1 Moonlight Assassination Folly

BreadFlower City, China.

Midnight, Year 22xx.

Within the darkness, milky-white moon reminiscent of cheese hung over a bustling city. No matter the time, the city was always filled with energetic people of all ages wandering the streets in search of a new beginning.

Below the night sky, yet above the heart of the city, five shadows jumped across the roofs of the buildings. Like wolves, they ran in a pack in search for tonight's prey.

While all five were dressed in pitch black clothing with no skin showing, one of the five was noticeably more petite in size.

"Little Plum," one of the figures halted at one of the buildings as three of five figures continued to dash to their destination.

"Jack, what do you want? We're in the middle of a mission," the petite shadow stopped as well as she confronted the one who called out to her.

"Little Plum, no, Plum. I want to ask one last time for your hand in marriage," Jack fell to one knee and held 'Plum's' small hand gently. "Will you be my wife, Plum?"

For years, Jack had been proposing to Little Plum, however, she coldly rejected him every single time.

"Now is not the time, Jack. Plus, you have already known that I vowed to never marry," a pleasant voice like ones from melodious birds emerged from Plum. On the contrary to her sweet voice, Plum coldly slapped his hand away as if swatting a fly.

"Is there any way for you to reconsider? It shouldn't be difficult for us to leave the organization and we can settle down in my family's home. Paris is a beautiful city compared to this one."

"No." A chilling aura emerged from Plum. Those intense, lavender eyes, which slightly peeked out of her mask, caused Jack to flinch.

"We complete the mission and then, leave this horrid city filled with dirty lies."

Without looking back, she turned around and departed from the rooftop, leaving a speechless Jack.

After observing her silhouette growing smaller until it out of sight, Jack's eyes became dull. A trickle of blood fell from his clenched fist.

Five assassins invaded a magnificent estate craved from exquisite marble and decorated with the finest of engravings. An enormous garden, which seemed closer to a forest brimming with wildlife, surrounded the mansion. Considering the size of the property, it had taken time for even these professional assassins to reach the inside of the house.

As they hid in the shadows, they bypassed all guards and security cameras. After years of working as assassins, the five were used to killing famous and wealthy figures.

As always, Plum took the lead. With her flexible and shorter stature, she easily infiltrated the rooms through the narrow vents.

Navigating through the vents like a snake, she quickly reached the room with the target.

Now inside the room, Plum located her target.

Under the sheets, a humanoid lump protruded from a grand bed with the scope of two king sizes. If it was not for the slight movements and faint breaths stemming from that lump, Plum would have assumed that it was simply a pillow.

Without further delay, she quickly located and disabled the cameras within the room. There was a chance that her companions did not reach the control room yet, so she would rather be safe than sorry.

Honestly, she could complete the mission by herself. But, her grandfather would never allow her to go on missions alone.

But now, it was time to complete her mission and escape.
