9 A Lazy Day

I walked out the training room and Lyn handed me a towel. She smiled at me then looked at her clipboard. I wiped the sweat from my face and neck then walked out the dojo.

"You've made some quick recoveries, boss. Tomorrow we should try some new training techniques!" Lyn said and looked at me.

"Mmm...I'll take note of that. Alright I'm gonna take my shower. See ya." I walked off and looked at my hand then balled them.

Lyn smiled and waved then lowered her hand and her smile faded a bit. Ryoko looked at her. Lyn sighed and twirled a strand of hair around her finger.

"Hakai...He's been working himself to the bone since he met Candy...or better yet reunited with her. I'm afraid he'll go too far." Lyn said.

"Heh...you're worrying yourself. Hakai is a legend amongst most legends. He's been alive for more than 100 years. He has years of combat and supernatural experience." Ryoko stood up.

"Yeah but..." Lyn looked at Ryoko.

"I get it, you're his personal assistant. You want what's best for him, but look at it this way...He's been fighting like this before he reunited with her. When he first met you, you were hurt to the point of nearly dying. So naturally when you were in danger he would push himself to the point of nearly dying himself just to protect you. Now you have me, I assured him you would be safe. Look at you, you're safe and sound. He still worries for you of course, but Candy seems to be an extremely important person that he has to protect." Ryoko explained.

"Yeah..." Lyn smiled a bit then closed her eyes. Ryoko smiled back then took Lyn's hand and walked to the elevator. "Where are we going?"

"To your favorite spot, the mountains." Ryoko answered.

Meanwhile, I walked down the halls and heard some singing coming from Candy's room. I stopped to listen.

"I dream of the clouds

My home's so far,

where ever they are

I look to the sky

And wish upon a star."

I walked closer to Candy's door and leaned against the wall, listening. Her voice was soothing...soothing enough to calm a rampaging dragon.

"I dream of the clouds

I also dream of family

I wish that they could see me

I dream of the clouds

I wonder where true peace lies

Gentle spirits

Float in the skies."

I closed my eyes and smiled. I haven't heard anyone sing since I was a child. My heart was racing a bit and I felt warm inside. I opened my eyes.

"I dream of the clouds

I dream of times where it was you and me

Our reunion

Felt like a dream."

"M-Mmph?!" Candy blushed madly and looked at the door. "Hakai..?"

"Yeah?" I answered.

"You heard me singing huh..?" Candy felt embarrassed and looked at her knees.

"I did. Honestly it was a beautiful song." I placed my back on the wall and crossed my arms. "Your voice is very soothing."

Candy smiled and her blushes became more intense. She got up and walked towards the door and placed her back on the door. We both were silent for a bit. I began to sing.

"I dream of the clouds (The clouds)

I didn't believe in miracles

Ever since the death

Of my hero.."

Candy began to sing as well.

"I dream of the clouds

You don't have to worry

About the past

'Cause you got me

And we're gonna last."

"I dream of the clouds (The clouds)

Even during these different times

I returned in your life

And you're in mine"

"I dream of the clouds (Yeah the clouds)

I wonder if we shared a dream

You and me

I don't wanna leave."

We began harmonizing together. Plexi, who was once in sleep mode beside Candy's bed, had awakened to our singing. We finished our song and I looked at the ceiling, blushing. Candy looked at the floor, blushing wildly.

"Hey. Let's go somewhere today. Just us..and Scrap." I smiled.

"Okay." Candy nodded.

I got off the wall and walked towards my room. Candy jumped on her bed and squealed into her pillow. Plexi watched her and a question mark appeared on his screen.

25 minutes passed and we both got ready. I put on my typical black hoodie and black pants with my favorite pair of shoes. I grabbed my scarf that Candy made then put it on. Candy walked out her room with a white long sleeve shirt with a cute cat slapped on the middle of it, blue jeans, and white shoes. She met up with me at the front of the base and I looked at her, smiling.

"Ready?" I asked.

"Yeah." Candy nodded.

"A f f i r m a t i v e." Plexi said.

"Alright let's go." I walked out the door then Candy and Plexi followed.

"Are we taking the motorcycle?" Candy asked.

"Uh...did you forget? It kinda blew up the other day." I said.

[Flashback]

"S-Slow down won't you?!" Candy yelled then opened her eyes and saw me headed straight for a ramp. "H-Hakai?! HEY DON'T DO IT!"

I drove on the ramp and we flew into the sky. I jumped off my motorcycle and held onto Candy then my wings emerged from my back and I landed softly on a cliff. The motorcycle crashed into the snow. Candy opened her eyes slowly then saw we were on a cliff. I set her down carefully then she looked out in the distance.

[End of Flashback]

"O-Oh right..." Candy giggled.

"We're gonna hang around Oresas City for a bit. We haven't been since the attack that Kuda and Eve did." I said.

"Oooh! Oh yeah I have to thank Maria for providing me with these pistols!" Candy nodded.

"Alright then let's go." I smiled and walked ahead. Candy quickly followed and walked beside me.

I placed my hands in my jacket pockets and listened to Candy ramble about random topics. She began to point at the different animals flying in the air. I smiled and closed my eyes as I listened. As we walked, Candy tripped and fell. I looked back at her and covered my mouth, snickering. She sat up and looked at me, surprised. She was surprised by the fact I was laughing. She smiled and giggled.

"We're here. Where it began for the both of us. Barbeque House." I walked into the restaurant.

"Maria!" Candy walked in with me.

"Oh! Candy!" Maria jumped a bit, surprised. "And Hakai. It's been a while since you've stopped by."

"Yeah." I sat down and Candy sat beside me.

"Oh! Thank you for providing me with weapons! Did you want them back?" Candy looked at Maria.

"No, dear. They are yours to keep." Maria giggled. "You two seem to be well. You've grown closer from the first time I saw you two together."

"Hakai is the best! He gave me a home and my own room! He even saved my life!" Candy said while grabbing my arm.

"M-Mmph.." I blushed and closed my eyes.

Maria giggled and leaned against the counter and talked with us for a bit. Candy and Maria really hit it off while talking. Plexi floated around then landed on the top of my head. I looked up and saw him then smiled. Plexi gave a happy expression.

{Plexi Learned The Feeling: Happiness!}

Maria gave us some food on the house and Candy happily thanked her. Maria nodded and walked off to continue working. After a few minutes of eating, I left a tip and a note then we left. Maria walked back towards our plates and noticed $20 under my plate and a note. She took the note and opened it.

"See ya loser." Maria read out loud and gave a small laugh. "I've never seen him so happy before...Candy take good care of him."

"So does Maria usually work there all the time?" Candy asked while walking beside me.

"It's just a side gig for her. She's actually working with me. Like Lyn, she gathers information but mainly she's an assassin." I answered.

"Whooaa! That's awesome!" Candy's eyes sparkled then she looked ahead.

I walked towards the railings and stared out into the water. Candy stood beside me and I began to lean against the bars of the rails. She placed her hands on the rails and the gentle wind blew, hitting our faces.

"The stars." I started.

"The stars?" Candy giggled.

"They shine so bright." I closed my eyes.

"Shine so bright.." Candy felt her heart racing.

"In my head." I blushed and slid my hand closer to hers.

"In my head..." Candy bit her lip.

"It's you and I." We both said and I wrapped my pinky finger around hers then began to hold her hand. She held my hand as well and got closer to me.
