35 Basic magic

I had a plan, I was already completely trained in using my knives. I could work on my knives themselves but they worked for now.

I had two things I could do, I could learn how to use Astral projection or I could learn a few basic spells and expand my fighting style.

I went with the magic route, thus I went to go find the only actual mage I knew, Emily, Nora's friend.

Entering the dorms I found her in the training hall training on her own. The dorms were extremely empty, like everyone had left.

"Oh mister Homer, I hoped I could talk in the next two days, I need your help."

I chuckled, it seemed we would both be able to help each other. "And I need yours, what do you need me for?"

She apparently wanted me to help her understand chantless casting.

"So, what did you need me for, mister?"

I explained what it was that I needed and she looked up in surprise. "I wouldn't have expected you to be one of those that had only been taught advanced magic, I could give you these books for, let's say three hours of lecturing me, does that sound good?"

I agreed with her terms, I mean, no harm in helping someone learn how to coax. I immediately found what she was doing wrong, she tried to command the elements, not to gently ask them to do something.

I don't know exactly how it worked but the elements had a mind of their own and they would always listen to someone asking them to do something and resist a command. Once I explained this to her she started instinctively moving them around.

"Amazing, I can move around the same amount as when I just chant."

When I heard that, I was surprised because she moved around about one percent of what I could, How unnatural am I. I mean, the average person can lift about one ton and I could lift at least double that with ease so I knew I was stronger physically but I didn't expect that I was that much stronger magically.

After helping her some more I found out that training using coaxing made you able to move more and more magical particles, so I wasn't abnormal, it was the same like with my strength, stronger but not impossible to train.

Afterwards, I got what I came for and left for my mansion. One of the things I had was peace and quiet so I thought it would be a good place to study. I also had been doing the whole flooding my arm with void thing furthering the transformation.

I started practicing the magic and I got a hang of it pretty quickly. Turns out that when you learn how to use something of the difficulty of reality bending symbols, using the lower types is easy. You could compare it to learning highly advanced math and then having to do simple calculations, you'll need a little time to adjust but it's easy to get the hang of.

I had done that in a day, I could now use basic spells like Lightning, Fireball, Watersphere, Windblade and Earthshot.

So, I started practicing using astral projection and I still couldn't figure it out, it was ike I was missing something but I couldn't figure out what.

At least I was prepared for what was to come.

----Nora--------------------------------------------

I had been training for a day and had already made a significant improvement in the way I punched, the amount of strength I used in my punches, things like that. It was weird how good that old man knew how to use his fists. I hadn't expected that changing your movement could improve the amount of strength you could exert.

The only problem, my last punch had been one where I had used everything I had in me and I had ... I had completely shattered my gauntlets.

Because I didn't know what to do I went to the armory. The elevator stopped with a satisfying ping and when I walked out, my jaw dropped. What I saw where rows upon rows of unique weapons, artifacts, suits and a few other things.

this place might have been even bigger than the lobby, also, that made me want to know where they got the space to do thing like this. I was approached by a muscular man, his muscles coiling with each movement.

"How can I help you?" His voice was surprisingly average, I had thought it would be gruff but it was a pleasant bass.

"I broke my gauntlets ..." I looked up to him with an apologetic look, he looked at my gauntlets with surprise.

"Those were made with the strongest material I can personally work with, you're gonna have to take it up with the big boss."
