56. The search

Elliot walked into the woods with a newfound sense of urgency. Sheree was close, and she was alone. With every step he took, he scanned the area to his right and his left. He found nothing but undisturbed foliage on either side. He still felt her somewhere nearby, and that was all he needed to keep walking. 

"I can't believe you kept all this a secret," Albert said from somewhere behind Elliot. He and Rayne couldn't seem to go more than a few minutes without one of them starting the next argument.

"All of what? I didn't know any fucking thing. Besides, it's not like you were dying to hear what I had to say," Rayne responded.

Elliot did his best to tune them out. They were angry at each other, but at least they still had one another. 

"Guys, can we focus on finding Sheree? You two can argue later," he said, causing both of his friends to stop talking.
