3 Is he ever normal?

The Inn lady already prepared a feast for them since her daughter told her about their deed. She wanted to express her gratitude for everything they had done for her.

Luffy would never miss a free meal but he also wanted to talk to me at the same time, so he did. He sat down, yoinked some food in his mouth and started talking, "So what about it now. Do you join us too? Zoro joined me already just as I told you hihihi."

Zoro who sat down next to his captain started to twitch with his eyebrow when he heard him as he was basically forced to join him. He looked very much in pain as he kept quiet, waiting to see how it was going to play out.

While Luffy spoke he spitted some food in my direction. It was disgusting so I had to dodge every single one of them. It made me a little bit pissed but I calmed down and answered him with a question,

"Can you not speak while you eat? Also Zoro gained his life by joining you but what is in for me? I know you're searching for the One Piece, you ate a devil's fruit and your name is Luffy but otherwise I literally know nothing about you! What benefits do I gain by joining you?"

Luffy didn't stop eating but still told me an answer, "You will be part of the best crew that this world has ever seen. It's going to be fun."

He ate, spoke and grinned at the same time. I was somehow amazed but I just couldn't find out why I even thought about joining without getting any benefit at all. It didn't make any sense.

I couldn't even remember the last time I even considered something that didn't archiv any purpose. I drifted away in my thoughts and Luffy ate while waiting for an answer.

Zoro finished his plates and used the break in our conversation to gather information about his potential crew, their gear and goal, "You guys want to find One Piece? Do you even know what you are talking about? What did I get myself into?" He struggled with himself before he asked further questions, "Who else is in this crew?"

Luffy gave him a knowing grin and skipped his first questions, "As for now. It's just you and me." While pointing at him and then himself, "But I want him in our crew too. He is a ninja. Soo cool. Then we just need a navigator, doctor and musician. This will be so good. Hihihi"

Zoro gave in to his faith at that point. Knowing he wouldn't be able to talk to Luffy with common sense. Nothing about him was normal at all.

I broke out of my thoughts, "Well, I don't see any merits in joining you right now, Luffy. Maybe we will meet again and by then you actually have something to offer."

Luffy still just grinned, "Sure, We meet again, I can feel it. See you next time and my offer still stands. Sooner or later you will join us."

I was concerned about his certainty because I didn't know where it came from. In addition, he was not alone with this thought. I actually believed in it myself. That's why I wanted to put some distance between us for the time being, because it made me feel more and more uncomfortable.

I got up and made my way out of the Inn as they planned their next steps in their adventure.

It would be rude to stay back without being part of the group as I just denied him but I had gained a lot of information that I had to process, so it was fine.

Zoro seemed less scary and threatening than the stories make him out to be. He also seems to have a softer core than it would have suggested. Throughout the whole time he just followed our conversation without being rude in any way.

But he is just as observant as Luffy. On our first meeting, I didn't notice but now after our first real conservation, I felt like he knew me. It felt like he could see through my character by instinct. It even scared me that I didn't realise it at our first meeting.

This feeling didn't let me rest. I had to observe him more. I had to know more about him.

Waiting on a corner I spied on them through a window of the Inn. Trying to figure out their next target.

They spended a long time planning before the Inn got surrounded by marines.

Coby was exceedingly anxious as they just broke Zoro out of his execution. He was afraid of the aftermath. Luffy and Zoro on the other side didn't seem to care that much.

The Navy spreaded inside of the building. They wanted to chase them away, but they didn't seem to make any efforts to arrest them. To express their gratitude for taking care of their tyrannical boss and end the suffering of the residents. But they also had to uphold their position as marines.

Luffy played a horrible role as a lousy pirate and took the blame, while pushing Coby out of the group so Coby could join the Navy to realize his dream.

I couldn't make out his words as I really wished that I learned to read lips.

Coby didn't seem to realize Luffy's endeavour until it was all over, but they were already on our way to Luffy's sailing ship. But I would like to describe this as a nutshell. Mine wasn't much better, but it was much more pleasant and more spacious.

Also, mine had a toilet, which was a relief for me as I didn't join him for the time being. I tried to find out what they were up to. If those two would notice me or if I would figure out what makes them so special.

At first, I thought Luffy and Zoro knew what they were doing. As they did take their time to plan everything out. Zoro was famous for a while; He did seem experienced on sea, after a while I wondered how he even lived to this day.

He must have relied on his luck. He is the first person I have ever met who has managed to steer in a circle in front of an island without noticing it.

Luffy wasn't much better either. Unlike Zoro, he simply steered in one direction in the hope of eventually finding land.

After some time, I realized this. I took the navigation in my hand instead of following them from a safe distance. I couldn't interpret the weather, but at least I could determine the right direction.

I sailed for a few days in the direction of the nearest island in the hope they would find the way there as I noticed that my provisions were not sufficient. It shouldn't be any different for them.

I was curious about them but I wasn't ready to starve once more just because they were to stupid to navigate.

I felt a little bit sorry for Zoro as he just starved for a month just to be in the same situation once more and I knew it wasn't a good feeling.

It felt a bit strange as the next Island was empty. I wasn't comfortable leaving my boot at the harbor.

For safety I made a trip around the island to get a new perspective about what was going on but I didn't want to expose myself more than necessary, so I used my pedal. It was a very slow process but it paid off.

A bit further away from the village was another primitive village. The original village was occupied by a pirate group.

I decided to hide my boat on an uninhabited side and sneak into the village to steal some food before I plan my next step on the trip.

The doors to the houses were open so I didn't even have to break in to search for food. Most of those had left overs as they were left their homes in a rush.

When I finished my raid for food and brought it back to the ship, I was surprised to see Luffy who was stuck in a bird's beak flying over the village screaming for help.

He didn't seem to like normal appearances. Everytime I met him, he had to do something special. His screams didn't go unnoticed as those pirates shot the bird down.

Still wondering how he got in this situation, in the first place I was somehow glad that I rejected his offer to join him but I also was glad he came to catch my attention.

Just a little bit later a canon was shot off the main building in the city.

Several houses were smashed and destroyed with just one cannonball.

If Luffy didn't pull that stunt I would probably still be in one of those.

As I reached Luffy I noticed an orange haired girl. She smeared some pirates on Luffy before she climbed on the roof to watch the scene play out.

She didn't give the impression that she knew him as she couldn't even reach her hiding spot before Luffy already knocked them out.
