19 Chapter 19

Seoul, Korea

Snowdrop Suite

Kita’s hand snapped out and caught the deadly projectile a fraction of an inch from his throat. “Real mature,” he scolded, giving her a look. “Are you finished with your tantrum?”

“Shut up. I am not the one having a tantrum, Brother, you are. Self-doubt I never thought you were inflicted with-”

“I am not!” he snapped at her, throwing the dagger back at her and she caught it with a smirk, stepping into him.

“So you say, but your actions are those of a coward!” she sneered in his face. “I am sorry your tie was ruined, but you did it yourself by abusing it with a bar of soap! Whatever your issue is with your charge, you need to suck it up and get over it. We are being paid handsomely for this job, and it will be a walk in the park compared to the jobs we have had before. I will not let you ruin this for us. Do you understand?”

Kita continued to glare at her. “No amount of money is worth having to deal with that insufferable brat!” he snapped at her.

“The only insufferable brat I see, is you!” Lula shouted in return. “You have not even introduced yourself to her. You have not smiled… Not that you ever do, but you could have made a damn attempt at looking human. You have not even acknowledged that she is a person. Keep looking down your nose like you are, Kitty, and you will end up getting her killed.”

“Do not call me that,” he sneered.

“I will call you what I want when I want. Do you understand?”

“You are not my superior,” he pointed out.

“No, I am not,” Lula agreed. “I am your little sister that is acting how you should be. Never have I been more ashamed of you than I am now and that’s solely because of the way you are acting. Grow up,” she sneered then headed from the room, slamming the bedroom door shut behind her.

Kita softly growled under his breath in frustration then tossed his tie in the bin under the counter. “You are not the one that was hit in the balls and assaulted or hit on, more than once, and groped in front of their siblings,” he grumbled under his breath, taking his shirt off and tossed it in the sink to soak with his jacket and vest. “You are the one that gets to play and bat their lashes and smile pretty while we stand back in the shadows and mind our tongues and divert our eyes. Don’t you dare put your riding a desk at Interpol on me, Sister. You are the one that could not separate her heart from the job and it cost you your own reputation. I will not follow in your damn footsteps,” he said under his breath so his sister didn’t hear him.

If she would have, there would have been another assault on his testicles, only that one wouldn’t have been a slight tap; it’d require retirement and immediate medical attention.

In the next room, sitting on the floor leaning against the closed door crying was Rain. She didn’t know the bathroom would be a shared one with the very person that wanted nothing to do with her. And when he and Lula started arguing, their voices carried through the wall rather well.

Kita’s complaints and the anger in his words, the distain and hatred towards her, made Rain tear up. Never had she heard so much anger in a person, especially anger towards her! She was the natural peacekeeper, the one that fought to keep everyone happy and not at each other’s throats. She was the one that was always caught in the middle of the shoving match when trying to keep the peace at signings, on set, in the office, on the red carpet…

She was always the one in the middle trying to keep the peace, but never had she been the target or source of such hatred.

Rain had no idea what she had done to offend him as much as she had and so quickly into their contract.

Was it a cultural thing?

Did she accidentally insult him in a way that she wasn’t familiar with since she’s Korean?

Was misinterpreting his actions when he caught her in the stairwell so insulting to his stature in his society that it was inexcusable and worthy of hating her?

No role Myo Mi-Sun had played prepared Seon Rain for this type of situation or man!

Kita Yasuhiro was quite possibly the most stubborn, egotistical, rude, and belittling man to ever exist!

Was she supposed to pay him more? Buy him an apology gift? Do they make greeting cards for when you need to apologize for inadvertently kicking a guy in the balls without actually kicking him, and possibly breaking his nose with your head?

If they did, she needed to get a few hundred of them for the next time, because she knew there would be a next time…

There would be many more times, she feared.

What was she supposed to do?

How could she mend something that she didn’t even understand how she even broke it?!

What would Myo Mi-Sun do?

“That is the million dollar question,” Rain whispered, wiping her eyes.
