35 Sister? What sister!?

With Myra back at the academy, things returned to a more normal schedule. Basic education, as well as learning about magic in various ways. In the end, Myra decided to drop her knight classes. There simply wasn't enough time handling all of the correspondence for their projects as well as keeping up with everything.

She still wanted some of her free time for staying in contact with Rae as well. Well, actually she wanted more and likely would have to find another way, but for now she still hoped that just dropping knight classes might work out fine.

Just weekends alone did not seem like enough time for taking care of all of these things. As for her magic classes, she was moved to the advanced class and her new instructor was the principal.

The classes with Myra had an odd atmosphere. With other classes the instructors would show them something and the students would learn about it. With Myra around though, their instructor would show them something and Myra would learn what theories and ways of using magic the mages of Luminos came up with.

Once she learned how they used magic, she then showed them how to circumvent some rules and taught them things that went beyond what the earlier theories said was not possible.

The principal likely learned as much if not more from Myra than she learned from his lessons, it wasn't surprising that the normal instructor – student relationship did not exactly apply here.

Just as Myra wanted to return to her dorm, to get ready to leave the academy for the capital, someone knocked on her door.

"Your highness, there is a letter for you!"

Myra rolled her eyes at the nervous voice. It seemed to be none of her classmates, as all of them got used to just calling her Myra, except for the principal, who stubbornly refused to do so and still used some formal address.

Maybe some messenger who entered the academy, or a servant who helped out with these tasks. She opened the door and the letter was quickly handed over to her.

"Who sent this?" she asked the young man in front of her. He didn't look like he was one of the students, so probably some servant who worked in the academy.

"I don't know your highness. The man handing it over to me did not say and he had just normal clothes, there was nothing to identify a clan or house."

"Thanks!" she handed him some coins for his effort and then headed back in with the letter. It had no signet or anything else that would tell her where it was from.

When she opened the letter she frowned. The content really made not much sense and she quickly frowned. She then contacted Rae and made sure that the kids were safe, but there did not seem anything wrong with them.

'We have your sister. If you don't want her to die come to the old warehouse in Stonebrook – alone.'

"My sister?" Myra mumbled to herself, really confused.

'I doubt anyone knows about my relationship with Lynn, but who could they have kidnapped? Some member of the royal family perhaps? Or is this just some empty threat because they don't know that the person that is supposed to be my sister is myself?'

'Stonebrook should be an abandoned village to the south. Well, I might as well take a look and see what this is all about.'

Myra quickly called Aaron and told him that she would not be around this afternoon.

"Where are you going to?" – "Stonebrook, they kidnapped my sister."

"You have a sister?" that was news to Aaron. She mentioned before that she had a brother, but never said that she also had a sister.

"Well, I guess I do, but I doubt anyone knows that. I think they kidnapped someone else or they just want to lure me out for some reason."

"I don't like this. Don't go there on your own."

"Can you perfectly hide your aura while under an invisibility spell?" Myra asked and looked at him waiting for an answer.

"No." came his angry reply, but he did not argue further with her.

"Well, just master that technique, then I can take you along for such a situation as well. I won't risk someone's life even if it's some person unrelated to me."

"Be careful, I still don't like any of this. If you're not back tonight I'm going there myself."

"Aww don't worry, I will be careful." Myra quickly closed the distance between them, balanced on her toes to make herself a little bit taller and gave him a quick kiss on his cheek.

"Hmm, yes that's nice, what do I get as compensation for letting you head there alone?" Aaron was worried, but since he couldn't change her mind, he did his best to benefit from this in other ways.

"What do you like? I could make you breakfast, or I could dance for you." Myra seemed to think about what she could offer him that would be interesting.

"Oh dancing sounds nice, how about I pick something to wear for you?" Aaron quickly agreed with the idea.

"You get to pick? Since when were you interested in clothes? Sure why not, I'm curious what you would choose. Don't make it too tight, I still have to be able to move properly."

Nodding happily, Aaron already had some ideas what she could wear, none of the pieces would be what Myra expected. The poor girl was way too innocent. "Great, it's a promise then."

'Sometimes it's great that her perception is abysmal when it comes to these things.'

With a smirk he returned to the boys' dorms to tell the others that Myra won't be around today.

--

When Myra finally arrived at Stonebrook, she realized for the first time how nice a good mount would be. She could not yet fly and a carriage would not work for this situation. With her speed and endurance improving spells it was easy enough to run the distance, but it did not mean that it was comfortable.

She looked around the village and then finally noticed a group of masked people standing around a large hall. It was hard to judge their level of skill, but Myra could at least tell that they were not your usual street thugs from their magical power alone.

"Who are you guys and what do you want from me?" she asked them and they looked excited that she had really come.

"Check the area!" one of them said "We don't want any uninvited guests." A few others quickly split up to scout the surrounding areas, quietly rushing through the underbrush.

'Maybe not mercenaries but some sort of thieves or assassins group? They seem rather skilled with sneaking around.'

"What an obedient woman you are, coming here just for your poor sister."

"Where is she?" Myra asked, still not sure who this sister would be.

The person who seemed to be the leader of the group waved his hand a few time. "Bring her here."

They carried a young woman out of the warehouse who Myra had never seen before. Judging from her clothes, which seemed to have some scratched and were ripped here and there, probably from a fight, but were otherwise of excellent quality, she was likely some sort of noble born.

Myra couldn't resist to taunt them a little. In the end, now that she was right next to the woman saving her would be pretty easy right?

"So, that's supposed to be my sister? Mind telling me who she is?"

The leader was a bit surprised, but he just thought that Myra would be acting and did not really give it much thought.

"Princess Lisette, the eldest daughter of Emperor Vandor obviously, according to our information she should be your older sister."

Myra frowned at this revelation, mostly because she didn't think that this group would be powerful enough to actually kidnap the daughter of the emperor.

"Whatever, what do you want of me and why should I trust you?"

"If you don't work with us, she will die. We have already made her drink a poison that will require an antidote every 10 hours. Even if that guard dog by your side General Jaros would come here, he could do nothing about it, as we don't have the antidote with us. It is secured at a secret location."

The leader explained the situation to her without any worries. He knew about their powerful backing and had prepared a rare poison beforehand. It would guarantee that none of the guards would step in and just rescue those prisoners with brute force.

Now Myra frowned even more and instantly she let her spirit open its senses and inspect the woman without the assassin's even being aware of it.

'Dang she is really poisoned, what a bother. Let's make sure she is alright and just leave those thugs. I can mark them for Jaros so he can catch them later. Obviously his job as they kidnapped this real princess.'

"Well, I think I know enough now. Thanks for the information, but I will not stay and listen to whatever it is you want from us, I'd rather go back to the academy, I'm a very busy student after all."

The leader looked rather stunned, but before he could react a blast of power pushed them all several meters back. Princess Lisette seemed to be the only one who was not affected and as the princess was still in a daze from the poison and maybe from the fight she had to go through before, Myra just grabbed her and quickly ran away.

She boosted her speed way beyond normal means and soon after also cast an invisibility spell on herself and Lisette, disappearing from Stonebrook in a matter of seconds.

"How dare you!" she could hear the assassins behind her shouting. "Your sister will die, it will be on your hands!"

They were obviously upset about her actions. They didn't expect her to ignore the warning about the poison and just run away. Little did they know, that Myra had several ways to deal with poisons and other than taking some time and effort, it would not really be a big problem to neutralize the toxins.

--

Back at the academy, there were quickly a lot of students and guards who noticed that Myra did not come back alone, but was carrying a woman over her shoulder. It looked a little odd to have a 15 year old kid carry a woman in the middle of her twenties like a sack of flour, but no one wanted to get on Myra's bad side, so they didn't really comment much on it.

"May I help you your highness?" One of the guards asked her politely, wondering what she was doing this late in the evening with a woman on her shoulder.

"Yes, please inform the principal that her Highness Princess Lisette has come to visit and prepare a room where I can treat her. She was poisoned on the way."

Not only was the guard shocked by her words, but even more was he shocked by the identity of the woman, who was being carried so casually.

"I .. I will inform him right away Mylady."

He ran off like his life depended on it and considering what he just heard, that might very well really be the case. If the princess died because of his delay, that would surely spell his doom.

While there were many royal children and it would not be the end of the empire if one or two died, they were all rather close to each other. If one would die, this would bring the wrath of the whole royal family down on the person who was responsible.

"Principal, principal! We have an emergency!"

Lord Quill, Marquis of a town by the name of Redwater and current principal of the Silverspire Military Academy looked up from what he was doing and then opened the door to let the guard in.

"Calm down man and speak clearly. What happened?"

"Yes principal." The guard took a few breaths of air before he reported. "Princess Myra just came back from ... from outside, carrying a lady on her shoulders. She said this was her Highness Princess Lisette and that she was poisoned and to inform you."

"Princess Lisette poisoned? I will be there right away."

"Thank you principal. I will return to my post."

With the principal just nodding the guard was relieved. Now he could return to his station and others would worry about the trouble that just entered through their front gate.
