75 Chapter Seventy-Five: Her favorite toys

Clair broke their staring contest and turned her attention to his white dress shirt. She was glad he was not wearing his suit jacket. That would have been a pity. A real pity.

"Hmm." She launched forward until the only thing holding them together was their intertwined fingers. That of course did not last long because he pulled her forward. His arms snaked around her waist once more until he had her tightly wrapped in his arms.

'Coming and going,

Inside out

Back to front

Oh, tangled and messy,

That's how we've been, and we'll always be

And that's alright with me'

Instead of the attempts, she made to make the dance intense; he kept it slow.

A low laugh escaped his lips when she held onto his tie instead of his arm and undid it. Tossing it aside, she smiled.

"You look sexiest in casual clothes." She commented.

"You think so?"

"I know so." No, I would prefer if you were naked, actually.

She gave him a hard stare and continued to dance at his pace, despite not saying those words. She didn't want to appear a pervert despite acting like one.

'Don't you tell me that it wasn't meant to be

Call it quits

Call it destiny

Just because it won't come easily

Doesn't mean we shouldn't try, try, try

Just because it won't come easily

Doesn't mean we shouldn't try'

At the beat, he led her to the right and then pushed her backward, with his hand holding onto her back, keeping her from falling.

She gave him a complicated stare, wondering if she should laugh or not because he decided to follow her pace this time.

He had pulled her dress up, as his hand lingered on her thigh, pulling it forward.

He then pulled her forward completely and sent her in circles.

Clair felt light, she felt like she could fly. She liked this feeling; it gave her a sense of comfort, but most of all she felt at peace with herself, unlike the usual knot in her throat. Did she wonder why? Yes.

Why did she feel so peaceful?

Was she enjoying the moment too much? Is that why she had suddenly forgotten the reason she had been living hating herself for so long, just for a moment?

Pushing a few strands of his hair back, she traced his cheek with her index finger. "I wonder…" She mumbled.

"... If it's the same for you."

"I don't know what you mean, but it probably is." He halted his steps and locked their position together.

Once again, he forced her to maintain eye contact.

"How inconsiderate." She mumbled.

He raised an eyebrow at that.

"You are a very selfish man you know that?"

"And you are a very stubborn woman."

"A complete hypocrite, I swear."

"A total asshole."

Damn, she had been called an asshole twice now. She was offended now and was taking it personally.

"Wolf in sheep's clothing."

"Hmm, maybe, but you're a liar, to yourself and to the people you love."

"I never truly love someone. I cherish things I don't love."

"That's why you're a liar." He replied.

"I don't understand." She frowned.

"If you will insult me, at least justify it." She added.

"Then explain why I'm a hypocrite first." He countered.

"I don't want to hurt your feelings."

"Does it look like you can?"

"I can't? Ugh, now I really want to." She rolled her eyes sarcastically.

Did he really have to ruin the moment? Well, technically she did that first, but still!

He gave her an unamused smile and locked his eyes with her lips.

"I want to kiss you again."

"You just called me a liar and an asshole. I don't think I will allow it." She huffed.

"Yeah?" He hummed and pushed her back again with his hand down her thigh. She laughed and clenched onto his shoulder to keep herself from falling since his hold on her hand loosened.

"I noticed you carry these around a lot."

Clair shivered when she felt something cold against her skin as he slowly brought the small dagger out and traced it down her thigh.

"It's a dangerous toy."

"It's my favorite toy." She laughed when he pulled her forward again, tossing the dagger onto the floor.

"What about this one?" Her hair slumped her back as he removed the pin holding it together.

He tossed it on the floor again as all the small silver needles fell on the ground.

Another laugh escaped her lips, wondering if he could find them all.

'Don't you tell me it wasn't meant to be?'

'Call it quits, call it destiny'

As the song continued, she kept on dancing and watching him remove every weapon she could have on her.

After the dagger and the needles, there were her earrings which could kill someone once the object penetrated their skin. As soon as it did, their flesh would rot.

It was a toy she had designed and created for herself. She had lots of those, and she carried them around every day.

Items, that a normal person would never suspect.

"Ah...you really don't take any chances, do you?" He smirked when he finally caught the next item.

Clair cursed inwardly when she felt his hand reach out between her legs as the dress lifted with his movements. He enjoyed his trip to the clasp of her bra until he removed a red flower-designed hairpin, with another unique poison in it.

Finally pulling his hand out, he tossed it onto the rest of its friends.

"You didn't have to do that." She complained, he could have just done it from her upper back and reached below.

Did he really have to do it from the bottom?

"I know." He replied with an unapologetic smile.

"Did I find them all?" He asked.

"No." She shook her head.

"There's one more."

"I see." He nodded and ran his fingers through his hair as he thought it over. His eyes landed on her delicious lips again.

His lips then curled upwards as he grabbed a handful of her hair and pulled her forward.

Capturing her lips, he inserted his tongue and pulled her forward keeping it intense.

The more he kissed, the greedier he got. This was a fact he could not deny. Pulling her for a deeper kiss, it surprised him when she suddenly pulled away.

"You're really an idiot!" She cursed loudly.

She then rushed to the kitchen and filled the cup with water and mix it with different ingredients, leaving him stunned.

"Drink it quickly!" She ordered.

"Why? Don't you want me to die?" He questioned humourlessly.

"If you try to get yourself killed willingly, where is the fun in that?" She argued, wiping the lipstick from his lips, hoping the poison would not take effect too quickly.

"I just wanted to see if I was right." He chuckled and gulped down the antidote she had made.

"You're lucky, if I didn't have the ingredients for the antidote, your dick wouldn't work ever again." Clair laughed as she walked up the stairs, picking up her phone and turning off the music on her way.

She left him downstairs, looking down at the drink, speechless.
