5 Cat Comrades

I was surprised by the sudden notification of the System. I thought it was the completion of the mission [Escapee] but it was because of a new quest being triggered.

[Quest triggered!] [Liberator of Monsters]

Description: Free fellow monsters who were caught to be sold like you! (3/38)

Reward: 100 coins per monster freed.

Heh? This quest sure is generous. 100 coins per monster. So if I free them all. I would get 3800 coins? The three kittens who were together with me in the cage were already counted in the progress. Nice! Earned 300 coins from the get-go.

The three kittens who were just playing a while ago have already raced with each other to get out of the cage. However, since the cage was placed in a high shelf they were unable to come down. I can't just leave them alone so I carried them by their neck and brought them down to the ground.

Upon getting on the ground the three kittens curiously roamed the place. Meanwhile, I've begun opening the other cages one by one.

I've made my way over a huge birdcage. In it was a family of colourful birds. With a few twists and turn, using my claw the cage was opened. My progress bar was now (8/38). This is too easy.

It didn't take a while before I've opened a couple of cages more. Now only a few locked cages were left. I'm contemplating whether I should open it or not. Why? Because obviously, the monsters within them looked ferocious! There's a vicious wolf that I left out that would snarl at me whenever I got close so I don't think I'm opening this one. To lose a hundred coins was a bit dismaying but I wouldn't risk my life for it and be the wolf's dinner.

I've currently freed 31 monsters and most of them have already left the shop through the windows that were broken by some monster earlier. So aside from the monsters I left unfreed, I think I'm just about done-.

"Please save us!" The human slaves cried out for help.

Ah? So I did forget about these guys. There were also human slaves here that were being sold like products. Monsters being sold I could understand but human slavery? That is just too inhumane.

Freeing them might not give me rewards but I'm not that selfish who wouldn't help those in need if I'm able to. So being a good cat I slowly unlocked their cages and freed them.

Their locks were a bit more complex but cat-pick locking(+5) worked its charm. It just took a little longer than the other locks but nevertheless I was still able to open it.

"Thank you!"

They gave their thanks but I couldn't care about them anymore as I already made my way over a window. I couldn't help but glance back at the room and see what the shop looked like now.

Broken glasses from windows fell on the floor. Cages which fell down on the floor. There wasn't really a much difference aside from most of the cages not containing monsters anymore. The human slaves I freed have already escaped from the back door of the shop.

Ah! So there's a key hanging on the wall.

I've just noticed the keys on the wall which are I think for the cages. If I knew there were keys I wouldn't bother fiddling with the locks with my claws. I could have just thrown them the keys and let them free themselves. After all, it was such a tussle and there was a time where my claws got stuck and were damaged. Now their all crook at ugly.

Goodbye!

As I said that I've jumped over the window, finally escaping the shop.

[Ding!]

[Quest completed!] [Escapee]

[Quest completed] [Liberator of Monsters]

It was only then that the quests were considered completed.

Hahaha! I'm totally rich right now as I already got a total of 3200 coins! To think that I've struggled to earn 50 coins earlier. I could even buy these gloves permanently now!

[Ding!]

Eh? What is this?

[The three kittens have decided to follow you!]

[Do you accept to be their Master? Y/N]

What?

Looking back I can see the three kittens looking at me, eye begging. Hmm, Well it's not like anything bad will happen!

Yes!

[Three comrades added!]

[System comrade link-activated!]

Huh? What the heck?!?!

What is this "System Comrade" thing?…

"Master!"

Who?

"It's us, master!"

Don't tell me…

"Master! Name us!!!" The three kittens cried out.

Oh, snap! It was the three kittens. They could communicate with me somehow. Well, I think it's normal for cats to communicate with each other but earlier when I tried to talk with them all I could hear were their meows. But now I could understand them!

"I'll name you Luna… then you're Garfield! And you shall.be called Snow!"

To be honest I've come up with those names earlier this day. Luna which meant moon 8n roman was for the black cat like me. Then Garfield for the orange cat obviously and Snow for the white cat who looked like the cat in the movie Stuart Little!

"Meow-some!" The three kittens rejoiced over their names.

Real living cats making cat puns….So cute…

This is no place to talk and workover things. Let's leave the other details later and focus on finding a place to stay for now.

"Let's go!" I could already see some people hurrying over to the direction of the shop. I carried two of them on my back and had one hanging on my mouth. I've slowly walked away stealthily in the shadows.

"Dear Mama!"

How could have this happened!

Inside the shop was a total mess. Most of the monsters were gone and even the slaves have escaped! There must be someone behind this!

"Hey, You! Find the one responsible for this!"

"Yes, sir!"

I'll kill whoever's behind this!
