Calix's Gameplay (4)

"Now... if my memory is right, I remember some statements from other squad leaders in the past. They had once said that where there is captain Calix, there is a bloodbath," the first commentator emphasized. His eyes were still following the movements of Calix on the map while it was attacking the NPC monsters continuously.

"Yeah, I seemed to recall that line too. At that time, it was because captain Calix there is always using the assassin role. He is like a reaper wherever lane he goes. Hehehe... the killing spree trigger. But, this match though... proves that there is more to his gameplay than just the role. He really is fierce!" the second commentator stated.

"He is the kind of player that when the enemy spots him on the map or crossed paths with him, they would quickly retreat! He is just so confident in any clash!" the first commentator continued speaking somehow good praises to Calix.

A small yet visible frown appeared on Theo's forehead as he looked in the direction of the commentators. He just give them a glance to examine their faces before he returned his attention to the large screen on the stage.

No one could tell what he was thinking but his members sensed that he seemed annoyed.

"Captain, is there a problem?" one of the members questioned in a cautious tone. Despite their conversation about him leaving eventually, these players could not bear the thought of not calling him captain. They don't want to be distant from him.

"Nothing," Theo simply shook his head and took a deep sigh. The line on his forehead left as he managed to fix his composure.

"Come to think of it... that commentator keeps on praising Calix. The game had just begun. But he mostly focused on him instead of the entire match! Does that man have a crush on him too?" another member blurted in an innocent tone. His companions were stunned by his words and they looked at him with wide eyes. Then, they secretly eyed Theo and took a big gulp.

'No wonder the captain looked annoyed! So that is why!'

Despite comprehending the situation, no one spoke a word anymore. Their eyes shifted back to the game.

However, the more the commentator would give his analysis to the audience, Theo's squad members could not help but felt warry.

When the game progressed to 8 minutes, the gap in character stats between the two squads was too big. Extreme Gaming was left behind. Not even a single character managed to get a full build in their team.

Meanwhile, the Silver Flame team marksman and fighter managed to gain EXP and Gold and were able to complete their items.

At this point, not a single fan of the Extreme Gaming squad was making a noise in their seats. They felt downcasted and seemed to have lost hope. All their expectation were crushed in just 8 minutes. If Calix was already terrifying when using an assassin role, the fighter role Calix was also frightening. This man seemed to not mind any limitation!

"Calix is in rush to become a champion?" one of the female audience suddenly spoke. She was wearing a black hoodie with a print on its chest that says: "GGWP"

This female was also a gamer but, she is not an ordinary audience. She happened to be a squad leader of the group that won the championship two years ago. And she was Theo's cousin.

"Hmm... Who knows why? It's very unlikely of him to help attack and destroy the tower," her male companion replied. The aggressiveness of Calix did not change. What he had observed was that this man had also prioritized pushing towards the enemy's base instead of farming after the clash.

In this tournament, ending a match in just an early game could potentially spark controversy and backlash against the victorious team. Bashers could accuse players of having no real tactics and strategies against a team play that they had to take advantage of in the early game.

In their gaming community, it was mostly believed that the best match only happens when the characters of both teams are already in full build. Hence, most of the time, in the early game, matches were in a passive mode until the characters had gained all the items they needed before they would fully invade and clash.

Most squad leaders and gaming coaches were aware of this. Thus, they were very careful to at least drag the match into 13 minutes above. It was but an unwritten curse in that tournament. Matches should end in no less than 13 minutes!

"Calix does not care about the 13 minutes curse. Hehehe... He is determined to invade the Extreme Gaming territory instead of stealing buffs in the jungle!" the female stated with amusement in her tone. Then, her face tilted to the booth of her cousin and open another topic of discussion. "Zhe told me he would retire soon."

"Theo? Are you serious? He won't pursue his gaming career? He's still 21... there still a lot of years for him to play," the male companion spoke in disbelief.

"I don't know... maybe retire for a year and come back in the pro scene the next year? I'm not really sure of his plan. But, he mentioned he would be in a relationship. So, he can't stay in their club."

"Ahh... that's--- well, he is 21. It's about time for him to find a girlfriend. Or else, his charming face would be wasted!"

"Girlfriend?? Hehe, try opening the gaming forums and you'll be surprised!"

"Wh-What is it? Just tell me. I'm avoiding going online in the forum community. So many people are bashing me there! Hmmph!"

The female audience looked her companion in the eye. There was a glint of haughtiness in her eyes. "I won't tell you. It would be more thrilling if you know the rumor there. Anyway, no one is discussing you anymore. They shifted their attention to Zhe."

"Really? Theo becomes the center of discussion now? Then, I'll check it later."

A/N: Zhe is part of the real name of Theo but only his relatives know it. The female is his cousin and calls him Zhe.
