Maple Tea: Hey

Warm Drew: how's it going for you today

Maple Tea: Tired.

Warm Drew: I see

Warm Drew: Anything on your mind you'd like to talk about?

Maple Tea: I am thinking of quitting my job. Or going only once I need to. I started this zero contract job and it is horrible.

Warm Drew: Hm, expand.

Warm Drew: What kind of job are you doing zero contract at?

Maple Tea: Retail mainly, I also have another one I do as a mail sorter.

Warm Drew: What does it mean exactly? Zero contract?

Maple Tea: And since I am under 21 I get like minimum wage while people who do the same work get high salary.

Maple Tea: Fuck that shit.

Warm Drew: That sucks.

Maple Tea: It is my first time doing job that is zero contract but there isn't much options.

Warm Drew: Sorry, what does that mean in retail? Zero contract? This isn't something I understand.

Maple Tea: worked 36 hours. Nah it is fine. You dont need to know much. In short it is just there is no set times. They call you through another company when they need extra hands. I am like a casual worker and I can decline or accept the hours they offer on that day. Sometimes especially the retail one they may not send anything for a week so you have to wait for a while and if they do it is booked for a whole week. Very inconsistent and unpredictable.

Warm Drew: Oh lord. That is shit.

Maple Tea: It is. While their employers get much higher salary doing the same job I do. Wtf.

Warm Drew: Do you need the money?

Maple Tea: They said after 12 weeks if I work constantly and dont take long breaks for more than few weeks I will get the same amount of hourly pay.

Maple Tea: Who will be there until then? 12 fucking weeks

Maple Tea: Yeah, don't have much options.

Warm Drew: If you need the money and there's nothing else out there than you might be SOL

Warm Drew: but I agree that these practices sound exploitative

Maple Tea: Yeah might as well just get on with it.

Maple Tea: I am just unhappy. Never being treated like this

Warm Drew: The thing about not taking long breaks... it sounds like they're priming you to be a controllable employer or something. I don't know. Like you only advance if you put up with their bullshit.

Maple Tea: Yeah and it is long hours. The only pro is they pay weekly.

Warm Drew: Well...

Maple Tea: I worked long hours and the pay I got. I couldn't believe it. I only knew I would get paid minimum wage until I spoke to them about my current payment.

Warm Drew: That really sucks. If you really need it, maybe you want to go ahead and take the work. But don't forget who you are and what you value in the process.

Warm Drew: Get in and then get out as soon as something better opens up

Maple Tea: I guess.

Maple Tea disconnected.
