all of us?" Kaiden asked as he sat down.

"Yes. What did you do last night?"

"I was playing games with my friends."

"Did you drink anything?" She asked.

"Yeah," He nodded slowly. "Water and soda."

"Any alcoholic drinks?"

Kaiden shook his head, "No. I'm not legal to drink yet."

"What were you doing when Mr. Williams and Mr. Yang fought?"

"I was with Zach, then he went over there to ask what happened." He explained.

"Did you see anything? Anything at all about Ms. Collins?"

"No, Ma'am. I was in the main hall with everyone else all night until about 2 or 3." Kaiden said.

"Ms. Ivanov, Ms. Cabalerro told me that you two stopped the fight between Mr. Yang and Mr. Williams."

"Yes. Though, that's nothing special. We stop most of the fights between the boys before anything more happens." Natasha nodded her head.

Detective Bassi hummed in agreement, "Did you drink last night?"

"Only a little, not enough to make me drunk."

"Do you remember last night well?"

"Yes. We played some games like Never Have I Ever and Jenga. But we didn't use alcoholic drinks, we used water."

"Anything else?"

"Well, when we got back to our dorms at about 2 or something, we watched a movie. And by we, I mean Leonora and I."

'We obviously didn't watch a movie.'

"Did you hear or see anything after 2?"

"No, Ma'am."

"Mr. King, explain to me briefly about everything that happened last night." Detective Bassi asked Marcel.

"Well, not much happened. I was with Caroline, getting some board games from my room. When we got upstairs, Dom and Luca were fighting but that's not unusual. We played some games and went to sleep."

'And killed someone but that's not the point.'

"Did you see or hear anything before going to bed?"

"No. But why did you think she went missing here?"

"There was a tracker in her car, put there for safety measures. The car was found a couple blocks down."

Marcel nodded his head. "Alright."

"You may go now."
