1 Chapter 1: Scientist Oden

A person wearing black was sitting on a chair and reading a book. Again he turned a page and was engrossed in reading it. Even if there was a monster attacking, he will not care and will be engrossed in his book. According to him, he should be peacefully reading cause he was the eldest son of the city mayor, and if he couldn't do it then how will the city be safe?

In front of there, a man wearing a tuxedo started reading the file which consist of his speech for the seminar.

"The monsters started appearing from the last 100 years. They were weak and could be easily killed by guns and other man-made weapons. But when normal animals ate their flesh, they got evolved and grew far stronger than monsters. They were called as beasts. The evolution rate was less, 1 of every thousand may evolve. But they were enough to create a massacre.

These creatures were a disaster to the humans.

Humans started experimenting with their flesh and as a result, they started mutating. The mutation wasn't easy, their body required to accept the mutation. A human can get mutated only three times. This mutation liquids are called as Mublend (mutation blend). This were mixtures of different monsters and beasts. But again the evolution rate was 1 of every thousand. After thousands of experiments, the side effects were removed. There were many kinds of Mublends, of which each person can try only three in their life time . They didn't even know which to choose. Randomly picking wasn't a good solution. As time passed, the Mublends had become so expensive that the richest had to sell half their net worth for a better Mublend. As humans started getting stronger, society changed and strength represented everything.

There were 4 ranks of status and 10 ranks of hunters. These ranks were given in terms of their strength and number of Mublends taken. So, in a way, it can be said that Mublends were powers. If a person chooses the right Mublend he can do whatever he wants."

Oden looked towards the tuxedo guy "That's enough John, this was the 11th time you read it, now relaxes the seminar will be starting in five minutes."

John took a deep breath and said "Sir, Oden this is my first time. I am really nervous and today, the mayor will also be there."

John looked in Oden's eyes and asked "The mayor is your father right ?"

Oden didn't answer. He went back to reading.

Oden again turned a page. Oden was brilliant when it comes to studies. In terms of knowledge of beasts, Few may be able to stand against him in the world. But still he couldn't make his father proud.

His father was an orange rank hunter. Vandal Brown was an elite. Being an elite in the family, had great benefits to the family. This means if there were two elites the benefit would be double. He had great hopes in Oden, his elder son. But after taking three Mublends there was no change in his body which was devastating for his father. His father had spent his fortune for the Mublends on his elder son. The Mublends were the best of the best.

Mr. Vandal also had a younger son named Alois. After spending his fortune on his elder brother. He still brought a Mublend for his younger son and it WORKED.

Alois became an indigo rank hunter with noble status.

After that day, his father never came to his house nor his brother. Oden was left alone.

Oden loved his father and his brother. He never asked for anything.

Sometimes, his brother used to ask for money. Oden used to give him, how much ever he asked. Without even thinking once.

A lady opens the door, Oden, and john, they both looked at her at the same time.

She speaks "The seminar is going to start, please come to the stage."

They both went to the stage and waited for their turn to enter.

'Now ladies and gentlemen, please can we have a round of applause for one of the greatest scientists of this century, Mr. Oden Brown.

Oden steps on the stage and went to his pre-decided seat. There were three seats on the stage. He sat in the middle one.

To his right, the mayor of the city, Mr. Vandal Brown had already seated.

It had been years since he talked to his father. He uses to see him in such seminars. Once or twice every month. They may sit together and even participate in group discussions. But never talk to each other as a father and son.

Oden never hated his father. Moreover, he used to think that that it was his fault that the Mublends fail to mutant him.

Oden was admiring his dad the full seminar. He was least interested in the seminar as most of the things were made by him.

The seminar was almost over. Now it was time for audience interaction.

John ended his speech "now I would like to request Mr. Oden to say a few words."

Oden stepped in front of the mic and started,

"Thank you, John, for the amazing speech. Even I don't think I will be able to demonstrate my Mublends any better."

The audience smiled at this.

He continued

"This Mublends are the future of the country. The weapon will protect humanity from the creatures.

I would also like to take this chance to introduce, my current project.

We all know that there is a core present inside of the monsters and we use it as power sources. But soon we will use them as powerful weapons to fight against the monsters. With these even normal people with able to hunt the strongest of the strongest monsters. One-shot from the gun and the game over.....

The seminar ended. He knew his father won't talk so he went to his car.

But this time something unexpected happened.

His father asked him to accompany him to dinner.

Oden felt as if he was dreaming…he immediately accepted.

He went with him, in his father's car. He wondered 'why there was no security'?

As he sat in his father's car, They both were quiet. Oden took out his phone and started surfing the internet. He found something about himself.

'Renowned scientist Oden Brown got mutation at 34, left for hunting.'

Oden laughed 'again a false rumor'. His father smiled hearing it from Oden.

He walked towards the door. His heartbeats were increasing as he going to the place where spent the first 20 years of his life. The fragrance remains the same, the atmosphere brings back old memories.

He felt as if he was dreaming..... 'Seriously this dream is coming true'

'Come in, let's talk inside' his dad welcomed him in the house. He wasn't this much happy even when he got his best scientist award.

He sat on the sofa. A maid offered him a drink. He took it. Like older times he and his brother went for cheers' by touching the glass. This time his father joined in.

Oden was simply enjoying the drink...After finishing the drink he kept the glass on the table.

When he looked towards his brother and father there was a smile on their face. But it was a wicked smile. Oden understood there was something going on. Before he could sort out what was going on. They both started laughing. He looked towards the glasses, their glass was full. They didn't even take a sip.

'What did you mix in the drink?'

His younger brother took out the paper and kept it in front of the table and passed a pen to his brother.

Sign it, if you want to live.

Oden went through the paper, it said that all the things belonging to Oden will be Alois's.

Oden knew his situation, the best he would do is sign this. After being a life he can earn his money back. But there was a sudden ache in his heart, it wasn't because of the poison, but the loss of trust and love.
