96 A Way Out

I heard their surprised gasps and their cries for me to stop as I went past the guards who didn't see me coming and could react no faster when I dashed to avoid them.

The stomps of boots and metals clanking resounded throughout the empty halls and marbled floors. My surroundings being so new to me, I allowed where my panic could take me as long as I lose the guards that are trailing my means of escape.

"Stop in the name of the King!"

As unthinkable as it can be, the king is, no doubt, my father. There are pieces of evidence, vision, and a fair resemblance with our hair and my pale skin. However, it's the truth that I can't seem to accept with my mind torn apart.

Right now, I wish to be in the comforts of my mother's arms. I may be displeased that she could not tell me anything about this to get me prepared, but at the same time, it's not her fault for leaving too early. I know it would have been less confusing or painful finding out from her.
