7 Spear Pit

Everyone know that soul form can't be harmed by physical means and Old Ginger is obviously aware of that too, that is why he is so confident about walking through the pit as those daggers can't simply hurt him in anyway. But all three of them forgot that this is not an ordinary place, they can't even go through wall here so nothing guarantee they won't be hurt after touching those daggers.

Old Ginger screamed and retreated back, his face is drained off colors and pale white. Against his expectation, as soon as he lifted of the ground and extends his paw into the air above the pit, a dagger right under his paw shoot up with an incredible speed and cut of his paw. Although soul form can move as fast as an airplane, their reaction time is by no mean the same, without proper training, it can take someone as long as a few seconds to react to something unexpected.

The pit was actually filled with spear sticks attached with dagger blades instead of spear shafts. The spear stick of four meters long then hided deep underground, waiting for their prey. When it detected Old Ginger, it immediately thrust upward and got his front paw. Bluetail was shocked at the scene too as his stone throwing test has showed no danger in the pit.

"There is probably a mechanic that can detect only soul forms and not physical things, other than that, there aren't any possible explanation" Guessed Stone.

"I think so too. There are walls that can block souls and now spear trap that can hurt soul, I wonder what's next. How are you Old Ginger?" Said Bluetail. At this point Old Ginger already regrew his cut paw and everything look fine except his pale face.

"I can regrow my paw with ease. However I have lost quite a few soul points, there is pretty much no way for me to breakthrough, unless there is a huge opportunity in this damn place." Old Ginger face is ugly as it could be. He was so close to his goal and was full of hope when he came here, but now everything disappeared like a cloud of smoke just by a careless action.

Both Bluetail and Stone felt sympathy for him but there are nothing they can do, they even felt a bit lucky that it wasn't them who tried to cross the pit first.

"Let's head back and take another path" Said Stone.

The trio then followed the opposite wall and do the same every time they encounter a pit, they saw four of them in total. After those four traps, they were back at the starting entrance.

"Look like we have to pass at least one of those pit" Frowned Stone.

"But how, you can see how vicious that trap is" Said Old Ginger with lingering fear.

"We have too, else we just can't leave this place and will die for real once our physical body energy run out. We may even lucked out and can pick the correct path right away" Said Bluetail. The trio then agreed on the third trap and soon reached it.

Stop in front of the third trap, they started to observe the surrounding more carefully. The trap look exactly like the first one, just a pit with spear daggers. The wall is still filled with carved patterns and draws.

"How about we touch a green paw symbol like we did back in the coffin room?" Said Bluetail. He immediately touched a green symbol out of many other on the wall after he said that. The touched symbol then glow brightly and every carving and draws around it started to move in order to form a message: "Congratulation at picking an easy question: If there are three oranges and you take away two, how many do you have? Touch one of the three answer: One, Two, Three"

"Haha too easy! Of course it's one" Said Old Ginger at the same time he touched the ''One'' button. Bluetail's eyes popped out and wanted to shoot ''stop'' at him but it was too late.

"Wrong! Sacrifice one soul to pass the trap" Another message showed on the wall.

Dead silent. Everyone is in a daze.

Suddenly Old Ginger moved and pushed Stone who was right next to the pit. Stone couldn't reacted in time and fell into it. Six spears then automatically thrust up and firmly impaled Stone. He died with his eyes wide open in disbelief. The scene is extremely graphic and feel like it comes straight out of a horror movie.

It happened too sudden and too fast, even a veteran and experienced Bluetail failed to see it coming. How come a coward and unintelligent person like Old Ginger could do such a thing and acted extremely decisive at it too?

The ground shook and the pit was pushed into the wall and replaced by a walk path. There shouldn't any danger now but Bluetail stays immobile, staring at Old Ginger.

"What? I admit it was my fault at failing the question but no body want to die, you can't expect me to sacrificed myself right? Don't worry about me doing it to you. We have no grievance and Stone was just happened to be right next to the pit." Said old Ginger like nothing happened.

"Do you think I would continue to travel with you after that betrayal? I'd rather travel on my own." Said Bluetail.

"You can take another path if you want, I will continue, I can't let's Stone die for nothing." Said Old Ginger.

Bluetail thought for a moment before gritting his teeth and continue after Old Gigner. "I can't take another path as all of them are guarded with the pit trap. I absolutely can't get out if I get the answer wrong but then I don't even know what will happen if I get the answer right, there are too much risk in the unknown so it's best that I follow him. I must stay on guard for his tricks though." Thought Bluetail. In his eyes, Old Ginger has transformed into someone unpredictable and scheming, completely different from his previous self.

After a few days of twist and turn, they encountered another trap. The same pit trap.
