3 03. Black Paradise Prison.

"I love you and I believe in you," Those were the exact words she mouthed to me.

Those words sent a sense of serenity towards my chest, with a bit of fear rising beneath my heart as well.

The officer took me out of the room and threw me a new set of clothing.

"Get dressed, you're about to be sent to your new home,"

I know very well that this new home is most likely the prison facility Sophia spoke about just now.

"Move it," The officer ordered, urging me to enter the restroom where I could change my clothing.

*Door closed, *

I turned to my rear to see the officer fixing his gaze on me with his hands folded on his chest.

"Hurry up!! We ain't got all day!!" He roared.

'What? He wants me to change here!! With him staring at me, how can I do that,'?

It just felt weird with him staring at me.

Thankfully, nothing disgusting occurred.

I was currently dressed in black and white striped prison clothing.

My hands and feet were cuffed. My head was shaved and the officer followed right behind me as we headed toward the exit.

"Where are we going?" I asked.

"Not WE, it's just you," he replied.

" You'll be joining your fellow inmates in Black Paradise prison. Now move it," He shoved me forward, almost toppling me to lose my balance.

"Black Paradise prison?" I muttered subconsciously.

'Are all the inmates there right now?' I wondered.

That would explain why this prison was desolated.

I entered a van with a sack placed over my head. Inside the van were two guards keeping watch of me as we drove towards Black Paradise prison.

From there, we entered a ship before landing on a place I do not know, and I could not see due to the sack covering by means of sight.

From what I heard from one of the guards, it took us approximately three days to get here.

Three days without food or water and yet no one was willing to offer me anything to eat even though my stomach kept growling in front of the guards.

Luckily for me, when I arrived at the prison facility, I was guided toward the cafeteria.

It was lunch break, so I guess they thought it would be better if I mixed with the rest in the cafeteria.

I have been informed of my cell block already, so I know where to go when the lunch break is over.

I headed over to grab what I could eat and unlike in the prison facility I came from, the food over here seemed to be worse than I expected.

"They might as well just kill us now if that's what they want," I grumbled in anger.

Nonetheless, I grabbed whatever I thought was edible before adding an orange fruit to my dish tray.

The cafeteria was huge, with a length and breadth capable of occupying thousands of inmates.

I searched around, hoping I could find a spot to nestle down and eat my meal.

But as I was preoccupied scanning my surroundings, I didn't notice the extended foot aimed at me.

"Ahh!!"

I tripped over, spilling my meal in the process. The surrounding inmates burst into laughter as I gazed towards my orange fruit being picked up by an inmate.

"Thanks, buttercup," He said with a smirk before piercing his teeth into the fruit to grab a bite of the orange.

'Just mind your own business Ace, don't even bother wasting your time with these criminals,' I thought to myself, standing up gently before scavenging what was left of my meal.

"I didn't like the look of the food anyway,"

Finally, I saw a space I could squeeze in to sit.

I cautiously turned around to notice that these guys sitting around me didn't even bother about my presence there.

"Hey man. You sure about this?" An inmate, sitting right beside me, whispered to another, sitting right next to him.

"You've got to believe me, man. I'm f**king telling you the truth," The other inmate responded.

"I don't know, man. It seems absurd to me. Why would they mix us with those having a d.e.a.t.h sentence?"

" That's because something big is about to occur. Trust me man, when my guy tells me something, I always believe it,"

' Mixing ordinary criminals with criminals on a d.e.a.t.h sentence?' I thought to myself.

'Was this what my mom was trying to tell me?' I wondered.

"Get up ladies!! It's time to get back to your cell." A guard, holding a baton, yelled.

Everyone stood up and returned to their cells.

Thankfully, I was done with my meal. But no part of me found the meal palatable.

"A boy gotta do what he needs to survive," I muttered to myself, not that I've got any friends I could talk to.

Haha.

I was called over and offered a bedroll, a blanket, a bedsheet, and a washcloth before I was ordered to return to my cell.

I entered my cell to see a bunk bed placed on the right, with an inmate already snoring while sleeping at the top of the bed.

"It's barely been ten minutes since we left the cafeteria," I muttered softly, trying not to wake him up.

Since he was on top, I took the lower section of the bed.

"At least, this cell seems a little more comfortable than the last,"

Thinking of what Sophia said to me and what those two inmates were whispering about, I think I understood a bit of what was going on.
