36 The brunch - II

Salvatore slept late last night. The blame would be on the pending work on his father's side but once again Salvatore would not be an idiot to point out the mistakes of Angela even if he was his son.

Other than that, the only thing that bothered him now was he had slept late which when he was late. He did not wake up on his usual time and it irked him. His entire day was going to be messed up by the looks of it.

Salvatore rubbed his cheek gradually before standing up and walking to his calender only to hiss back in shock. Today was the day of brunch. The brunch happened once a month between his father's family and that of his brothers.

"Fuck," cursed under his breath. He had completely forgotten about that.

His eyes went to the watch on his bedside table. It was fifteen minutes past ten and he had to be there by eleven nevermind the ride of half an hour at least.

Salvatore choosing to live in a penthouse in populated area where his offices and places of business work closer. His parents had decided to stay in the mansion at the outskirts where he has grown up.

Without waiting for a second to pass in waste Salvatore walked into his bathroom and brush his teeth while the water heated up. When he finished brushing the water has still not heated up enough for him to take bath but he did not care. Taking a bath with cold water, himself clean for the day before taking the towel and drying himself.

He wore a simple shirt. Light blue in colour pair with Black jeans and shoes. One thing Alexis hated about the brunches was that no one would dress informally which has changed over the years. Slowly they could even see the change in his father where his shirt was tucked out and the first time he wore a t-shirt to breakfast.

He slipped his wrist watch on his wrist. The gun was tucked under his shirt and in his waistband. The dagger and another gun was attached wire a harness just above his ankles. He was not leaving the house if he was not ready.

"Carmella," Salvatore spoke loud enough for the women to hear him from the kitchen as he was already descending down the stairs, "I am leaving for today. You can come back tomorrow if you want." There was no reason for his help to stay around if he was not in the house or coming back today.

"Thank you sir," she thanked back in the national language before returning to the kitchen presumably to collect her things.

Carmella was the daughter of the housekeeper in his parents home. The young daughter had no intentions of studying and was more interested in earning quick money which is why the mother had suggested her getting hired here.

There were security cameras all around the house and with how sharp Salvatore's mind was there was no doubt that if she ever stole something he would know.

He picked up the keys to his car not minding to take a driver this time. At first he drove to the florist taking flowers for his mother. Then he knew that the next stop was going to be a toy shop buying a few gifts for his niece and nephew. It has become routine. They always look forward to it.

The next thing was buying chocolate for Bella Rosa.

Annoyed that it was already 11:15 he threw the stuff in the back and drove speedily through the traffic. No one ever stopped his cars, they knew better than to. The numbers were reserved for him and his family.

His phone rang but since it was already connected to the car, Lucas's voice rang out when he click the button of answer.

"You are already there, are you not Mummy's boy?"

Salvatore sneered, "say that once again and the moment you meet me there will be a bullet in your eyes."

"Oppsie," Lucas croaked. " Still are you there already?"

"I am on my way." Salvatore answer as he made a turn.

"Alright just wanted to tell you that I will be late and so will Bella Rosa. Alessia spilt juice on herself so Bella would have to give her a bath before breaking her to the brunch."

"Oh alright," he muttered concentrating on the road much more than concentrating on the conversation with his brother. Lucas hung up after that.

Finally the huge mansion started to appear in the suburbs and the gates were opened by the men when they recognised the car of the young Don. Parking the car in his sport he took everything out before handing it to a maid and working towards the backyard where his mother would probably be.

"You're here?"

Salvatore turned around to find his father descending the stairs. "Yes, why?"

"You are late," Angela said dryly with narrowed eyes, "that is highly unlike you."

Salvatore was not going to admit his slip up sleeping past is regular time in front of his father. "I had a few errands to run."

Angelo scoffed, "sure, the don has errands to run. You sure you want to continue keeping the position boy?"

Salvatore kept his mouth shut. Angelo had always which provoke him. Turned around without much of a word and works to his mother was. He could see her standing near to table talking to someone else.

"Mama?" He called and Alexis turned immediately on recognising the voice. With huge smile on her face she held her arms out and quickly cover the distance in between them.

Just as he wrapped his arms around her his eyes went to the woman who turned around just as Alexis met him.

The same blonde hair and the same Blue eyes stared back at him as a blinked back in shock.

The girl he stared was the girl he wanted to leave alone but here she stood in front of him. The girl he stared at was Evelyn.
