15 Chapter 14

As the figure approached him, he realized that it wasn't his long-gone mother.

"Luce?" The person asked, looking down at him who's laying down on the ground when he noticed that it wasn't ground after all.

"J-Jack?" He asked, scared. And in just a split of a second, Jack disappeared and a calming darkness surrounded him.

"Detective!" Marcel caught Bassi's hand.

"Mr. King, I need to go after Victoria," The detective said, releasing herself from his grip.

Marcel quickly took her back, "We found another body in the forest," He said in hushed tones.

Detective Bassi's eyes widened, and she quickly ran out the back door, to the forest. Marcel followed her curtly, then leading the way to Isaac.

By the time they got there, Isaac was guarded. His focus was precise as he looked around the forest, then to the body.

Examining him, Isaac found out that the victim was young, 25 as Isaac predicted, and that he was most likely to be killed by the same person who killed Jackie Clevona.

"Isaac!" Marcel called him as he ran, with the detective a few steps behind. He reached Isaac, panting slightly but the sweat coating his dark skin glistened below the moonlight, making him look almost heavenly.

Isaac glanced at him, then noticing the detective behind him.

Bassi squatted down to look at the body, "Male, mid-twenties, possibly a colleague of Jackie and Alexandra," She stated.

"Yes, I've figured that much, and cause of death: internal bleeding and broken bones, the same way both of them died," Isaac said.

Just as Isaac said that they heard a bang-like sound of a gun from the main building followed by Victoria Collins calling out Lucifer's name.

"Is that Victoria Collins?" Isaac asked Detective Bassi as she immediately ran towards the source of the noise.

Marcel and Isaac followed suit, heart thumping, and worried about their friend. Isaac gasped as he neared them, seeing blood pooling below Lucifer's body.

Doing the math in his head, Marcel quickly pulled out a gun and shot to the direction where the bullet came from.

"YOU FUCKING BASTARD!" Marcel shouted through the air, with tears rolling down his cheeks and anger filling his eyes. He ran toward the forest, leaving them behind with the desire to torture, not kill. In his head, he thought to himself, that anyone who hurt Lucifer doesn't deserve to die.

"Luce? Lucifer?" Isaac whispered, holding Lucifer's body close as he put his head on his chest, trying to find a heartbeat.

Bassi had called the school's private healthcare, now she's just waiting for the doctor and nurses to come and save him. The detective reached for Lucifer's wrist, feeling for a pulse, which he very weakly had.

Glancing up, she saw them coming and quickly held Isaac up, "They're here. Don't worry, he'll be alright. The bullet missed, he's alright," She whispered to him, trying to calm him down.

Isaac's breaths were rugged and uneven, shaky and filled with never-ending fear as he watched his brother being taken away.

Dominique ran toward the man that Isaac had told him about, with thoughts flying in his head and his heart thumping loudly. As he neared, the man was slowing, then he reached for something in his pocket.

Dominique's eyes widened as he saw what it is, a gun. The man turned and faced him, his face was recognizable.

"Avery?" He asked, or stated, with his voice quivering.

Who's Avery, you ask? He's an old classmate, and an absolute dick. And for that reason, he was kicked out.

"Dom, you better turn around right now, unless you want me to pull this trigger," Avery said.

"Avery, don't do this. You wouldn't do this," Dominique said, putting his hands up.

"Then turn. The fuck. Around!" His hand that was holding the gun was shaking, showing weakness that Dominique was relieved to know he still had.

"No," He said strongly.

"Dominique, please!"

"Put the gun down, Av," Dominique's voice was strong, yet calm.

"I can't, I can't. You choose, Dom," Avery said with tears brimming in his eyes.

"Choose what?" He asked quietly, watching Avery's head shake frantically. "Choose what, Avery?" He shouted.

"It's your life or his," He stated, pointing his gun toward Lucifer, in the middle of the forest, looking for Victoria Collins.

"You're making me choose?"

"I'm sorry, Dom. It's just the way it works," Avery answered.

"Avery, you don't have to do this. You don't have to kill someone," Dominique said, trying to reason with him.

He laughed. "Oh, but I already did, brother. Who do you think has been throwing people out of buildings?"

Dominique stayed quiet, letting him continue with his confession.

"Now choose, Dominique."

His eyes flickered towards Lucifer, now walking toward the main building with Victoria by his side. Without a second thought, he answered.

"Kill him."

Avery's gun pointed to Lucifer and he pulled the trigger. BANG, it goes, and so does his life.

His head spun around to meet him and a bullet hit him on the shoulder, making him cry out in pain.

"YOU FUCKING BASTARD!" Dominique heard Marcel shout and then his footsteps have gotten closer to them. "DOMINIQUE!"

Avery was unable to say something as Marcel stood in front of him, a gun to his head, but reaching to his hand and crushing it, making shout again.

"Marcel, calm down," He put his hands on his chest comfortingly.

"HE KILLED HIM! HE KILLED LUCIFER! HE-" A sob broke through him as he looked at the man on the ground.

The guilt hit him like a tsunami wave, for he knew that he was the one who valued his own life more than his friend's.

"Marcel," He whispered, unable to say anything else. Marcel ignored him, shooting Avery on both of his legs, then breaking his arm and hitting his head against a tree multiple times, until he was dead and Marcel fell down, the anger and pain heavy against his chest and his breathing became ragged and uneven.

"How did this happen, Dominique? H-How did he just kill him? How? Why?" Marcel pleaded, looking up at the night sky.

"I-I I don't know," He whispered, though he knew exactly why. And now, he had the blood of 2 people on his hands. "Marcel," He whispered once more as he watched Marcel break down, and that is when he knew of how badly he messed up.

Lucifer was surrounded in darkness. And it was calming to him.

First, it was nothing, then the white smokes of cigarettes surrounded him, with the scent that he had gotten oh-so used to.

"JACK!" He called. "Jack, where'd you go?"

Looking around the darkness once again, he found the bright light that he was supposed to walk into, and so he did. He kept walking, closer and closer to the light, until it vanished and he was surrounded by darkness once again.

And then he woke up. In the doctor's office, in the main building, at Charis Institute, alive.

Slowly, he moved his hand up but felt something holding it down. He turned his head to the side to see Isaac holding Lucifer's hand which brings a soft smile on his lips.

"Isaac," He said softly, feeling his dry throat.

Isaac opened his red eyes and looked at Lucifer, who's pale and lifeless. He sighed and leaned back to his chair to fall asleep once more.

"Isaac?" Lucifer said once more. Seeing that this time he didn't respond, Lucifer tried to lift his other hand, which was unable to move too.

"What the?" He asked himself as he tried to lift his leg this time. Unsuccessful. His body. Unsuccessful.

Then he screamed, hoping for someone to hear him. "Someone wake me up!" He shouted into nothing.

"Please," He whispered, feeling hopeless once again.
