14 Companion

Magic Plate, a circular disk with a size smaller than the palm. As long as a material could conduct energy from nature, it could be used to craft a Magic Plate.

In places without an establishment called Magic Tower, scarcity of Magic Plates is expected.

Now, in the hands of Morbius is a Magic Plate. This plate could store a magic spell and to store spells on such a plate, a Plate Burner must be used.

Magic Plates are essential, especially in Dungeon Raids. Legends might be strong, but to conquer a floor of a dungeon, sleepless nights, and a plethora of resources is needed. Even a dungeon is enough to wipe out a team of Legends.

Back to the Magic Plates, in Morbius's hand is an Unlimited-Use Age Identification Spell plate. Unlimited-Use plates are only available in the strongest empires and if one could see it in kingdoms, chances are, that plate will be the last unlimited-use plate they will see.

"Young Elle, since we are friends now..." Morbius's eyes glimmered in hope... Or maybe greed as well. He looked at the precious inexhaustible magic plate.

Elle looked at Morbius and sighed. This Magic Plate is an heirloom treasure of the Schultz Family in Violeta's Capital City.

If not for her constitution, she would not need such a device and might not be able to take it away. Morbius is not planning to ask for it. He just wants to know where the lass obtained the treasure.

"What are you going to use it for? I might not be able to give it to you since I'll be chased away from my family." Elle sighed.

Morbius gave the Magic Plate back to Elle and explained why he needs it.

"I have a cultivation manual that requires me to embed the plate in a specific part of my body. The book stated that the material of the magic plate will be dissolved and the magic circle will remain intact in my mind sea."

Elle found something ridiculous in Morbius's statement. "Your mind sea? Isn't that dangerous? A person could only access the mind sea when one could reach the Mind-Body Realm. It is two realms above you and you must first know how to separate your energy source from your body, soul, and mind, or else it would risk your life to Energy Poisoning."

"Energy Poisoning? What's that?" Morbius lacks cultivation knowledge and Energy Poisoning is a term he is unaware of.

Elle thought it is natural, but she found the technique shady. "Energy Poisoning is something that happens when Qi travels to the wrong veins like veins for mana and other forms of energy. The same goes for mana, if it traveled to veins not meant for mana, then it is also a case of Energy poisoning.

Energy Poisoning is also the reason why magicians don't attempt to dual-train martial arts. One could do it if he had a tremendous amount of control over his conflicting energies.

Energy Poisoning is not dangerous when the intensity of different energies in the body is low, but when it integrates into the body, effects would be more apparent and may lead to death."

Morbius was awed. He always finds Elle's intelligence fascinating. She could become a professor of some sort of intelligence division officer of an army.

"What if the energy is pure energy?"

"Pure energy huh? Well, according to research, Pure Energy has characteristics acceptable by the whole body. Also, Pure Energy particles in nature are already smaller compared to refined Qi or refined mana, but the energy is denser. The problem is that the corresponding technique to cultivate Pure Energy is either super scarce or nonexistent."

"The problem is solved. I have the manual, but it requires the Magic Plate you are holding." Morbius felt elated, but he also sighed in defeat when he remembered that the plate is an important heirloom of Elle's family.

Elle pondered a bit. "I could give you the plate, but I need to ask you something..."

Morbius interrupted, "What is it? If it's in my powers I'll grant it. If you want me to marry you... I'll think about it." Morbius blushed a bit. Act your age, you old shit!

Pure Energy is something very scarce amongst cultivators. Morbius did not know anyone who had cultivated pure energy. He might be the first to have the purest energy if he succeeded.

The strength of Lifebound Reversal lies in age. If the technique depends on the magic plate to regulate the cultivation based on age, then being a 4000-year-old will bring a huge effect.

It is stated in the manual that, the cultivation must start from the Energy Absorption realm and the technique will forever be regulated in his case. He is excited about the outcomes.

Morbius is only a Normal Talent cultivator. He had no boosts in his speed nor irrational benefits in any aspect. In terms of potential, he is far from Knight, Sage, and Venerates Talents, and Legend Class is like a cloud he could not reach.

He is quite thankful for the first time that his super old age was put to use. Having Pure Energy is the first step, the next steps to come is what made his dull life more exciting.

"M-mar-marry me? EHEM... I would like to ask. Are you planning to go on an adventure?" Elle was beet red by the sudden marriage propo- I mean suggestion.

Morbius answered, "Maybe after I broke through Energy Refinement Realm. I need to be equipped well before proceeding to the dungeons. Then I will move to an empire to get more resources."

"Bring me with you," Elle said. Morbius was confused. He doesn't know Elle's circumstances and for what reason, she is willing to travel with a friend she got to know just recently.

"It couldn't be that you want to marry me?"

"Nooo, that's not it. Haiz... I want to run away from my Schultz Family and chase my dreams. This Kingdom is too small for me. I want you to promise me that you'll bring me with you. If you could do that, the plate is yours." With firm resolve, Elle, stated her terms, wishing that, Morbius would agree.

Morbius could see the dedication in the girl's eyes. How could he not agree? "Alright, even if without the plate, I could've agreed with your request. But before that, we need to get stronger."

Dreams are good, but one must have the means to realize their dreams. Talking might bring motivation and determination to a new height, but without a push, talks are useless. "By the way what is your dream, that you want to travel with an old man."

Morbius might be an old man, but his age reversal made his age not apparent at all. If he said that he is 4000, 3000, 2000, or even 30 years old, no one would believe him. His young face made it bearable for Elle. Well, she could also travel with an elder version of Morbius as long as she could fulfill her dreams.

"I want to be an Imperial Scholar, one that could unlock knowledge and uncover secrets that will aid humanity. If it could aid in peace, then that'd be better."

Morbius nodded. Morbius's parents were farmers drafted in war (that is what he knew). He knew how painful it is to lose a loved especially him when he was younger. He had not even seen the corpse of his parents. Thanks to the first king and his seniors for guiding him that he grew up morally well-rounded.

Hearing Elle's life goals he supported them. "Okay, it will take a bit longer before we embark. Once, we became Rank S Adventurer, and peak Energy Refinement Realm cultivators, we will embark. I'll also leave the information gathering to you about the kingdoms.

"I'll be an adventurer too? I am just a Foundation Building Realm cultivator though." Elle might be knowledgeable, but she did not practice too much since she handles information gathering most of the time. Most of her theoretical knowledge lies in life skills.

Morbius understood that this girl is not a diligent cultivator. Her dream is to be a scholar and what she trains is her brain.

"If you are still in Foundation Building Realm then it is better. You could still choose what to train. We need to train hard if we want to develop in an Empire. For resources, I might have the highest quality manuals to choose from, but you need to learn to read Ancient Text first."

Elle's eyes sparkled. Knowledge is the love of her life. Even if she needs to be an adventurer it's alright as long as she becomes an Imperial Scholar, she'd do anything she could.

Learning Ancient Texts is not a task for her. It is a gift.

They will start their plan tomorrow. For now...

"Morbius, take this magic plate. If this will aid your strength, then take it as long as you take me to farther places." Elle smiled as if she got a glimpse of light after dwelling in the dark for so long.

"I promise." Morbius smiled as well.

"Now if you're not busy, you could help me while I'm cultivating."

Elle was puzzled. She doesn't know how to aid Morbius.

"Just be with me." Suddenly, Elle could see sparkle effects around Morbius making him look manlier. His deep voice caught her off guard. She could not hide her fluster.

Morbius sat in a lotus position and absorbed the Age Identification Spell plate into his body then...
