Stolen or Kidnapped?

A warm fire burned in the hearth of the cabin. Aspen and Xochi hunkered down in their warm sleeping bags their feet closer to the fire. It was too cold to strip down so the girls wore their hiking clothes. Along with warm wool socks and caps to keep their heads warm. The girls began reminiscing over their lives together, murmuring and giggling at the various memories. Suddenly a loud thunderous sound came from the exterior of the cabin.

"What was that?" Asked Aspen

"I don't know let's find out" replied Xóchitl ecstatic to be investigating the new mystery.

"But I don't wanna" pouted Aspen

" come on you scaredy cat. You won't be able to sleep until you know what's out there. Besides you never know where the adventure will lead us. " Xóchitl wiggled her way way out of her sleeping bag. Aspen too afraid to be on her own, finagled her way as well. The girls threw on their hiking boots and jackets. With a confident look at each other the girls nodded, it was an agreement that only they knew. A promise to keep one another safe. A promise to never leave one another side. I promise to be each other's balance. it was a silent agreement but also a powerful agreement.

Brave and strong as always Xóchitl led the way. The fierce one of the duo always facing fear, while the other followed protecting her back keeping her eyesight where the leader could not see. At first, neither girl saw anything but a dark forest. The girls scanned their surroundings only to find the loud thunderous sound had no origin. Speculating it was lightening Aspen looked in the night sky, but to her dismay the sky was bright and clear with all the stars shining in the dark inky black sky. Xóchitl followed Aspen's lead and speculated the night sky as well. It was then that the two watched an object shaped like a large ball of light pass through the night sky pacing in a zig zag like pattern back and forth. At first it seemed like the object was flying at random places in the sky unable to decide on a particular landing area.

"Your seeing this right? I didn't eat something weird and now I'm hallucinating am I?" asked Xóchitl touching her face to confirm that she was in fact awake.

"No....yeah....no....yeah.....umm I see it too. I'm pretty sure this isn't food poisoning?" Aspen commented back as she cocked her head to the side watching the object in the sky. As if hearing them, the object flew towards them. stopping right above where they stood. "Oh my god!" screamed Aspen as the large object opened what appeared to be a large mouth at the bottom. Suddenly the girls where sucked from the ground. Flying up into the large dark hole above them. For a second neither girl said anything as the were suspended in air floating like clouds in the breeze. The hole sealed beneath them and reality shook their brains reminding them of the current predicament. Instantly the girls screamed in unison. It took a good 5 minutes before either girl stopped screaming. "Okay calm down" reasoned Aspen "Let's assess the situation." Aspen tried her best to take in her surroundings and what just happened.

"Are you out of your fucking mind Aspen?! We have been stolen ...or kidnapped? .......I don't think it's Kidnapped because we aren't kids" stuttered out Xochi

"I believe the proper vernacular is abducted" replied Aspen

"Seriously!? You want to give me a fucking english lesson right now!!!!"

"I'm just saying. Stolen implies goods and yes kidnapped refers to animals or children. I believe in our instance right now it would be considered abducted" Aspen calmly explained

"Listen right now my goods." Began Xochi waving her hands maniacally around her body...."Meaning my body my brain have been fucking stolen. I plan on rescuing my goods back."

"I think what you mean is...."

"Aspen shut up. Do not finish that damn sentence! Pendaja! It's not important right now. Now use that massive brain that you have filled with useless information and help me" an annoyed Xochi replied

"Xochi I hate breaking it to you but your in the exact same place as I am. Suspended in the dark in the middle of a giant fire ball that floats in the sky. I've got nothing in the bank on this one." Aspen was at a loss. Aspen was a premed student. She was one of the best students in her school excelling in most subjects. However, their current situation left her baffled.

"Boy your a bunch of talkers." Came a voice from the dark.
