After spending a wonderful weekend with Shiina, Monday arrived, and it was time to return to school.
After the strenuous sports festival, students were given only one day of rest, which led to many complaints. However, this was the school's arrangement, and despite their grumbling, the students obediently showed up for class.
They had little choice, as an unexcused absence would result in being recorded by surveillance and would lead to the deduction of class points, something the students could not afford.
However, this Monday's syndrome was particularly severe. Everyone seemed exhausted, and when Yukio arrived in class, he noticed Ishizaki sitting gloomily with his head in his hands, saying, "Ugh… I drank too much during the celebration the day before yesterday. My head hurt all day yesterday."
"I spent the whole day resting and didn't get to play at all. I wish we could have had one more day off."
This was the sentiment shared by the entire class, or rather, by all the students. It's always nice to have an extra day off.
For some reason, perhaps because Yukio was somewhat mischievous by nature, even toward loyal followers like Ishizaki, he didn't offer comfort but rather felt the urge to make a cutting remark: "Ishizaki, don't be so gloomy."
"Huh? Yukio-san, what do you mean?" Ishizaki perked up, his eyes filled with hope. "Is there something we missed?"
Perhaps due to Yukio's high prestige, several classmates had already pricked up their ears, wanting to hear if Yukio had any insights on the matter.
However, Yukio was bound to disappoint them. He simply flashed a mischievous smile and said, "Of course, you guys forgot what Sakagami-sensei once said."
"Afternoon sports classes are scheduled only until the end of the sports festival. So, from now on, classes are back to normal."
"So, don't be in a hurry to agony things. Even more tormenting things are always waiting for you ahead."
"..." Ishizaki was stunned for a moment, then clutched his head and wailed, "Ah! I don't want to go to class!"
"Don't want to go to class?" At that moment, Sakagami opened the classroom door. As soon as he walked in, he heard Ishizaki's complaint and smiled as he asked.
After being together for so long, the classmates knew that although Sakagami usually wore a smile, he was actually quite cunning.
From the last celebration, where the students tried to get Sakagami drunk but ended up being outdrunk instead, it was clear that their homeroom teacher wasn't easy to deal with.
So, Ishizaki could only stop wailing, scratching his head awkwardly and laughing, "No, no, I love classes. Classes are the best!"
"..." Sakagami's face twitched a couple of times. If top students like Shiina or Kaneda had said this, Sakagami would have praised them.
But coming from Ishizaki, it seemed like Ishizaki was mocking Sakagami's intelligence.
"Sigh." With a sigh, Sakagami ignored the little rascal and just knocked on the blackboard, saying, "It's true that right after the sports festival, you might not feel like listening."
"But I have to tell you, the mid-term exam is next Friday, and you all were busy with the sports festival, so you haven't reviewed, right?"
It was just Ishizaki groaning before, but now, hearing how close the mid-term exam was, most of the class started wailing.
Even though they have been studying for a semester and their grades have somewhat improved, they weren't too worried about failing the exam and being expelled.
But it was still a hassle! For people like Ishizaki, although his grades have improved a bit, the improvement is limited, and he still risks failing!
Sakagami leisurely took out the textbook and said, "Alright, can you focus now? Let's start the class. Today, I'll teach you about..."
The groaning was just an outlet for inner emotions, a way to adjust oneself. When Sakagami started teaching for real, except for Yukio, the entire class was focused, diligently taking notes.
Everyone, including Ishizaki, wasn't slacking off but seriously absorbing the math knowledge Sakagami was imparting.
Yukio looked around and didn't see anyone sneaking around on their phones. The class's spirit and attitude were vastly different from what they were at the beginning of the semester.
No one would think this class used to be just a C-class, right?
While leading them to earn class benefits, Yukio also witnessed everyone's growth. In an environment like Advanced Nurturing High School, no one could afford to stand still.
No wonder his family wanted him to come and get all the school's policies and teaching data. With some adaptation, setting up something similar back home might not be a bad idea.
With various thoughts in his mind, Yukio spent a day in regular classes. After school, it was time for students' club activities, and for Yukio, it was student council time.
This was a crucial time slot.
For ordinary students, the second half of the second semester was generally unremarkable, with the only highlights being holidays like Christmas in December.
For the student council, the latter half of the second semester is anything but ordinary, as this is typically the time for council transitions.
This year, however, has been different. It's said that Nagumo actively lobbied the school administration and various clubs, trying to pressure Horikita Manabu to advance the transition period to October, before the sports festival.
Unfortunately for Nagumo, Horikita withstood the pressure, and the schedule remained as in previous years.
With student council matters in mind, Yukio headed to the top floor of the club building and pushed open the door to the student council office.
"Ah, Yukio-kun~" The only person who could greet him so brightly was Ichinose.
After responding, Yukio sat down next to Ichinose, looking at the empty seat across and couldn't help but find it amusing.
Nagumo, who had consolidated his hold over the entire second year, was missing.
Noticing Yukio's thoughts, the president, Horikita Manabu, adjusted his glasses and said, "Vice president Nagumo is on leave, and your bet still holds."
"Since the entire student council witnessed it, even without a signed contract, the school will forcibly withdraw ten million private points from Nagumo. It should reach your phone in a couple of days. Now that everyone is here, let's start the meeting."
Yukio accidentally laughed out loud, thinking, "Nagumo really can't provide much entertainment, can he? Scared to show his face? What does it matter if he has to pay a huge sum anyway?"
Thinking about it, Yukio recalled yesterday at the convenience store, looking through the different memes on the school forum on Sakura's phone.
Whoever experienced such a public humiliation would find it hard to reappear in public.
On the second year's side, Kiriyama, who feared Yukio, felt that compared to Nagumo, this freshman was far more terrifying. Fortunately, he had agreed not to trouble his class further, otherwise, it might not be just Nagumo who'd be socially dead.
Tachibana also looked nervously at Yukio, thinking Horikita Manabu had recruited a frighteningly capable freshman.
Only Horikita Manabu, hearing Yukio's laughter, showed no discomfort. He didn't frown or rub his nose but efficiently pushed the meeting forward: "We have two items on the agenda. The first is the special exams for all three grades."
"The second is the internal transition of the student council."
