3 Deja vu vu vu...

After being killed again, Jack found himself in the same metallic room on the same exact spot as the first two times it happened. He looked outside the door quickly to see what or who had killed him, but it seemed like the scene outside reset to the idyllic quietness it was before.

All he could see was was the green shrubbery followed by some trees and a tall cliff behind the trees.

"What a weird dream...", he sighed to himself as he started to walk in circles in the room. He soon noticed something different though from his previous experience.

He found a spear which could but be better called a wooden stick with a pointy end. He checked it carefully, and it was black on top, and he figured it was placed in a fire so it could be made into a point.

The spear must have fallen inside due to inertia when he attempted to dive into the room and bounced back and let go if it.

"I guess not everything resets. This room is an exception.", he thought.

"This dream is getting weirder and weirder. How can a dream have such rules?", was his next internal monologue.

He was trying hard to think about what he could do about the black shadow. It was just too fast. He could not even see what it was not to mention fight back.

He went to the wall and tried using his newly acquired spear on it. He banged on it sideways with the flat end, and it didn't sound hollow at all. There was no echo. The spear just bounced back as if it hit something incomparably solid.

"Well, I didn't have any hope for this wooden stick anyways.", he thought to himself.

Then he tried writing on the wall, and he managed to put two black lines on the shiny surface.

He looked outside and decided he might as well give it his best since he could not die anyway in a dream and maybe if he manages to escape the shadow he will wake up.

As he got out, he slowly walked to the triggering point since from the previous two experiences it was apparent the green creature will only run towards him when he reaches that spot. It was like a scripted play.

He raised the spear above his head like an athlete and walked inch by inch closer to the spot.

As predicted he didn't have to wait long the shrubbery moved and out came a smelly green kobold which got greeted by a spear thrown directly in its torso.

Jack quickly ran towards it pushing the spear deeper since his power was severely lacking to penetrate the creature from a throw. Picked up the other spear which had fallen from the creature's hand and pushed it into its screaming mouth.

The whole killing didn't last more than 10 seconds, and Jack has surprised even himself. He turned around, and the shadow was nowhere to be seen.

He pulled the spear from the mouth, and when he wanted to remove the other one, he felt a stabbing pain in his kidney region. Before he could turn around, he was already in the room.

"Damn it.", he yelled inside.

He didn't stand on ceremony and ran out again. Went to the spot and re-engaged the green one. He grabbed the spear from it like it was some kind of dancing routine and plunged it towards where he thought was its heart.

The creature was dead almost instantly, and Jack ran back towards the room and threw the spear inside before he felt the same stabbing pain in his kidney region.

"You wanna play lets play, bastard.", yelled Jack.

He repeated the same routine for dozens of times only stopping to make marks on the wall inside the room every time he died.

He did not kill the green one instantly every time, and he noticed the black shadow didn't come until the green one was dead.

He had no fear of the green creature anymore or any sympathy. He would have more remorse killing a chicken now than what he felt after killing the smelly green creature dozens of times.

As he came to the metallic room once more, he started counting his spears.

He managed to acquire 31 spears and 3 daggers.

He left the three daggers in the room and threw 20 spears outside it.

By now he had a precise idea of the scenario.

The green one only comes when you pass a certain point. The black shadow only comes after you kill the green one. The green one was weak. The shadow was capable of killing him instantly, and it prefers to come from behind.

He stopped a meter before the triggering point of the green one. He looked around an everything was quiet. There was no wind, no insect noises, a tranquil environment. It was funny to him how he had not noticed this before, but he guessed his brain did not put much effort in such details.

He took a spear and pushed it inside the soil at approximately 30 degrees facing the direction of the room with the pointy end in the soil. He pulled it back out and pushed another one in the hole with the pointy end facing out.

He made a densely packed circle of spears facing out around him with 15 spears at 300 degrees with an incline of 30 degrees and four spears at 45 degrees covering 180 degrees of a circle.

He made himself into a porcupine. Then he walked towards the trigger point and backed off inside the circle as soon as the green one appeared.

He just waited for the green creature to come within 2 meters of him and threw his last spear at it. He became much more proficient in throwing spears, so it hit the mark hard. The green one fell.

He grabbed its spear and pierced its neck, and he quickly jumped back into his porcupine enclosure.

As expected there was suddenly a noise at the back, and when he turned, he could finally see it. The thing that caused him so much misery.

It was a green kobold wearing a black suit holding something between a dagger and sword. It was too long for a knife but too short for a sword.

Jack looked at it standing just a bit further than his porcupine defense like a broken puppet not knowing what to do.
