4 A Carriage For Every Little Thing (3)

[Are you sure this track belonged to the human?]

One of the six goblins questioned their guide. Because this goblin is the only one to see Mu Qing Lang earlier, he was chosen to be their guide on this trip.

[I'm sure!]

The goblin replied then with a hit on his own chest.

They tracked Mu Qing Lang for half a day and found him at last, before the sun sets for the day. Perhaps it was due to the fatigue gathered from their journey, the group decided to hide somewhere not far from Mu Qing Lang and attack him the next morning.

As for Mu Qing Lang, he turned on the stove on the kitchen and boiled the Mingwen Soybean as his dinner for tonight. Luckily, it was just enough to fill his stomach. As there were nothing to do in the night, Mu Qing Lang decided to call it a day not long after his dinner.

Zzz...

[Aoouuu!]

The howl from a wolf brings Qing Lang awake and be cautious. Remembered that Xiao Hui is still outside, Qing Lang put on his clothing and quickly went out with the soup pot in his right hand.

"Eh?" only by coming outside of the carriage tells him it's daytime. Based on the sun's positioning, it should be between 5 to 6 am in the morning.

While there was not much of a change on the surrounding, he noticed that a tiny but strong stalk of Xian-Ren Grass grown out from the soil. Since the Xian-Ren Grass only takes 48 hours to mature, it becomes nothing out of unordinary in his eyes.

"Good morning, Xiao Hui. Let me feed you some of the grains from the Chang-Er Bronze Wheat. I'll collect more of them when I come back." Qing Lang rubbed his hand on the ear of wheat and separating them from the straw. The grains are fed to Xiao Hui that eats happily, while the straw made its way to Qing Lang's back.

"I'll have to pay attention to my surrounding. The howl that came from a wolf shouldn't be just a dream of mine. In the meantime, I'll start by tending the grass and widen the path to the next short-grass area, and also making sure that I arrange some defensive measure to protect myself at night."

"Right now, my best accessible option would be the straws from the Chang-Er Bronze Wheat. As for the shrubs for Mingwen Soybean, I'll have to ignore them until I found myself a better tool." knowing what he'll have to do next, Mu Qing Lang starts to work on the area leading him to the pond and also the next area.

Meanwhile...

[Gua, Gua... Save me...]

Unexpectedly, the team of six goblins becomes the replacement for Mu Qing Lang. Two Ashen Wolves came closer to the area at night and hunted the goblins as food. One of them was killed silently, and the second goblin's cry awoken the others as they escape.

They were slaughtered, one after another. The last goblin, also the one that guided the others here, end up jumping into the water to save himself. As for the howling, it is to call for more companion to bring the food back to their den.

It was unfortunate, but for the goblins, losing half of their members for the sake of the other half wasn't too terrible at all. At least, their death served as a warning to the goblin village to stop provoking this target.

The goblin stays inside the water for hours, occasionally coming up for a breath of air. This situation continues until the last Ashen Wolf left the pond. Only after it left the goblin came out from the water.

The low temperature of the pond water caused the goblin to shiver. If there were nothing to eat to replenish its energy, this goblin is very likely to die here in the next few hours.

But within every living being, their tenacity to keep surviving is extremely strong. The goblin crawled its way back to where Mu Qing Lang is, hoping that this human would be a kind being that willing to give him a chance to survive.

After all, the human they attacked always have something weird that allowed the goblin to regrow their severed limbs, evolving into Dark Goblin, and much more weird treasures. They once tasted a strip of bacon, and the taste is marvelous enough for them to trade the useless shiny stones for it.

Unfortunately, that human is killed by another pack of goblins not too far from them, and the food was robbed away.

[Gua...]

"Eh? What's that sound?" the cry alerted Mu Qing Lang as he inspects his surrounding. Noticing a green being lied on the pathway towards the pond, Mu Qing Lang is surprised that there's another two-legged creature here.

But how weak the green creature looks, it must be nearing the death door.

"What happened to this little creature? Should I feed him some food so it can get back to where he came from?" Mu Qing Lang considered his option as he forgets about being cautious. While he remembered to pay attention to hungry wolves, he forgets about the goblins nature.

All the work he did in the morning offered him two woven straw bags to stock the edible wheat and soybeans. As there is still some water inside the Spatial Water Gourd, Mu Qing Lang carries the goblin back to where the Carriage of Immortality parked.

"You'll wait outside for a while. I'll come back with some piping hot soybeans for you." Qing Lang entered that small carriage with the goblin already fallen unconscious.

The next moment when it wakes up is due to the fragrant cooked soybeans on a bowl. It was made from a stone, but nevertheless, useful enough to hold the soybeans.

[Gua! Gua!]

The goblin ate the food like it was starved for days. Although it was flavorless as there was no spices or condiments, this food can be said to be the most delicious after the bacon strips.

Seeing the goblin chump away the bowl of soybeans, Mu Qing Lang smiled and went back to continue what he was doing earlier. The goblin studied what he did, and to repay the human for his kindness, it came closer to see how it was done.

Firstly, the sharp stone is used to cut the straw on the bottom before the wheat on the top is crushed and stored on a woven straw pouch. The straws are then gathered at one section to be woven into something else.

As there were no proper tools for working, his woven products can be said to be crude and troublesome. If he was not being careful when holding the straw pouch, Qing Lang could easily cut his finger or palm from holding it recklessly.

The smart goblin helps as it learned about how to work like him. Due to their short stature, handling the straw of wheat is nothing but a play for them. While Qing Lang has to crouch to cut the straw, the goblin just needs to reach a little lower.

A man and a goblin, the teamwork is comparable to the work of three adults. Mu Qing Lang did not become petty with the food as well. A big pot of cooked soybeans is taken out and poured on the goblin's stone bowl and a smaller bowl for himself.

That night, the goblin sleeps on the stack of straws gathered during the daytime while Mu Qing Lang sleeps inside the Carriage of Immortality.

Today, he found one useful plant other than the weed, wheat, and soybeans. Like how the table works, it identifies the plant immediately when Mu Qing Lang took a seat on the chair.

"Finally, I found something that has the potential to become something useful like the Xian-Ren Grass. I wonder if I concoct them together to create Xian-Qin Pill and Small Xian Pill, what can both of them be used for?" Mu Qing Lang smiled and collected the sand-like seeds to be replanted tomorrow morning.

Happily, he went up to his bed and closed his eyes for another day of rest, with his mind filled with a dream about how great will the farm becomes.
