24 Armory

'Alright, there shouldn't be a problem with the cameras. Only two guys manage the surveillance room. I should be able to take them out if the situation calls for it,' Wuxing thought after he entered the room by 'accident' to count the people operating it. He walked around randomly, looking as if he was searching for a specific room.

They didn't mind Wuxing entering—knowing he was the guard of Miss Guan—and got back to their work without suspecting anything. Having one issue figured out, there were only two more left: checking out the docks and getting himself a weapon in case of an emergency.

He already found the best route he needed to take from the hospital to the main gate, so he only needed to determine the rest. There were also some other precocious things he needed to take care of, like a backup plan in case he was discovered while taking over the weekly supply ship, but he didn't have time to cover that right now.

Earlier, he noticed that there were stairs leading towards the basement with the sign of an armory, so that became his second target for today. It had already been about half an hour since Wuxing left Dongmei's apartment, leaving him only with a few hours until she came back from work. It would be embarrassing to blow up his escape plan just before it even started.

On the basement floor, there was nothing other than the armory. It was all closed up behind steel bars, only leaving a small window open where guards could communicate with the staff inside as they passed each other weapons. The only doors there were blocked by steel beams, about two meters tall, which completely denied entry to anyone who wanted to break inside.

"I need a new gun, a few magazines and a new pass," Wuxing called out coldly to the staff member behind the counter. He already learned that the guard he was impersonating didn't greet anyone in the prison and he was usually cold to others based on others' reactions.

"Do you have permission from the Warden?" The staff fixed his glasses as he slightly opened the window to allow Wuxing to slid the papers inside without even lifting his head to look who he was talking to.

"Four-eyes, are you joking? I don't need any permission. I only work for Miss Guan." Wuxing frowned, imitating Dongmei's guard's attitude.

The staff finally glanced at Wuxing. "Oh! It's you!" he exclaimed. "Did you already fire all the bullets I gave you last time? You are fast. What gun do you need this time?"

'I guess he was quite a visitor here and I shouldn't blame him. It would be boring to stay on this island without any occasional fun with the guns,' Wuxing thought, feeling lucky the guard was a frequent guest here.

"Let me in and I will choose what I want by myself," Wuxing proposed as he walked up to the doors.

The young staff with glasses seemingly hesitated for a moment. "Well, sure, but be quick. If anyone reports me to the Chief Warden, I will be in serious trouble." It wasn't his first time doing this favor for him, so he didn't mind. He opened the armory for him.

When Wuxing saw all the guns and rifles lying around, he felt like home. He quickly skimmed through them all and headed towards the pistols stand. There were not that many of them as most guards used rifles, but there were still some he could use. Fortunately, there happened to be one model he was looking for at the bottom of the shelf, and he immediately pulled it up.

"Ah, Gold Beretta M9A3. Classic. I thought you liked strong handguns like magnum or desert eagle," Four-eyes commented, seeing what Wuxing picked.

Wuxing ignored him and asked as he measured the weight of the pistol, "Do you have a second one?" He could use the newest version of the guns with many new features, but Wuxing preferred the older versions of pistols from years ago.

"I think I do." The staff nodded and quickly found the second one before passionately introducing it to him. "Here. Threaded barrel, increased magazine up to seventeen rounds and an optic crosshair added."

"Give me ten additional magazines and one box of ammunition," Wuxing commanded as he took the second Beretta and started quickly taking off the optic crosshair to the staff's surprise.

The staff wanted to ask why he needed so much ammunition but shrugged it off, bringing Wuxing what he asked for.

After taking off the crosshair which would only hinder him, Wuxing wrapped the holster around his waist and put the Berettas inside of them. He checked how it looked like under his shirt and was quite satisfied with the results, but he knew that someone with a good eye would still notice there was something underneath it.

Taking the spare magazines, he wore special leg holders. He stuffed them with five onto each leg together with the ammunition split into two grounds. After taking care of that, there was only one last part that he needed.

"I will be taking these two silencers as well," Wuxing added as he took two silencers for Berettas, feeling like he was home, but that suddenly made the staff member look at him weirdly.

"Two pistols, many rounds of ammunition, silencers. Do you plan to kill someone tonight?" the four-eyes joked.

"No, but I plan to go outside the prison and shoot the practice targets so I don't get rusty. I don't want to alarm anyone." Wuxing quickly thought of a good enough reason and asked with a frown, "Any problems?"

"No, no. I was just joking, haha..." The four-eyes shook his head and laughed it off. He scratched his head and asked, "Do you need anything else?"

Wuxing nodded, not hesitating to use the staff member more. "Yes, can you get me a new card to walk around the prison? I lost mine." The more things he could take care of today, the less pressured he would be as the final day approached.

"Oh, you can just take mine. I have two. I got a new one cause the first one had scratches, but I am yet to give the former back. It's still working." Four eyes quickly pulled a white card from the drawer and gave it to Wuxing with a smile.

"Thanks. I'm going back." He patted the man on his shoulder and left right away. Dongmei could come back earlier, so he had to be done with the docks as soon as possible.

Having a card on his hand, it would be finally easy for him to sneak around the prison. He wouldn't have to ask anyone for help and raise suspicions. There was always a risk someone would report his behavior to Dongmei and that wasn't in his plans.

Walking up from the basement floor, he was just about to head towards the exit when he spotted a familiar face walking to the first floor. When he saw Wuxing, his face paled and he instantly increased his pace. This action didn't escape Wuxing's eyes and he smiled, following the man upstairs.

'Hah, I guess I can add one stop before going to the docks.' Wuxing snickered.
