5 The Fifth Cerin.

" I'm sorry Mrs. Cerin but your arthritis is too bad. We cannot allow you to operate any longer."

Cerin, the oldest member of the hospital. A member that had been there since it was still a small shack at the end of a neighborhood was pushed out with severance pay and a pitiful pension plan.

She tried to get angry and resentful but with her old age, she was incapable of doing so. While she felt wrong, she was far from angry. After all, she was old and while the hospital had grown quite well, it was far from being able to fully support its elderly staff with a large pension. Even so, what they gave her was far from enough.

All of these things ran through her mind as she walked through the streets to her home. It was then that it happened. A small child wobbling behind its mother tripped over its two feet and into the road and the path of a large truck.

Cerin moved her creaking bones towards the child, having realized that no one else would be able to reach the child in time. She pulled out all possible power and pushed the child to the safety of his anxious mother's arms.

She then felt her spine crushed like dry spaghetti under the impact of the large vehicle and her vision went black from the pain.

Her soul rose out of the corpse and lingered around long enough to ensure the child's safety before entering the cosmos and drifting towards the bright white light.

She, unlike the others, had very little regrets and was attracted to the green star purely out of curiosity.

The old woman, who was felt older than her biological age let herself be sucked into whatever final destination it meant to take her.
