22 Going on an Adventure

Barely a day had passed when Myra was already up and back to the tournament field, this time as a spectator. The principal had decided to not let her join the tournament anymore. In a way, it felt as if she was disqualified because she was too strong, which seemed rather unfair, at least to Myra.

Every other student who participated in the tournament slightly disagreed with her opinion however. Not only was every single one of them relieved not having to face this little monster mage, but they also all agreed without reservations when the principal mentioned that he would compensate her, as she would miss the chance for the prices.

Because of the fact that she was not only barred from entering the tournament, but also because she was told not to do anything strenuous Myra quickly became bored. Most classes didn't take place due to the tournament and it became rather quiet inside the academy.

The next day she didn't go to watch the competitions anymore. All her friends were either watching or competing in the tournament and she couldn't even blame Aaron, because it was herself who told him to go away and let her sleep in peace. There was a limit how much fussing she could endure after all.

She decided that it would be time for a good project that let her get some excitement, but where would she find it?

Obviously the first step was to make everyone believe that she was an obedient student, who was still sleeping in the room. It shouldn't be too hard. Illusions did not only require a minimal amount of magical power, but were also easy enough to maintain for a long time. She could add some aura to the illusion to make it even more lifelike. Obviously Myra's illusions could be touched, moved and would even react with a few words and phrases that she could add.

Soon a second Myra could be seen, sleeping peacefully in Aaron's room. That would give her several days that she could go on an adventure. It would be too risky to go out with her current appearance however. Not only was she still rather young, too young to be taken seriously by many older people, but she had just too many people tailing her.

Maybe it was time for her older sister to return from her journey. She would not have to limit herself as much with the identity of her sister and it seemed like an excellent idea. To keep up the looks of her sister as well as the aura, she would need to stabilize her spirit though. Her body had grown a little in power and she had improved her magic by a good amount, but it was still not enough to fake her identity properly for an extended amount of time.

While she enjoyed taking risks, she didn't want her body to suffer even more harm while she was still recuperating. In the end, she decided to resolve the issue with a temporary formation that would take the strain of the magical energies off her body. The formation would quickly burn out after a few days, but to Myra, a few days of adventure seemed like a good trade for a few resources with the value of a few star steel ingots.

Creating a nice looking black robe, she replicated the outfit of her 'older sister', just that this time, there would be no illusion, it was a mix between a shape changing and a spirit transferring effect that would keep her appearance as she desired it. It was less flexible and she would not be able to change her looks on a whim, but it was very hard to see through, unlike an illusion.

It was not just a simple disguise, even the robe was exceptionally well made. The cloth was not woven out of plant fibers, it was made with pure magical power thread. Not that anyone in this little empire would know how to make things like magical power thread. Myra could not give the robe any cool abilities, but for anyone looking at her, the robe would not be any different from an artifact level piece of magic gear. A real expert at the level of a god might see through the farce, they would know that it was nothing but a well-made piece that was extremely sturdy without any special properties whatsoever, but there were none of them in Luminos.

When she was finally done after several hours of excited work, the identity of her older sister that she called Mairi Elení Aer was finally completed. It would just make sense that sisters had names that closely resembled each other and their bloodlines would likely also be the same. What was her sister's status in their own society though? She had no idea, but she would surely get some good idea later on and would be able to make up something on the spot. With all her work done, she would now be able to let loose a little bit, as she was no longer restricted by her still rather weak body, even if just for a few days.

'I can fly through the sky now! I haven't been flying for such a long time, I already look forward to it.'

Now that all her preparations were completed, she thought about where to go and what to do.

'I could trick the principal first. He was so mean and removed me from the tournament. He surely deserves a little bit of harmless revenge.'

Once she had decided on her first step, she quickly left the room. Her aura was still hidden and like a blur she moved outside the building before gravity no longer held any sway over her and she was flying through the sky.

Expanding her senses she searched for the principal's aura and quickly found it at the tournament.

She hid herself with a cover of an illusion spell and quickly arrived at her desired destination.

For a moment, she just watched the group of people discussing the tournament and their participants. She was surrounded by skylords and even general Jaros was right there, but no one seemed to notice her.

Then with a mischievous grin she looked for a nice place, sat down and changed her facial expression to an elegant and aloof look that might suit her current identity. Afterwards she released her invisibility spell. She still kept her aura hidden and for a while, no one seemed to take notice of her.

It did not take long for the group to stop their conversations though and notice the young woman that was sitting right beside them.

--

Lady Dhalia was rather confused when she first noticed the young woman in one of the several seats in the VIP area. The priestess had never seen the woman before and as she couldn't detect even a little bit of aura, she assumed that the young woman was a commoner of some noble line.

'I must have been really focused on our conversation to not even notice a normal person getting so close to us.'

"I don't think we have met before." Dhalia quickly approached the young woman, curious about her identity. "I am Dhalia, Priestess of Divine Reia. Welcome to our academy tournament!"

The young woman in front of her nodded, like a senior might nod to acknowledge someone of the younger generation. Dhalia was not easy to anger and as such was mostly confused about the woman's reaction. There were very few people who would treat her this way.

"Thank you for the welcome. It seems like a rather festive time for this academy." Myra was not really good at small talk, but she enjoyed the confused look on Dhalia's face. She had a hard time to keep herself from laughing at the funny expression the older lady's would make. She even felt a little bit guilty about her disrespectful attitude towards the old lady, who seemed rather friendly, but to make her identity seem authentic she had to act like a senior.

"Yes, all the students enjoy the time without classes, even if they cannot make it to the higher ranks of the tournament. It's also the reason why there are so many little shops and stalls around the place, this tournament has become somewhat of an unofficial holiday for our academy's students."

"I have never seen you here before, are you from Luminos or do you come from one of the surrounding empires?"

"I'm not from Luminos, I am only here to watch over my younger sister." Myra explained, but didn't really comment further. Telling the truth gets really complicated once you were this far into a different identity.

At this time, general Jaros also approached the two women. "Oh, I must have missed seeing you arrive here before, who might this young miss be to join us on this fine day?"

"You can call me Mairi if you like general. I've heard our bloodline caused some confusion with the local ruling family, I stopped by to see what could be done about it."

Myra really disliked the princess title, she just didn't feel it was right. She wasn't really royalty of any kind. 'Maybe there is a way I can get rid of it this way?' she happily thought to herself.

"Your bloodline caused … are you perhaps lady Myra's sister?" Jaros asked, rather perplexed to have this powerful woman appear without any notification whatsoever.

He no longer wondered about how she could get inside of the capital city unnoticed when he couldn't even sense any aura at all when he stood right next to her. The seals around the city would never be able to react if they could not even pick up the slightest bit of aura.

If he didn't feel her power in the past, he would have sworn that this woman was just an untrained commoner and not someone that could be called a mage or magic knight.

Myra in her new identity just nodded to confirm Jaros hypothesis. "I am her older sister and also her guardian for this journey as long as she stays here."

"Your highness, if it is important to you, we can announce that lady Myra is unrelated to our royal family and correct the misunderstanding, but I am sure you have also looked into the situation of our ruling family. It was just in her best interest that our emperor decided to let this misunderstanding go on in order to protect her."

"Protect her? In what way?" Now Myra was really confused. She always expected the royal family to be unhappy about the whole misunderstanding about her being royalty. When did they decide to keep up that misunderstanding?

"Well just another cousin of our ruling family would not be as big of a target, as a powerful visiting dignitary. People with bad intentions would likely not be as interested in harming your sister. There are quite a lot of heirs in our ruling family, causing harm to her would not bring them a lot of benefits compared to causing harm to the heir of another powerful empire."

'Heir of another powerful empire? When did I become the heir of another powerful empire?'

"Myra is not very happy about her current status. She enjoys just living a normal life and our family sees nothing wrong with her not bothering with politics for a while. I hope this new identity as a member of your royal family won't interfere with this?"

'Come on grandpa, please tell me it's not possible to keep up appearances in this situation and let me just be a normal person again!' Myra hoped she could force them into giving up her status. After all what royal family could accept that one of their members just wanted to play commoner?

Jaros did not even have to consider his answer though. He was already instructed by the emperor's sister on how to deal with such a situation.

"Do not worry lady Mairi, we would never force her to give up the friends that she made. If necessary we could always give that young lad she seems to like some noble title to silence anyone who has a problem with the difference in status."

'No no no no! That was not at all what I wanted!' Myra had a hard time not cringing in her new role as her sister. 'How could they keep up that princess thing and even suggest giving Aaron a title? That's just too silly!'
