Chapter 1Chapter 1

Hori Williams rolled over his bed, the faint sound of his tired groan escaping his lips.

The sound of his alarm reverberated inside his small room. Hori groaned again and turned to his side, ignoring the alarm that seemed to get louder.

Five more minutes

Hori groaned again. He turned to his side and used the pillow to block his ears, blurring out the sound of the alarm. That wasn't enough however, soon enough he was on his feet.

He slauntered over to the bathroom and rested on the door briefly, nearly falling asleep. The sound of his alarm blaring kept him fairly awake.

"Shit, I thought I put it on snooze". Hori muttered under his breath.

He pushed open the door and went into the bathroom, picked up his toothbrush and started brushing his teeth.

He looked over at himself at the mirror. He had blonde hair, the dishelved state of it making it to fall over his forehead. He used his free hand to sweep the hair over his head.

He spat out the toothpaste and rinsed his toothbrush. A tired sigh escaped his lips.

He walked lazily back to his room and removed his clothes, not bothering to take a towel as he entered into the bathroom.

He stood under the shower and opened it, his teeth gritting as he felt the water come in contact with his back.

Cold, very cold

"Shit". Hori muttered under his breath. He didn't pay for the hot water, better phrased, he didn't have any money to pay for hot water.

Five minutes later, his shower of toture ended and he left the bathroom and navigated his way to his room, all in the darkness.

He turned on the light and the pitiful state of his living area was thrusted into his eyes.

His room was simple, it consisted of a bed, a wardrobe and a small desk that had a laptop placed on it. There was a couch at the far right corner with heaps of clothes placed on it.

Hori wiped his eyes and walked over to the heaps of clothes, picked out a random pair of shirt and trousers and put them on.

While he was wearing his clothes, his eyes caught sight of something. He saw a date marked out on his calender.

"Huh? The editors choice award is just tomorrow". Hori muttered under his breath. He looked over to the desk where his laptop lay.

He walked over to the desk and turned on his laptop.

"Let see where this takes us".

It is late at night, and the rain is falling. The sound of the rain is so loud that it blurs out the hearing of a boy who sat on a bench in a park.

The boy is thirteen years old. His black hair is dishelved and there are multiple scars on his face.

"I'll never get strong enough to beat Arthur". The boy mutters. The sound of the rain and the subsequent thunder blurring out the sound of his voice so it looks like he is just mouthing some words.

Hori Williams was in his words an 'unemployed author'. When he was sixteen he wrote a book that was picked up by a famous editor who published the book and paid Hori off.

Ever since then, he had been convinced that he had some God given gift in writing and decided to pursue the career path of an online author. He dropped out of school and dedicated his life into writing web novels.

The only issue with his plan was that ever since the first novel, his other novels didn't really take off, they ended up either discontinued or deleted. But he had a good feeling about this one, this one had to be the one.

Hori smiled when he saw what he had written so far. If he pulls off an all nighter, he should be able to have forty to fifty chapters all covered.

With a sudden burst of inspiration, Hori forcefully jammed his fingers against the keypads on his keyboard.

"You deserve this". Arthur shouts as he lands a slap on the face of the boy.

The boy flies away and lands on his face. He looked up and saw the Arthur's menacing face.

Hori smiled as he saw the words appear on his laptop. This was going to be his best work yet. With the quality that he was sure that this book had, there was no way that they weren't going to award him the contract.

The day passed. Hori was still glued to the screen of his laptop. His hands accelerating rapidly as his fingers struck random letters, creating a disorganized rhythm.

He remained this way until his alarm clock went off. He rubbed his eyes groggily and gazed at the screen of his laptop again, clearly reluctant to part with it.

It was only when he was halfway to the bathroom that he remembered something.

"Crap, I forgot to submit the book". Hori said. He ran back to his laptop and riddled with it for some seconds before decisively hitting one final key.

He walked over to the bathroom, filled with energy while whistling a tune. Today was the day that his career as an author was really going to take off.

"Now you see?" she shouted in a mix of annoyance and disappointment. "You can't outsmart Scrients! They're the most intelligent beings across the two realms." "You're right," I muttered, averting my gaze with a heavy sigh. "I made a mistake. I was too arrogant to think that a mere human like me could fool them." —BOOM!! "Heik! Wh-What was that?" "Hmm? I'm not sure. Maybe you should go and ask the most intelligent beings across the two realms. Oh wait, you can't. I killed them all.” ______ My name is Samael Kaizer Theosbane. On the last day of high school, I got into a fight with a kid I used to bully. It was a stupid, pointless scuffle, and in the middle of it, I tripped and hit my head on a rock. That’s when the memories came flooding in - the memories of another life, of a different world. Suddenly, everything made a twisted kind of sense. I realized two things. First, I was in a game I used to play in my past life. Second, I was a villain. A villain! Not the cool and mysterious kind, either. No, my destiny was to be manipulated and die a dog's death! I was the worst type of cliché: an ungrateful, privileged, insufferable young master. The sort you'd find in those poorly written fantasy stories. The kind everyone hates — a snobby brat from a powerful noble family who thinks he owns the world just because he was born with a silver spoon lodged in his mouth. You know the type. The one the hero beats to a pulp to prove his worth. Yeah, I was that guy. And the hero? The hero was the kid I’d been bullying all this time. The same one I got into a fight with. He was the supposed savior of this damned world. A world teetering on the edge of destruction, beset by wars, calamities, and a grim future that only I knew. And at the end of it all, the final antagonist of the game, the undefeatable boss… the Spirit King, was waiting. But could I even make it to the end? Could I conquer a game where defeat was the only certainty? A game that was now my reality! “Ah, fuck it.” I had no idea if I could, but I sure as hell was going to try. Extorting extras, manipulating main characters, twisting the story to my advantage, stealing the hero’s cheat items, killing villains before they could become threats - nothing was beneath me. Would the main characters be affected? Who cares! Would the story change? Even better! All I cared about was me—my survival, my life, my choices. “I will live this life with no regrets.” …But as I soon discovered, fate was not easily changed. And the price of altering one's destiny was steep. ========== Discord Server: https://discord.gg/VjFQtDUaTR
