4 Chapter 4
MC name has been changed to Odysseus.
As they slowly started to descent into the dungeon, Odysseus walked with the torch and acting as vanguard while Tomoyuki and Erwin acted as rearguards, while Odysseus wasn't happy about his placement within the formation, not much could be done to it, since they were decided upon with whom had de highest noble rank, would occupy the safest place in the formation. The 3 of them walked together with 3 others, 2 of them are barons and the last one of them is a 3rd year who supervised our performance, and if things got out of hand, they would step in. The formation was a 1 vanguard, 3 in the middle and 2 rearguards who could enter if necessary.
"but it's still weird, that we first enter at about 11 am"-3rd year while thinking of what might be the reason
"well, why is it"- asked one of the barons
"Well, when my grade did it, we were all in the dungeon at about 0830 in the morning" -3rd year
"So if that's true, that just means we have less to do" - replied Odysseus with a teasing smile
-- Cato's office--
"Sir, why have you chosen a 3rd class group to go as last, and not the 1st class like always?" Cato assistant
"There is a boy in there I'm quite interested in" Cato
"Who may that be?" Cato assistant
"A boy with below-average magic capacity when compared to the academy standards, yet he still finds a way with magic, we may nurture him good into supporting the kingdom, otherwise things might not look too bright for us" Cato
"Looks like you hold him in high regards" Assistant with a little hint of surprise
"Yes, because acceptance is the most powerful tool we possess as humans" Cato said while showing a little smile
-- Dungeon--
As the team procced to decent the dungeon, they began to see more and more places with traces of battles
a few minutes later they heard sounds of battle[1] and they started to jog towards the sounds, where they saw the 1st group of the 1st class, the 3rd year shouted to them if they needed help, and Enzo replied firmly that he had it all under control.
and so they travelled deeper into the dungeon.
they were content with reaching the end of the 2nd floor and turned tail and marched back towards the surface, they faced monkeys, bats and big ants.
the next day at school the 3rd class trained with weapons
Odysseus chose a monks spade, with a total length of roughly 2 meters, while he had some basic knowledge on it since it was something he found fascinating, a weapon that isn't designed to kill but to bury the dead. (A monks spade is a weapon with a crescent-shaped moon on one end, and a spade on the other, nicknamed monks spade since it was mostly used by Buddhist monks in China)
Erwin took the rapier due to him thinking the ultimate offensive is a quick series of attacks to quickly overwhelm the enemy while keeping casualties at a minimum
Tomoyuki chose a steel rod due to its relative fine offensive and defensive powers.
their combat instructor Alexander taught them how to use these different weapons.
when Alexander walked over to Odysseus
"There aren't many who those a weapon for defence" - Alexander
"I can't fight on the battlefield, nor do I have the power to kill, so this weapon is fitting for me" - Odysseus
"An honest comment, but everyone has the power to kill, you just need the right circumstances" - Alexander
while saying that Alexander started to show how Odysseus should handle the monk spade.
after school
Odysseus asked Qiaohui if she had some fools gold and opium, and gave him some weird looks, thinking he was an addict due to the opium request. Because of this Odysseus had to tell her that it was going to an experiment, before she gave them to him, still with concerned eyes.
while having all of the ingredients he couldn't get. he started to make smoke bombs. He later got vinegar, sugar, salt, saltpetre, Acetone, acetic anhydride, Nitrate, Potassium, Charcoal, Magnesium powder and paper.
First starting to mix the vinegar and salt to make HCl.
Secondly starting to heat the fools gold (pyrite(FeS2)) up to 600 degrees Celcius, and then pouring the Nitrogen dioxide onto the heated pyrite, which had a box where you can only but things in and out from the side, and the sides can also be closed. When the pyrite and HCl reacted with each other, the made 2H2S and FeCl2. When the reaction was done, Odysseus turned the box on its head, while closing a glass with air next to it, so none of the gas would leak, and went to the window to make sure the sun could facilitate the reaction, when ready, he slowly opened the gate of one of the sides, that was tiled up, the H2S started going into the glass, where it reacted with the Oxygen within the air, Sulphur and water was made.
"Good, now we just need to make heroin and the rest of the gunpowder, and we are done" -Odysseus said to himself
then he took the opium flower, cut the head off, and started mixing it with Acetone((CH3)2CO) and acetic anhydride ((CH3CO)2O), with their respective chemical reactions, he made Heroin.
After that, he mixed Potassium (K) and Nitrate (NO3-) to make Potassium Nitrate (KNO3), then proceeded to mix Potassium Nitrate, Sulphur and Charcoal together to make black gunpowder.
after all the prep work was done, Odysseus started to mix the Heroin, black gunpowder, sugar and magnesium together on the paper, and sealed the paper, making 4 bombs worth.
A week later in the forest of Bloodweed, Odysseus went looking after a special type of eagle, The Guile Hawk, renowned for its intelligence and cooperation with others of its kin, while walking with the monk spade. a female Guile eagle came flying down, cutting Odysseus chin, with a 30-degree angle from the ground, and just bearly missing the ground
Odysseus thought, looks like they have come.
although monsters were quite common. They mostly kept to themselves/their area of domain, so as long you didn't surpass their area, most wouldn't do anything against you
After the attack, Odysseus drew his monk spade, while running the opposite way of where the female eagle flew.
Because it hadn't rained the last 3 days, the ground was rather dry.
within seconds, the male eagle started his dive, when Odysseus saw this, he quickly started using his mana to gather wind in his right palm. he threw his hand backwards to where the eagle was diving from (imagen a 180-degree turn).with his right hand just above the ground to form a small-sized sand cloud as a smokescreen, that forced the male eagle to redirect his dive and to do this he had slow down with a speed of approximately to about 40 km/h.
The female seeing Odysseus's plan, quickly started a low dive to hopefully throw Odysseus of balance since she still was close by, thus forcing Odysseus on a defensive evasion pattern.
when both of the eagles flew up, Odysseus readied himself to a new attack plan, where he would counterattack, performing a tactical retreat and lure one of them to him.
The eagles planned with the male performing a frontal attack, while the female would come to flank Odysseus after the male had attacked, so he could come back with a torpedo-like run to finish Odysseus off.
Due to both of the eagles being close to the earth, the had to perform low dives.
While Odysseus ran, with about 6 seconds till impact with the male eagle, Odysseus threw one of the smoke bombs he made towards the female eagle, forcing her to fly up.
The male continued his pursuit, while Odysseus readied himself to his counterattack
as the eagle almost made contact, Odysseus used a 1/4 of his mana to make a short burst of speed jumping almost horizontal, catching the eagle of guard. Odysseus used his monk spade to force the eagle into his chest, holding it tight so it couldn't escape. When he landed on his back, he quickly laying the eagle on the ground while using the crescent moon end to imprison it.
"I don't know if you'll understand me, but I want to form a pact" - Odysseus said
When the female eagle saw what happened, she started flying around in circles above Odysseus.
Then Odysseus heard them chatter, and then he saw the female eagle slowly starting to descent.
Odysseus lifted the monks spade that held the male eagle down, as it tried to stand up, the female came down and helped it.
--Flashback--
"Old sport, how do you tame a monster?" -Odysseus
"Well little sport, you do that by exchanging blood that's filled with magic" - Favian
--Current time--
As they exchanged their blood with magic, their pack was confirmed by both of them, making them tamer and tamers companion
"Master, what will you name us?" asked the male eagle
"Wait, how do I understand you, ohh, it's telepathy" - Odysseus
"Well, since you are a male your name will be Ajax, and the female will be called Akilina" - Odysseus
"Very original Master" said Akilina with a sarcastic tone
"They both mean eagle" Said she right after.
"Don't worry that much sweetheart, Master choose us these names on the spot, so it's fine if they are a bit unoriginal" - Said Ajax
"Well, let's go home, I need to tend my wound" - Said Odysseus
While walking, Ajax and Akilina flew up to land on Odysseus's shoulders and sat there until they reached the dormitory.

With the making of a smoke bomb, be aware that it's not recommended to try at home, and this is something I used an hour to research, so there are probably many details missing.
