7 Chapter Seven

~Rowyn's POV~

I liked sitting here with Maple and Carolina petting me. I was still paying attention to the other conversation and I didn't like what I was hearing.

"Why wouldn't we hear about this through the link?" Nightingale asked as she came up beside me. I look over my shoulder at her and sigh.

"I think he's lying, at least to some extent."I said, sighing at the end with this suspicion. Nightingale gasps as Midnight walks in.

"What's going on?"She asks slightly alarmed. I glance at her and sigh, she never really liked Titan and Firum (his wolf). They thought that Midnight was weird,

"she was too much wolf and shouldn't be allowed on earth." they would say to me and Nightingale.

"You don't trust Titan." it was a statement not a question. I slowly nod my head.

"Ha, I knew he wasn't to be trusted, we would most definitely have heard his call for help." I nodded solemnly to her statement. He would've used the mindlink to all the shifters for help. Nightingale sighs, she had a crush on Firum when we were in the spirit world; She wouldn't pursue it because he was going along with what Titan said about Midnight. (Yah we were all friends in the spirit world) Midnight looks at Nightingale and winces, she didn't try to to be mean about Firum, it had just came out. Nightingale isn't one to get mad, frustrated maybe, but never really mad.

" What do you think they are hiding?" Night asks.

"Well his sister said that she helped lots, and we know he already lied about how she shifted.... it is odd how no one ever came to help his pack.." I ended it there. What if there was no pack!!! I didn't think that could be possible.

"Maybe.....maybe he just had to make something up so that they wouldn't get thrown out. You pretty much condemned them to lie." Midnight said thinking over her words carefully. I paused before I said anything. I did condemn them to lie, but I didn't want to lose them...

"Why don't we just leave it alone yet still pay attention, we have to pretend to be a normal wolf." I answer after a bit of thought.

"Umm, sorry to break it too you but we already failed that." I look at Midnight alarmed.

"Look, you opened a door blind, you went and got stabbed to save someone, you jumped out of the way when Titan almost tripped, and then you went and grabbed his shirt in your mouth so he wouldn't fall." I just stared at Midnight. She was right...I have acted more human sometimes.

"How do I lead them on? Make it so I'm just a normal wolfy?" I asked them fear creeping into my voice.

"Well first calm down, and then just do what you normally would do" Midnight answers first.

"Yah, if you change you'll look suspicious. We know that the pack don't know about us so they won't think anything of us....but Titan may be getting suspicious." Nightingale added. I rubbed my eyes and let out a groan. This was going to be horrible. Titan may already have suspicious about me on the first day he's met me. Just gotta be normal. As I get brought back to my senses I notice that only a few minutes have passed. I bark bringing people's attention back to me. I smile and wag my tail jumping up and barking again. Alpha looks at me and smiles shaking his head he says,

"Will someone get the barbecue started, were going to have a pool party." Multiple people jump up and race towards the house to get things ready. I yipped and started racing around legs. People started to go back to their houses to get ready for the barbecue. Carolina and Maple started chasing me around laughing when I tumbled into them. I had gotten distracted by a butterfly (midnight was in control and she lost all human sense) I fell but got right back onto my feet.

"Mocha!Carolina!Maple!"Karma shouted out to us. I stopped mid jump and fell, tumbling down onto all fours I run to Karma. Tsunami was next to her and they both were laughing at what happend. I reached them, than ran back to Maple, then went back to them, then went to Carolina, and back again. I could feel eyes on me so I stopped and looked around. I see Titan looking at me. I tilt my head in a wolfish way and stick out my tongue. He shakes his head at me and walks away. I just stand there confused by his actions.

"Mocha!Come here!" startled I yelp. Looking up I see Karma running to me. I pant and trot to her.

"Mocha, was Titan bothering you?" she was teasing but something about her voice showed that she was semi worried. I just wagged my tail even though something he did was bothering me. We walk back to the house where Titan was talking to Tsunami. As we got closer they switched to mindlink, which was fine by me as I could read it.

"As I was saying, Mocha isn't a normal wolf...she has to be like us" that was Titan.

"Your paranoid, Karma and I have been talking and what she did earlier is her normal behavior.. She is probably younger than how she sometimes acts but living out inn the wild could do that to wolves." Tsunami retorted back. I kept my face blank, Midnight was right he did have suspicions about us.

"Look Tsunami, if that's how she normally acts then she in fact is like us. I feel like she wants us to know so we would try to stop her, than by doing that we could get killed because by the looks of it the alpha family all like her."

"Yah and did Firum agree with you?" By this time we had reached them.

"Yes, he did. For a matter of fact, It.Was.His.Idea" Titan smiles smugly at his sister which got everyone's attention as he did it out side of the mindlink as well.

"Umm Titan is there anything you would like to share with the rest of the group?" Karma asked a bit too sweetly. He shakes his head quickly and glares at Tsunami. I just shake my head at the people around me. I was ready to party after a long day.

"Me too." Midnight added in and then she rushed us to the back patio of the house. Smelling the food my mouth waters, I wanted to start stealing food, but I sadly knew better.

I have been watching the two little girls running around the pool when Maple falls in. I freaked and raced towards her. Someone pulled me by the collar and I yelped. It was Karma but I didn't care, Maple fell into the pool and I had to see if she was alright.

"Mocha!" someone said in a commanding voice. I whimpered but continued to strain against the collar...wait when did I get a collar on me?

"UMM girls who in the world put a collar on me!?!?" I exclaimed to Night and Midnight.

"I have no clue" Midnight answered back.

"MOCHA WAKE UP" It sounded somewhat distant which confused me.

"What's going on??" I ask them.

"Why are you asking us we have no clue" Nightingale answers a bit snarkish. I sigh and shake my head. I look over to the pool but don't see one. Tilting my head to the side I notice my eyes go blurry.

"What is going on, I don't like this." Nightingale whines, which then turns to a whimper.

"Why isn't she waking up?" someone asks.

"Umm guys I think were just sleeping? Midnight answers.

"Why would you think that?"Night questions uncertainly. i was catching on, it all made sense right?

"Well we keep thinking random things and someone in the outside world just asked why we were not waking up, I think that's reason enough." She finishes, I smack my head at my idiocy. Of course we were sleeping, this would happen all the time in the dungeons; We never had people wake us up and freak out though. Sighing I wake up,

"YAY SHE'S AWAKE MOMMY!" is the first thing I hear when my eyes open. I wince as it is in my ear.

"Darling you gotta let her be, your going to scare the poor wolf away." the luna shided. I shook out my fur and took in my surroundings. I could tell that I was still outside, I guess my dream was based off of my reality.

"Aren't they all?" Nightingale asked in a sarcastic tone. She was right though, pretty much all the dreams I have ever had were what happened in the real world because of my surroundings. I sigh and walk us over to Carolina and Maple. Licking them on their cheeks I purr...yah I purred so what? We all headed inside after the luna made sure that whatever happened didn't hurt me. I was rolling my eyes the whole time, but she wouldn't know that, unless someone told her. I glared at the two wolves inside of me; they had told on me one time to my friends when I rolled my eyes in wolf form.

"Hey you were being mean" Nightingale said in her defence. Ok so you may be confused as to what I mean when I say "rolled my eyes at my friend in wolf form. Well I have only ever told one person that I can actually shift, she and I would always hang out in our wolf forms near the river bank. She promised never to tell a soul what happened and has kept to that promise for as long as I know. I smile as I head to Carolina's room. Jumping onto the bed a squealing Maple rushes to me.

"Carwovina! does the wofy sweep in your rwoom?!?" she squealed out to her new friend.

"I hope so! but momy said it was her de-swic-un." Carolina answered back coming into the room with her mother trailing behind.

"Decision, and yes it's her choice; She's a wild wolf and we don't want her to feel trapped.... although she seems to like kids and doesn't mind their screaming." Carolina and Maple huff at that but quickly get distracted as my fluffy tail wags in the air.

"I bet she could distract all the kids in the pack while we do our business." Karma said as she walked into the room. She eyed me with a sad smile and I started to wonder why.

"Maybe, she's remembering how you both loved getting distracted from all the wolves that would come out of the forest." Midnight said quietly. Nightingale comes up beside her and wraps her arm around her shoulders. Midnight misses those times and I guess Karma does too. Midnight shrugs Nightingale off and walks away. Watching her go I realize what a bad idea it was to break free. Meeting those who could have been hurt with our disappearance hurts us all over again.

"that shouldn't even be possible I thought we lost all feeling and yet we keep having it pop up."

"I agree, what is going on.....soon enough I'm going to start feeling real pain"I start to panic with what I just said. Not feeling pay would be my special weapon in a fight...if I lose that, I'll lose the fights! My heart starts beating faster and my eyes go wide.

"Look Rowyn,just stop. Your already going into panic mode. Just.be.Careful. Let Midnight handle the wolf and you handle your emotions. Get.Rid.Of.THEM. We don't want to feel pain, we don't want to lose our secret weapon, and we don't want anybody to hurt us emotionally either. I was nodding along with her. It made sense and was a good plan.

"Got it, now let's get some rest." Falling asleep would be good for me, it would help me to change my mood. Nodding off I start makin plans for tomorrow starting with... eh I'll think about that tomorrow. I like my planning skills, I say to myself as I go to sleep
