5 CHAPTER 5

SAGE POV

Adeline didn't tell me that we will be taking a plane to Briar hills, I thought the town was two or three towns over I didn't know it was in another country.

I have never been on a plane before not to talk of flying first class, I really want to sit beside Ophelia but as soon as we got on the plan she wore her headset and close her eyes so I have no choice but to sit beside Adeline what I don't understand is how rich is Adeline exactly.

"Are you comfortable, you have never been on a plane before have you?"

Adeline said while helping me with the safety belt, I shook my head.

"Well how does it feel to be on a plane."

"30% Excited and and 70% nervous."

Adeline sat on the big plane sofa beside me.

"Just don't think about it too much, listen to some music or we can have a conversation."

A conversation would be nice, so I decided to ask her all the questions I got.

"How rich are you exactly?"

Adeline looked at me weirdly before she started laughing attracting some attentions, how is that even funny, I know the question came out wrong but..

"I'm quite rich, I own a museum that showcase artifacts and ancient stuffs,I own some culture preserve foundations, I also have a clothing line called Fortuna, I'm a phycologists, and I've written a lot of books."

I was in awe, my mouth was wide open, I was speechless, how can she accomplish all this so young. It kinda of intimidating.

"It complicated to explain, don't worry, you will come to understand how I achieved all that in such a young age when we get to the mansion."

I could only nodded my head, I except her to be rich not that rich, I looked at Adeline more probably, her peach dress looked expensive with a overall black coat, the black heels she was wearing also looks expensive but what showed off the most was the diamond ring on her finger. 

"Are you married?"

Adeline breakout a sad smile, and I regretted asking that question instantly.

"I was married but....... my husband is dead."

"Oh I'm really sorry I didn't know."

She shook her head at me trying to smile like it all OK but there was pain in her eyes, the atmosphere got heavy and for the first time I have known Adeline her face looks older than how I thought she is, so I try to come up with a better conversation.

"So like how old are you, I mean you look 25."

Adeline bursted out laughing and I smile a little, a least the heavy atmosphere has been lifted.

"Don't you know it rude to ask  a woman her age, also it kind of complicated to explain, once we get to Briar hills everything will be easy to understand."

She is been cryptical and I'm being suspicious. But I got no choice but to agree to her terms right.

"Is everything about you that complicated?"

Adeline nodded at my question, but she didn't answer so I decided to change the subject.

"What Briar Hills like?"

She gasped lightly at the question and smiled sweetly and beautifully.

"It usually springy and magical, you should know, our family is the founding father of Briar Hills."

She let out a sweet laugh, like she was remembering a yesterday joke, a springy and magical town sound like a once upon a story town to me.

"Do you know why the town is called Briar Hills?"

I shook my  head, how was I suppose to know why the town is called that, maybe it popular because they have a large population of roses.

"It because the town has hills, the whole Hills has roses sprouting all over it, it hills of roses."

Wow, that is amazing, must be a beautiful sight, no wonder the town is called Briar Hills, but how come it not popular I mean if there was such an amazing sight in the town, the town should be popular and I would have heard of it, cause I like to look at amazing discovery blogs.

" but that not all, the roses on the hills changes color every season, my favorite is the icy blue rose in winter, they are so beautiful and fragile."

"Wow, but if such thing existed in Briar Hills how come the town is not popular."

Adeline looked at me like I got another head sticking out of my neck, did I say something wrong, then she busted out Laughing earning a few looks, maybe I did say something wrong.

"What are talking about, Briar Hills is only know to those that are born there, it a very small town, people only stumble into Briar Hills accidentally, that why I said it magical."

My expression right now is probably funny because Adeline has an amusing smile on her face.

"No matter how small a town is, if it had such amazing sight as you claimed, it should be popular."

"You will be surprise by how many things that are not yet discover by the world."

She said that with the eyes of someone older than her age, everything about Adeline sound mysterious even the town she is from, how can such a town exist without begin noticed, it impossible and all these mystery is only fueling my curiosity.

"Why don't you rest up, it 3 hours journey."

I yawned and closed my eye, rest my back on my seat I drifted into a dreamless sleep.

Getting off the plane was such a drag, but I got off somehow, and  still sleepy as hell,I followed Adeline to her car, I sat in the front seat, adjusted the chair and drift off into another dreamless sleep.

Waking up, the smell of roses filled the air and the soft wind of the summer blew pass my face telling me to open my eye, the sight before me was amazing i can see mountains of rose with vibrant colors of red, yellow, orange, pink and brown. it so amazing but what was more amazing than that is the matte black Audi r8 Adeline was driving, how come I didn't noticed at the airport, my mouth was wide open and i stared at Adeline in surprise just how rich is she, i looked back at Ophelia and she had a blank expression on, Ophelia is acting strange, I decided to leave her alone maybe she is just stressed, so I took the opportunity to look around the town of Briar Hills.

The town was no different than any normal town except for the hills of roses spreading beautiful flowery smell in the air. Adeline didn't stop in the town instead she drove through the town down a forest part and I looked at Adeline curiously, I mean if they don't live in the town where do they live.

After driving for five minutes away from the town a big mansion started coming into view and I was in awe.

'I mean how rich is she exactly'

I looked at Adeline who was laughing like she won a lottery, although there were trees covering the glorious mansion but it was amazing, Adeline drove to the front of the mansion and got out I didn't wait long before getting out.

"Welcome back Mrs stronghold."

A man dressed in blue jean and yellow shirt greeted Adeline with a little bow he looked over to me with a soft smile.

"Welcome home Mr Sage."

He made it sound like I'm truly where I belong, I looked around realising something.

"Hmmm...Adeline, I think we forgot our luggage at the airport also how far is the airport from here."

"Our luggage will be deliver to us in 10 more minutes, and it six hours drive from here to the airport, it getting dark, let go inside."

I groaned feeling more tired,6 hours sleep and I'm still tired, or maybe it because I have been catching up on the sleep I've been losing, I sighed and tuck that to the back of my brain, what I don't need now is another major headache.

"Are you alright."

Adeline worried voice snapped me out of my thought, and I nodded, the grand foyer of the mansion was amazing, it even has a twin staircases, I don't know anything about architecture but I can bet that it one expensive house.

"OK Dean here will take you to your room, wash up and change your clothes, you will see new pair of clothes in the closet, when dinner is ready Dean here will call you down to the dinning hall."

She point to the brown eye, yellow shirt Butler with the messy curly red hair, he smiled at me and gesture to follow him and I did, he went up the left twin stairs in the mansion foyer leaving Adeline and Ophelia alone to talk.

The walk led to a beautiful hallway with different paintings, pictures and expensive looking flower vases, there was a picture that caught my attention, the picture stood out of the hallway because it look like it was taken in a park on a summer day, but what indulged my curiosity the most is that it was the picture of the man and woman from my dreams.

I stop walking and examine the picture more closely, the man hair looked exactly like mine, brown and wavy, he has hazel eyes and tan looking skin, he looks strangely like me while the woman has a jet black hair with green eyes that has speck of blue in them.

She looked amazing, her hair was pack in a messy bun and she was hugging my lookalike tightly with a big smile on her face, and my look alike was having a wide smile on his face with his left arm around lady's hip.

"Are...th.....they..

"They are your parents."

Dean's said, I couldn't look at him, I stared at the picture like it was fragile, which it was.

"How bout I hang the picture in your room later."

I turn around to look at Dean he had a pity expression on his face, I only nodded my head fearing that if I speak he would know just how much I really wished they were in my life.

"Shall we then."

It wasn't a question as Dean continues to walk towards the Hall end, I followed him with so many questions swarming in my head, it wasn't an accident, well not from what I remember or rather dreamed about, but could it just be a dream.

"Your room sir".

Dean opened the double doors to the bedroom and it was like those Disney moment when the princess is shown to her room, it looks like a room out a decor magazine, the room is basically white,  it also have a balcony with a sofa and a foot rest, the view from the balcony is also amazing, the room is the center top of the mansion, at the balcony sliding glass door there were three sofa, a glass table and two lamps each at different sides, there were also two doors one by the left side of the bed, the other is opposite it while the third door is the one we came in through.

" rest young sir, that door...

Dean pointed to the door by the bedside.

"Is the closet while the other is the bathroom, wash up and dress it late past dinner time, any questions?"

"Why is the whole room white?"

The room is great and all but it just a little creepy with the all white theme it has going on.

"You can change the room to suite your taste sir, but that will have to hold on till next week."

I nodded my head and walk around the room, I sat on the bed and it was so comfy.

"Well then wash up and I will send someone to get you dinner."

Dean left the room leaving me to rest on the bed, I closed my eyes, maybe I can just take a quick nap before dinner, I closed my eyes and rest.

Adeline POV

"Bringing him was a bad idea, you are just putting him and the clan in danger."

Marcus snarled at me in anger, I only choose to ignore his words and continue walking to my study.

"You really think he is more protected here, what if it put us all in danger."

I stopped on my tracks.

"It?, He is my nephew and the head of this clan and you will show Him, some respect."

I was face to face with Marcus now and he only scoffed, he sighed and I feel his mint like breath on my face.

"Look I'm just saying that I don't understand why you picked him up, we both know that Ophelia is doing a pretty good job as the next of head of clan."

I moved back a little, and shook my head, they all know that the head of clean can only come from our linage, and I'm not ready for that responsibility not with what happened.

"I know I choose Ophelia as the next head temporarily, but this is Sage's birthright, we know what he is, as his clan it our duty to protect him especially with the killings happening."

Marcus sighed, he folded his arms letting his muscles show and I rolled my eyes at him.

"I hope she is alright with this, I'm surprise Ophelia is taking this well."

I nodded my head at that too, I didn't expect her to take this well as she is doing now, I mean her kind are known for their pride.

"You should rest, you haven't eaten."

Marcus pointed to my mouth and I noticed that my fangs are out, well I better get some blood into my system.
