55 Mage Tower

"This should be the last one!" one of the workers called out and a lot of cheering could be heard as he placed down the last stone and it was sealed together with the others.

Even with magical help, constructing such a huge tower, with a diameter of close to 300 metres and a height of nearly 500 metres, was a massive undertaking, especially in such a short time and under such bad weather conditions.

There were still many additions and modifications to be done to the building, but most of them would be made by Myra herself after the buildings' base was completed.

This tower would act both as a central government building, like a palace or castle, as well as the centre point for the Celestial Kingdom's magical might.

The walls of the tower were made out of obsidian, the black material giving it a foreboding and special look, making it obvious that this building was made with magical means.

Without all the enchanted carriages with dimensional magic, to get all the stones here, as well as the magic help to gather it in the first place, it would never have been possible to use this material.

Myra designed the building with a round base and it had layered floors with a lot of intricate areas covered by a dark red roof.

If one would compare it to buildings on earth, it would look like a mix of a black western castle tower and an eastern style pagoda, decorated with a roof that was reminiscent of celtic designs.

The golden adornments and the areas prepared for magical formations, gave an interesting contrast to the black and dark red colors. At the very top of the tower, the roof was not closed, instead there was an open terrace with the tower open to the sky.

"Why is the roof not closed?" Aaron asked Myra, never really thinking about the tower design a lot before now.

"There are a lot of spells that need an open sky. It would be a bad idea to have it completely closed off. I will cover the gaps with a barrier, that way we can deactivate it when necessary and still have protection from weather and attacks."

"How will you get a ley line here and connect it? I never even heard of those things before."

To Aaron all of this was new. He had a basic idea of magic and due to all their work he now knew what the use of this tower would be.

"Most of them have a rather simple and common form and are not easy to notice. Volcanos usually have a ley line that is hidden inside the magma, deep oceans have a current of energy in the depths of the water."

"A ley line can even rarely be found in the sky, you can find it around places with a lot of lightning storms."

"The cold weather and frozen ground, is also because of such a ley line and we will make use of it by connecting it with the tower. Not only will we get a source of magical power, but we will also be able to regulate the cold more easily and prevent it from spreading across the area directly, causing all of the snowstorms and extreme cold weather."

Myra explained all about ley lines and described the process of how to connect it to the tower.

It did not take long for her words and explanations to show itself in her actions. Immense amount of power were soon gathered below the tower, held in place by her spells and formations.

When the power finally calmed down, all the formation she had carefully placed on the tower over the past hours lit up on their own.

"Done! Now all we need is to decide what part of the tower gets used for what building or section of our Kingdom's government. What parts we use for our living areas and what parts we use for the magical facilities."

"I want to live theeere!" Rae pointed at the very top of the tower, to the floor made up of various rooms right below the roof.

"Sure darling, if you want to live there we can do that. What do you think Aaron?"

"Fine with me, if Rae likes that part the most. It would make sense to have the areas where the public needs access at the bottom area, to not make them walk through living areas all the time just to do their jobs."

Not just Liam and Alyn had joined them for the celebration of the tower's completion, but even Nell and Tia had come.

They all started discussing where to place certain rooms and where in the tower they would have their headquarters.

"It's so massive! We've already been planning for hours and only a small part of the rooms will be occupied." Nell pointed out.

They already decided on various rooms that were required for the people to work in their new government sections. Myra had agreed to Emperor Vandor's suggestion to keep the Celestial Kingdom part of Luminos, but they would still need officials and workers for administrative tasks.

"We have exactly 100 floors in the tower and that's just because some are far higher than others because Myra wanted to grow trees and make room for larger creatures to live, not to mention that I have a feeling that she wanted a round number." Alyn said, taking a look at the impressive designs once again.

"How are we ever gonna use up all of that space?" Liam did his best to fill up the rooms, but with each floor containing enough area to have lots and lots of rooms it would take a while to fill every single one of them.

"Mhm." Myra agreed with them. "It is basically a small city by itself, just as I wanted it to be."

She pointed at the top section. "This will be the floor where we live in, it is also close to the floor with the spirit forest, or where the spirit forest will be in the future. We want our group of phantom cats to live close by after all."

"Oh and look here." She pointed at yet another section. The whole core of the tower will be used to help stabilize gateways."

"Not only will we be able to use it for the transfer array to go to other places where we already have a transfer array set up, but we can also use it to create gates between the floors. No one wants to walk a hundred stairways just to get to their rooms."

Nell's eyes got really big. "I would have totally forgot about that. Good that we have such a thing, walking a hundred floors sounds bad."

"What's this over here?" Alyn asked and pointed at some tube like structures connecting to all the rooms.

"It's a water system. While we can summon water and get rid of waste in each section separately, it is a lot easier to just centralize it in a few areas instead."

"Is this a forge?" Nell pointed at yet another area and Myra gave him an answer right away. "Yes, it totally is, we have all kinds of workshops in this section and a few floors below, you will find the area is set up for a lot of shops and places people can buy or sell items, including restaurants and places of entertainment."

"This really is a small city! Now just the people seem to be missing."

Impressed by the size and effort put into this tower, they all focused their thoughts on the people who would inhabit all these places.

Myra was the first to ask the question they all wanted to know. "Do you think people will come to live here?"

Aaron was confident though. "Who wouldn't want to have a shop in a huge magic tower like this? If you can make the place around the tower more liveable and we create a road to the place, it shouldn't take long to see many people arrive here."

"You can give the people who have a shop in the tower, a living area as well. Having a home in the tower would make opening a shop here much more appealing." Nell pointed out.

"Sounds good. Let's do that as well. Now all we need is to make the plans for what to put into each section come true. It's still rather empty currently." Myra encouraged them to get back to work.

Their funds were nearly drained dry, not just with building the tower itself, but also with all the furniture and decorations they required for the rooms inside, but at least they had everything that they wanted now.

Sitting next to Aaron staring out one of the towers windows at the highest floor, Myra had a fascinating view of the lands outside. Still, she did not really think about the beautiful scenery currently.

"The wedding is already set for next week." she mumbled quietly and caused Aaron to smile.

"Time goes by quickly. You decided to marry before you turn 16, don't blame me about the date." He replied and looked out the window as well.

"Do you regret your decision?"

"No." Myra shook her head. "I think it is a good decision. I'm just nervous."

"Mommy! Brightpaws climbed up the roof and is stuck!" Rae shouted from her room and both Aaron and Myra started to laugh about the interruption.

"I guess I won't have time to be nervous or appear pitiful with Rae around." Myra grinned and got ready to look for the 'stuck' kitten, before her daughter got any ideas about climbing up the roof by herself to get her companion.

"Doesn't mean it's a bad thing. You worry too much anyways." Aaron quickly followed Myra. "Let me get that silly cat before both Rae and you fall off the tower, at least I can fly."

Myra sighed. "I think I need to add some safety to prevent people from falling down now."

"Ah yes, I think we will have to add a lot of things, but then it's ours, so I don't worry about investing time and energy on improving this place."

With the tower structure complete and the interior getting more and more completed as well, there was quite an influx of people who wanted to stay.

Some came because they heard about Myra and her reputation as a powerful mage, others just wanted to get a new chance at life, hoping that they would find a way to become rich or find a better life in this new and still mostly wild land.

With initially just the Celestial Archers and Nell's troop of Phantom Cat Cavalry, as well as a few workers and acquaintances that Myra had met through all the projects, the amount of people who asked for help to build a home next to the tower increased by the day.

Even the land itself turned green and the temperature was a lot warmer than before, making the inhospitable land very attractive again. The Celestial Kingdom was not established yet, but the foundation for it was already there.

--

Rumors of the tower soon spread across Luminos and its surrounding lands to the point where even little kids knew about it. In a school far away in Silverspire, capital of Luminos a teacher was just testing her pupil's knowledge about what they had learned.

"What place is in the north of Luminos?" the teacher asked and she quickly got an answer by one of the children. "The Forest of Aenweidh!"

"That's correct, you remember that well." She looked at another child. "What can be found to the west of Luminos?"

The child obviously didn't learn her geography well and she forgot all about the correct names of the Tundra. Instead she smiled and gave her teacher a rather unexpected answer.

Most of the kids in the school were normal children of commoners. She was one of the kids though, who would not be here if Myra didn't help her at the time, if Myra didn't decide to give them a place to live and warm meals to eat.

It was normal for her to listen to every little rumor about their savior and think about it all day long. The rumor of a powerful mage, an earthbound god who would protect Luminos from all dangers.

"The tower of princess Myra and her army of angels!"

The teacher did not receive the answer she expected. She could hardly tell the girl, that her answer was wrong though and just smiled.

"Yes little one, it's the place where the magic tower stands."
