125 The Aftermath

I walk past the thorns sticking out of the bushes and get deeper into the colossal and grotesque woods. The heavy mist troubles the faculty of sight; the thickened air is almost making it hard to breathe.

Despite the surroundings screaming in my ears, danger, I kept going without setting a destination in mind. I walked straight and past more of the thorny bushes that pricked and sliced through the thinness of my skin. I could only wince from the pain, never stopping as if I'm not in control of my own body.

I feel the thick, warm liquid dripping from the stinging wounds that I obtained, and my feet are starting to ache. I wonder whether there's somewhere my body wishes to take me, somewhere unknown to my thoughts.

The moonlight acted as the spotlight that brightened the eerie woods. Continuous howls are coming from different sides, yet goosebumps only form on my frozen skin when I hear the branches rattling, followed by the sound of wings flapping.
