1 Questions

It was a Sunday evening, I was preparing dinner with my grandmother before two large men barged into our compound demanding to take me as theirs.

This happened a few days after my mum was reported dead. My mum was a single mother trying as much as she could to raise me and work as a marine. She wasn't always there, and I was never settled in one place so education was hard.

"What do you mean come with you? My mum never told me about my father more so two of them!!"

"Your mother kept it a secret because she didn't want you looking for me" the first man said, he had a strong build, broad shoulders, dark skinned and he look a bit over 30.

"I have proof that I'm your real father!" the second man shouted, he looked drained, heavy eyelids, a big belly and a hoarse voice," this is our wedding certificate."

He handed my grandmother and I the papers, my grandmother then hit me with her cane signaling me to get her glasses.

That reminded me of the times my mum used to spank me because of cutting class. I miss her.

"This proves nothing, the only way to see who's you are is by running a DNA test." my grandmother said, she was a jolly woman but after mum's death anything concerning it made her serious.

"A DNA test!!" both the men gasped.

"Is that a problem, you both do want to know who is my real dad don't you?"

"I can't have a DNA test, I'm highly afraid of needles" the chubby man sighed questioning his masculinity.

"I cant have people search my blood, I'm not doing it." the other one said sounding a bit paranoid.

"We don't need any visitors now please leave!" my grandmother said chasing them away with her cane.

We continued making dinner but the thought of me having a father really puzzled my mind. I wanted to ask my grandmother but she seemed a little distant herself.

We had our dinner at our usual time, 7, though this time it was different, grandmother didn't have any crazy stories of mum to share with me tonight. I had my dinner really fast and headed to my bedroom.

I wasn't allowed to have a smart phone, but I had a landline. I dialed my friend Kay's number, she has a landline too, she never really told me why. I told her about what happened today.

"I think your grandmother's hiding something, I think its time you asked her some questions." Kay always loved second proofing her opinion, she's so confident nothing like me.

"Remember last time? she didn't talk to me for a week! I think I should dig around by myself and find more to this story."

"Go to sleep Lauren" I wondered if she heard our whole conversation.

"Gotta go Kay, talk to you later."

I turned off the lights and kept turning and tossing thinking about my dad, well whoever he is.
