Ch. 2 : 3 Hours Before the Outbreak

When he goes home, he subconsciously stopped by the market, and after awhile, he exited the entrance with a bag of beverages, eggs, rice, eggs, sausages, and another bag of mushroom and vegetable. On other hand, he hugging a box of discounted beef flavored cup noodle.

He cooks some rice and a fresh water fish into fish soup, then ate it happily. Today he meet a good person who supplemented this month's allowance, 500 yuan for cup noodle, really kind, gullible young rich guy! He can at least save more money this month, without having to tighten his belt! He hope that he will meet this kind of people often! \(≧∇≦)/

" Ah... Come to think of it, I forgot to ask his name. Does secretary department are all good looking like him? " He thought out loud.

But then again, maybe it would be long until they meet again.

In the morning, he deliberately woke up faster, and bring a big bottle filled soy milk and last night's snack supply. Since there's a lot of stuff, bringing it inside the office plainly might invoke another round of gossip, so he decided to bring a big backpack and stuffed all of his foods inside, pretending he bought a laptop to work. After all, they only see a guy with shirt enter the company, they won't know that he is just an office assistant that seldom use computers to work :)

He entered the company and surprisingly, the office was very noisy. There's also some people who wore mask, while gossiping around. But he didn't have time to think, because 2 orders immediately sent to his phone. He grab a wet wipe and using it on his hand and phone, then wear a mask. Just to be careful. Maybe it's just a bad flu fever season going around, you never know.

Today is Saturday, which is also work time, but they can get off at 3 in afternoon. But the work start early, that's why he didn't have time to make breakfast. He can eat a warm bun with a lot of filling or chicken noddle soup, all for free. But the beverage section still charging money, that's why he brought a bottle of soy milk. He queued patiently, and after picking his breakfast, he went down

Shi Xiao never joined another table, he always choose an empty table and sat down. It's not that weird since there's not a lot of people coming yet.

" Hey, did you came here yesterday at afternoon? "

" No? But I heard something happened. "

" Yeah, a staff from administrative department suddenly fell unconscious. "

" Maybe he's too tired at work? "

" Hey, if it's just that, I won't talk about this with you. Apparently, someone in his department heard that his Uncle is a professor of some science lab, didn't he bragged he got a picture of the iceberg from his uncle?? "

" Iceberg? That appeared a month ago? "

" Yeah! It's been a month, still no result come out, do you think, maybe, that new flu fever come because they visiting that iceberg? "

" Huh, maybe! "

Shi Xiao enjoyed his chicken noddle soup while listening to the nearby conversation.

A month ago, there's a strange phenomenon appeared, a fisherman came back saying there's an iceberg appearing in middle of the sea. At first, many didn't believe the fisherman, but other 6 iceberg also quickly discovered at other places. Soon the world start to questioning the weird iceberg, especially people on middle equator. The water surrounding the iceberg are ice cold, but 5 meters away, the water is back to normal temperature, which is impossible to even silently freeze over and even higher than sea level. Even Shi Xiao who didn't often watch news know because it's become super hot gossip on internet.

There's no earthquake, or tectonic movement from the place iceberg appear, they just come out of nowhere. If not for the fact that the fisherman accidentally went too far from his usual route, maybe it won't be discovered so fast. From satellite feed, it just appeared in blink of an eye, there's not even a smallest signal picked up, like they are always exist in the first place, just hiding from our eyes all along.

This made several countries alarmed, start suspecting which country actually causing this. But there's no evidence pointing on any suspicious trail. Some religious people even said it's the end of the world. But a month passed, there's nothing there but ice, there's also no movement from any other countries beside investigating nearest iceberg spot.

But now this happened, maybe that iceberg thing going to be blown up to top place of hottest news in weibo again. He should check it later.

He sat down for awhile to digest, then go back to his spot, waiting for order.

" Xiao Shi! " A gentle woman voice called out on him in front of the restroom.

" Oh, Qian Jie, is there anything you need? " He politely greeted back.

The woman in front him is Song Qian Yi, an intelligent and talented beauty. She worked from administrative office and managed to climb up to secretary department. There's also a lot of guy in different department chasing after this goddess. To avoid the ire of other people, he calls her Qian Jie, which showing that he is younger and definitely not interested in chasing their goddess. After all, Qian Jie is only taking care of her acquaintance from high school.

" This sister is having an engagement party tomorrow, I wanted to invite you to my party! Tomorrow is Sunday, so this time, you can't say you didn't have time! " She stuffed a bright beige colored card, a beautiful invitation card decorated in red ribbon.

" Qian Jie, wait a second. " Then Shi Xiao took something out of his pocket, a mask inside a clear ziploc bag. " It's still new. I heard there might be another wave of flu virus going around, you should wear one, just in case. "

" Oh, okay. Actually, Xiao Mao also told me to wear one, but I don't have one in home. "

" Then grab some from our restroom. We have several boxes. "

After promising he would deliver it at lunch time, he send her to the lift and left after the lift arrived at her destination.

" Ding! " A notification come, indicating the first order of the day.

" Ah...., good work everybody! Let's go eat lunch! " An exhausted assistant slammed the table and cheers together.

Today was quite busy, there's several assistant suddenly reporting sick. There's also some that looks a bit pale but still insisting to come to work. Shi Xiao's coworker also told to go home at 11 after almost fell unconscious, making the work more and more difficult.

He brought some mask as he entered the elevator. Unfortunately, there's some people coughing inside, so he backed off and instead using stairs.

And on the stairs, he unexpectedly meet some acquaintance. He bowed his head as a greeting and proceed to enter the secretary office, disregarding their sneer. He knows that some of them were jealous he managed to befriend someone in secretary department, but no one excessively express their dissatisfaction, so the matter quietly settled like that.
