7 Descent

This change was too abrupt. The entire clan's attention was drawn to the sky which was transforming. Streaks of lightning began to snake amongst the condensed clouds. Suddenly the clouds appeared to turn stormy. What was strange though was that this storm was incredibly compacted, directly above the initiation ceremony. Looking into the distance, it was still a clear blue sky. "Everyone return to your huts, and do not come out until the storm passes!" Chief Saito yelled with a mighty beckon of his arm. This snapped the clan members out of their daze and they immediately began to scramble to leave.

However before they could even take a few steps, a boom sounded in the centre of the whirlwind of clouds and a powerful pressure descended from the sky. The mighty pressure froze everyone present in place and the could barely breathe. The force pressed upon all the people and contained a royal will that demanded subservience. Under the force of the pressure everyone present was forced to the ground on their knees. Those few who tried to resist the force, instead coughed out blood and passed out. As all this happened one young boy stood out like a sore thumb. Philip was still standing, and from the confused look on his face, it was clear the pressure was not affecting him. He could swallow a calabash the way his mouth was gaping in shock. "This...how can it be?" Elder Charles who was nearby was shocked by the standing Philip.

"Boom" another roar came from the skies and a bright violet light descended in a straight beam straight for the ground from the very middle of the gathering of lightning clouds. It shot down without pause and rapidly struck the area around the tournament ring. Elder Charles, the competitors, Chief Saito as well as all the Elders on the podium were thrown back by a mighty gust of wind over ten meters. Ignoring his aching body, Chief Saito forced himself to look up and shouted "Philip!" Indeed, that beam had landed smack over his son's head. Even now the beam had not dissipated and continued to illuminate a circular area where Philip had been standing. "Di...divine might." an Elder with white chalk over half his face and red chalk over the eyelid of the clean right side of his face said in horror.

"WHAT!" came the collective shock of the clan people. The pressure in the area still remained and no one could move, they could only look and kneel. Although the violet light was bright, it was only concentrated in that small circular area. "Philip!" Chief Saito started to resist the force and wanted to stand to head to his son. "My Chief you mustn't resist you will only injure yourself!" the old man with the painted face called out loudly. Indeed there was already a precedent, and Chief Saito could feel that if he really did stand up, his organs would probably burst. But how could he just watch as his son died? A single tear streamed down the side of his face as he looked at the beam of light. One had to know a warrior like him had long since discarded with his tears and had a heart almost of stone. "Boom" another roar of thunder sounded, and the clouds in the sky seemed to step back and widen the space for the violet light. The radius of the beam also widened on the ground to about 30 meters in suit but it also became slightly less condensed. Steve who had managed to get up to a kneeling position raised his hand and pointed with a shaking finger with eyes filled with shock. Noticing his strange action, the other clansmen followed his finger into the bean to notice that in the middle was a dark silhouette. It was too short to be a warrior, definitely a youth. It was just standing there unmoving and facial features indistinguishable. However, there was no mistaking that slim build. "Philip!" this time it was a woman in the crowd of spectators who yelled. This was the Chieftess, Philip's mother. She had passed out when she saw the beam strike her son, but had since been revived. In the sky, another boom sounded, and another until there was almost no interval between them. Everyone's attention returned upwards to see a dark sphere occupy the space in the core of the lightning clouds. It slowly descended following the path illuminated by the violet light. With every meter it descended the pressure increased doubly on the citizens. By the time it appeared fully from amongst the clouds the young contestants could not resist any longer and passed out. Philip's silhouette slowly left the ground, and as the dark sphere descended his shadow also approached it from below. Like a pin being attracted to a giant magnet, he rose up through the violet beam in a straight flight. A strange scene appeared like a moth flying toward a violet lamp with a dark bulb. Shortly after, the shadow of Philip disappeared into the sphere. The violet beam slowly dimmed and retracted back into the sphere as well. There remained a heavy pressure on the people, a dark sphere in the sky,and dark clouds above it. "Boom" another roar came this time from the sphere. The clouds in the sky scattered and the lightning fell on the sphere and snaked around it. The lightning wrapped sphere then slowly continued to descend. At this point the pressure had reached a peak and no one could move even a finger. It moved closer to the ground and finally settled gently as a feather where the tournament space had been. Everyone took a sharp breath at this incredibly strange scene. What on earth had just descended?
