2 Was I Reincarnated? (Edited)

A throbbing pain awoke her.

'Where am I? Who am I…?'

She started to check her unfamiliar surroundings but a wave of pain suddenly pierced her skull and interrupted her.

She clenched her teeth, grabbing onto the soft quilt of the bed as she allowed a flood of information to enter her brain. She endured the pain that was tormenting her and she finally released her hold on the quilt and let out a sigh of relief and a single tear as she remembered everything that had happened to her.

'My head hurts so much…'

"Yueliang! Are you okay?!"

'Who is it?'

Yueliang wondered. She lifted her head to find the face of her parents.

'Wait? Her parents?'

Tears exploded out of her eyes like a busted water pipe as she faced them once again.

The salty yet happy tears slowly dripped down her near perfect yet pale face.

Her parents had previously died after an assassination attempt which had left them with fatal injuries a few months before the 'marriage' between Shiulan and would have taken place.

After that incident, Shiulan didn't even let her attend her parent's funeral as he made her work at his company without rest or even a small break due to his threat of cancelling their marriage she had strived so hard for.

This incident had caused Yueliang to lose all of her standing and reputation Shiulan's company and the company she was meant to inherit as everyone viewed her as ruthless and unfilial for not even attending her parent's funeral.

This was one of many regrets she had as she was dying and reflecting on her life.

"M…mother! Father!" she shouted with a waterfall of tears escaping from her eyes.

"Phew! She's fine I told you," Yueliang's father said to his wife.

"Shut up! Can't you see she's crying?!" the wife reprimanded loudly.

"It's ok dear we're here now," she comforted as she hugged Yueliang.

"Mom…"

Yueliang held out her arms to accept her mom's embrace but was met with an unexpected surprise.

Her arms were shorter. Smoother. more child-like… She looked at her hands and it was like she had thought.

'Did I… go back in time…?' She checked her body and gave a big grin to herself.

'Yes…? I never believed in God but I guess I can take this as a sign?'

She smiled silently and clenched her fists tightly.

In this life, no one is going to hurt me or my family. Her fingernails dug into her jade-like skin, leaving faint red marks.

Yueliang cleared her head, retracted her arms and asked,

"Mom, what day is it today?"

"Oh God! Yueliang did you hit your head? Are you ok?" Yueliang's mom asked with concern.

"Yeah I'm fine now but I just want to know what year and the date are today."

"Thank god your head is fine!" Yueliang's mother laughed as she jokingly rubbed Yueliang's forehead.

"It's 2002, the 21st of May. In fact, it's not too long off until you meet with Shiulan!"

she said with a smile.

Yueliang now remembered.

If her thoughts were right, which they always were, she should be 15 years old this year meaning she travelled back in time for a whole 4 years.

And in a few days, as her mother had said, it would indeed be the day that Shiulan would come back from his overseas training in inheriting his company and propose to her.

This engagement, however, was just used against her like a shackle or handcuffs.

Constantly forcing her to obey him and his orders.

She subconsciously slowly got lost in her thoughts.

'Should I take revenge?'

Yueliang wondered to herself.

Nobody would judge her; not even god himself.

Especially after all of those years of agony and pain she had suffered as she slaved away at Shiulang's company for a whole 4 years, only to be rewarded with the betrayal of her sister and death but she shook her head.

'Maybe if they cross my bottom line but in this life, I just want to follow my dreams and protect my family…'

Yueliang was never a vengeful person and had worked hard for everything she had.

Money? Wealth, power?

Sure she had dreamed of such things in the past but her real goal was having a loving marriage and having a happy and protected family and of course, becoming a celebrity. This would never happen in her previous life as Shiulang never let her so she had to reluctantly comply with his request and give up one of her goals.

However, after the adultery between her fiancé and her 'sister',

she just wanted to be happy, find a new man who would love her and chase her dreams of becoming a celebrity.

This didn't mean that would she forget the grievances she had suffered either. One of the few setbacks she had with having near perfect memory was that she could also recall all of her negative memories as well.

But she sincerely hoped that even if those malicious people didn't like her in this life, they would no longer interfere with her life as even though she was brutally betrayed by them, she wouldn't hurt them now.

Well, maybe making things a bit harder for them would be enough... she thought.

She sighed and blamed herself for being too merciful to people who had killed her.

She had always too soft and lenient but she promised that she wouldn't let herself be stepped on too much from now on.
