44 Mayank, Matteo, and Charlotte

Since I was having so much fun training Mayank, I thought it was time to go look for my second and third disciple now. The earlier I start training them the better. I also felt bad for Mayank being cooped up at my house with nobody but myself to talk to.

As I had been protecting the streets of Moonlight City, I kept tabs on a few ki signatures here and there. Some were criminals, while some just showed promise. The kid I was picking up now showed great promise for the Hero I wanted to create. All of the Hero candidates I kept tabs on were street kids. They had no place to go and usually felt powerless in their circumstances.

I wasn't only helping myself get new disciples, I was also helping them get off the streets and have hope for the future. The sad reality of these street kids was not only possible starvation or not lasting through the winter, but also getting caught up in gangs and being killed. Street kids although they sometimes carried more baggage, they also tended to have a higher sense of loyalty to those that did good by them.

The first on my list was a 15 year old brown haired boy named Matteo, he was the opposite of Mayank in a lot of ways. He wasn't very trusting and if someone did him wrong, he paid them back triple for it, but if you were good to him, he also paid that back with interest. He looked out for those weaker than him and was a decent kid, he was just a bit of a tsundere at times.

Matteo was smart in his survival. He wouldn't steal food to survive, attracting unwanted attention from the police, but instead had connections with people that worked at different places and was given the food they would have otherwise thrown out. It was this resourcefulness that I valued in him the most aside from his decent knife skills that he honed on the streets of Moonlight City any time a thug would think he was and easy target to rob or grab for human trafficking.

Flying down towards him he saw me and quickly spoke up "I didn't do anything wrong, I got this food fair and square bro"

This was another reason I wanted him as a disciple. Most people would be shocked or excited when they saw my costumed self, but Matteo kept his cool under most circumstances.

"I'm not your bro, I would like to be your teacher" I said as I landed on the ground.

"Teacher? Schools not for me" Matteo scoffed.

I shook my head at his words and attitude "I'm only offering once more, but if you become my student, I will give you power and train you to be a Hero. All I want in return is your loyalty"

The kid finally showed a bit of shock on his face. "Power? I could fly like you"?

I nodded. "Yes, but it would be whatever power I gave you, not necessarily flying"

"You son of a bitch, I'm in" he said as he formed two guns with his hands and shot them my way.

The kid could be surprisingly simple at times. I had expected this to be more difficult. I rolled my eyes at his sudden playful behavior and gave him my address and told him to stand there until I get back. I had no time to take him to my house, I had to go pick up my third and final disciple. I may have two others in the future, but not anytime soon. Three would be more than enough to handle for now.

My final disciple that I had to pick up today was a 14 year old red headed girl with freckles named Charlotte. I had saved her 3 months ago when Black Mask killed her parents and was just about to kill her as well. At the time, I had planned to cripple Black Mask before dropping him off at the police station, but as I was waiting for him to wake up from the damage I inflicted on him already, Charlotte had grabbed a nearby kitchen knife and went to town on him. I didn't stop her, but instead let her vent her anger. When she was done, I vaporized his corpse with my ki and took her to the Moonlight Orphanage.

At some point in time she must have left the Orphanage for whatever reason, because I found her sleeping under a bridge. Squatting down next to her, I nudged her until she woke up. "Hey kid, remember me?"

Her eyes went wide and and she quickly got up. "Yes, I remember"

I saw the admiration in her eyes as she stood tall like a solider. "Want to be one of my three disciples? I have a spot open and thought you would be perfect for it. I'll teach you, give you a place to stay, and you will have two disciple brothers to hangout with".

"One second please" She said as she pinched her arm, obviously thinking she was still asleep. Upon confirming she was indeed awake she got back with me. "Yes, please take me with you!"

This whole process went a lot easier than I had expected. I grabbed her up and flew to my house where I found Matteo already waiting.

Matteo spoke up upon seeing me "So where's your house?"

"Right in front of you" I replied as I gave them permission to see it.

Matteo looked unimpressed, but I could tell it was just a front, while Charlotte had started pinching herself again upon seeing the house appear before her out of thin air.

I walked them both into the house only to hear Charlotte yell out in horror "THE FUCK IS THAT?"

I looked where she was pointing to see Mayank in his costume staring at us from his room doorway.

I chuckled "Your eldest disciple brother has feelings, please don't refer to him as 'that' and act scared in front of him. A junior should never bully their seniors"

Mayank had lowered his head and slinked off back inside his room obviously moping. I called out to him before he closed the door on us. "Whisper, come meet your junior disciple brother and sister. They will be training with you from now on.
