46 Chapter Forty-Six: Surprise ruined

'It doesn't matter if our friendship ends, as long as she is far away from that man I don't care. As long as she is safe and away from them I can be relieved.'

"Wipe your tears away before someone thinks I'm bullying you," Sona spoke.

"Tch, you are so heartless." Jennifer wiped her tears away and she realized they had arrived.

"Whatever. Hurry up and make your visit quick. I will come and pick you up when you are done." Sona said, openly kicking her out and showing her urge to get rid of her.

Jennifer sighed and she came out of the car. She gulped and decided to come clean well….partly.

She would pretend that she is madly in love with James and use that as an excuse. She would say that she wanted to cause a misunderstanding between them so that she could take advantage of it.

That is why she had also shown those romantic emotions towards James when she saw Clair holding hands with him. She wanted Clair to think like that.

It's better than telling her the real reason…

She sighed and walked inside. Everyone knew who she is so they let her walk straight into Clair's office.

"I came to visit you!! Did you miss me?" Jennifer cheerfully walked inside the office.

Yaci's lips twitched. "Please quiet down. It's too early in the morning for this. I should be home sleeping." She complained.

"Oop- well that's too bad." Jennifer teased her.

"What are you doing here too? Aren't you supposed to be resting at home since it's Sunday?" Jennifer asked, sitting down on a sofa.

Like always Clair just gave her a 'hum'. Of course, that was not going to convince Jennifer that Clair knows nothing. After all, it's impossible to read her thoughts, actions, and expressions.

Yaci narrowed her eyes. She controlled her expression and exited the office calmly.

"Why am I not allowed to do my job?" Yaci asked. "Because I will deal with it," Clair answered.

But I'm supposed to get rid of the traitors. It's what I'm most talented at." She insisted. "Not this time. I will handle it Yaci." Clair rejected her again.

She was still upset at that but she couldn't do anything about it.

…..

"Anyways, I have something to talk to you about." Jennifer turned serious. "Andrea was still able to expose her cheating boyfriend but, yesterday you almost got harmed. That was my fault. I'm willing to take full responsibility for it and…"

"You want to confess? That's unexpected." Clair mumbled.

"Huh…" Jennifer stiffened

"Your reasons. If they are justified I'm willing to let it go." Clair said her eyes were not moving from her paperwork.

Huh?

The heck?

Now Jennifer was confused. It's not like her, she will let it go? Like hell, she would believe that!

She gulped. "I like him." She admitted through gritted teeth. "No I-"

God, she wanted to puke.

"I love him!" She declared standing up from her seat. She closed her eyes and yelled. "Please divorce him!"

Clair paused. She put down her paperwork and she looked up crossing her arms. "Whether you love him or not has nothing to do with me. Get out." She uttered in a cold tone.

"Don't appear in front of me again and….I wish you luck in life, you will need it." Clair picked up her documents again and she continued with her work hoping she would leave quickly.

There was something in her heart. It hurt.

The betrayal hurt.

Gosh, it hurts so bad.

Someone like her shouldn't be affected by something like this. But she did so much to save that little girl. How could she betray her like that? It freaking hurts!

She didn't want to admit it but it hurts so bad.

'Right, it's not a little girl anymore. She's a full-grown woman. I don't have the obligation to protect her.'

"Hah, I won't give up that easily. I will make him divorce you. I promise you." Jennifer was sure of that. Even if it meant their friendship would end.

She wanted Clair to be away from the royal family so that she could be safe. This time she wanted to protect Clair, even if it meant sacrificing their friendship.

"Your love must be immense. To the point that you are willing to steal another woman's husband. Interesting, go ahead try Jennifer. If there is something you should know...I hate sharing what's mine. And I hate it even more when people try to steal it from me."

Jennifer pursed her lips and walked towards the door.

"Keep that in mind."

Her words lingered in her mind as she made her way out of the building.

What did Clair mean by that? She wondered.

It doesn't matter, she has to finish her mission. She has to!

She swallowed and decided that she would complete her mission. This time it's her turn to sacrifice herself for her friend.

Back in Clair's office:

An uncomfortable silence fell in the room. Clair wasn't sure if she could continue working with her mood like this. She picked up her things and sent Yaci a text. She then walked inside the elevator in her office and exited the building. She arrived at the underground parking lot and she took her black sports car with her at full speed.

When she finally arrived at the place she had been wanting to go to a while ago she sighed in relief. She came out of the car and she looked around.

An enormous mansion was before her. Behind the mansion was just trees and hills. She walked towards the entrance since the gates were open when she arrived.

She took out a key and opened it.

"Surprise!" Everyone a crowd yelled.

"Oh….Big sister, you ruined the surprise!" All the kids yelled in frustration.

Clair's mouth turned into an 'o' and she realized what she had done.

"Sigh* Ms.Yves what have you done! The children have been waiting to give your brother a surprise." The director of the orphanage, Director B said.

"Oh, I forgot it's already been 4 today since you guys first met brother. My bad, I'll help you fix everything deal?" Clair gave the kids ranging from ages 5-10 inside the front hall of the place.

"Fine, let's do it quickly before he arrives!" All the kids put themselves back in their places.

"Tsk, another surprise ruined." Delilah a 15-year-old shook her head from a corner. She walked towards Clair and handed her a broom.

"You guys should have informed me about it first, but I do apologize." Clair laughed and she cleaned up the confetti from the floor with Deliah.

After cleaning up, everyone including Clair got in their places and waited. The director informed Clair about what they had arranged and she agreed to help out.

Not long after the lights from the second floor lit up and music started to play. A disco ball turned on and the whole first floor was dark except the disco ball.

Surprise!!! Hahaha, I win." Lukas from the second floor looked down at all of them and laughed his butt off. All of their shocked faces were hilarious for him to see.

Clair shook her head at his antics. "Big sister, you were with him on this weren't you?" A 7-year-old boy named Scott came forward and pointed his finger at her.

Clair pointed a finger at herself in surprise. "Me? Why would I be that clown's accomplice? You know I'm loyal to the kings and Queens of the SparklesBlueCarsRainbowBarbiesPoopGrassDiomandDinosaurs Kingdom only." Clair placed her hand on her chest, showing her sincerity.

'SparklesBlueCarsRainbowBarbiesPoopGrassDiomandDinosaurs Kingdom' was what they came up with because nobody could agree on just one name. They ended up listing a bunch of words and put them on an online generator to create it.

"Pfft. Lies." Lukas came sliding down the rear of the staircase and he sent Clair a teasing grin.

Everyone turned to look at her accussingly.
