2 chapter 2...the glimpse

I have been extremely unlucky lately, or was I lucky? I don't know, but I suppose my bad luck won out in the end. I suppose you are wondering why I am rambling on about being lucky or not lucky. you will know when you hear my story.

so, today was a perfectly fine day, until I got woken up by water falling from the ceiling onto my face. It seems that my old, faithful roof had given out. oh well, I need that repaired anyway. at least I don't have to wash my face now. I got up to call the repair shop, and by pure coincidence, I saw the date on my phone. it was 08:15, Monday, May 6th. a school day. I repeat, A SCHOOL DAY.

"Oh, sh*t!"

I rushed to gather my belongings. As I brushed my teeth and dryed my hair at the same time, I took a glance at the mirror, and stopped. I stared at the mirror, interested in what I saw in that instance.

I could have sworn, right then and there, that my right eye shown with a threatening sheen of red, as my left was completely submerged in Black that seemed to suck up light like the darkest abyss. sadly, that wasn't the only unscientific thing I saw. for a thousanth a second, I could have sworn I saw a shadow behind me with the same eyes as I had that instant, as well as a crazed smile. the thing than spoke to me in a spine chilling voice.

"I've finally found you, my host."

than, it was gone. gone was the terrifying thing and unnerving eyes. Almost as if it was nothing more than a figment of imagination.

I rushed out of the bathroom, remembering I was nearly late. I then ran to school as fast as my legs could take me. I then arrived at school, pretending nothing happened. I mean, there's no way that was real, right?

I dashed through the gates just before the late bell rang. I guess that having a useless strong body has it's uses after all. I carefully observed the school grounds. according to my calculations, the teacher that dishes out the punishments will be here in 27 seconds time. I'd better hurry. I once again began running. exactly 26 seconds later, there came an angry cry from behind me.

"COME BACK HERE, YOU!"

huh. guess my calculations were off. oh, well. I'll just include the miss in my next equation, then. but, man. that was a close call. it would have been the worst case scenario if she had caught me. even after I ran for 3 miles straight, I was not sweating at all. physical abilities are one of my strong points alongside my photographic memory.

I had a few more minor good points, such as being good at almost everything I do. keyword, "Almost". I was always good at math, science, English, ect. what I wasn't good at was understanding human emotions.

I didn't have any myself, so maybe that contributed to my inability to understand. I always learned and understood everything the teacher said. but never the emotional part. some other good points include my looks. I am apparently fairly handsome. I can't understand the concept of cute, beautiful, handsome, cool, ect.

honestly, I only find beauty in things untouched by human kind. it makes me sick how humanity destroyed so many plants and animals just for their comfort. to think that I'm the same species as them. blegh.

as I was hating myself for being human, I arrived before my classroom door. I hesitated. what lies behind the door was a reminder of who I was. what I was. I glanced down the hall toward my sanctuary. the library. that place has plenty of places to hide, as well as an abundance of knowledge. no, I shook my head. it wasn't time for that. I need to go in. I opened the door and stepped inside.

the world always throws something unexpected your way. little did I know how accurate those words would be.
