Chapter 1: Terms and conditions

Within the empty void a Grey orb of light can be seen floating, on the opposite side of the orb particles that seem to appear from the endless Nothingness of the void could be seen materializing.

These particles where seemingly made of shards of light, these shards were of myriad colors and different intensities when it came to brightness.

All these shards started moving in tandom, dancing around one another forming a sight most would only see in dreams. The tempo of the shards movement slowly increasing forming a vortex that was rapidly changing colors starting from the bottom the shards movement slowed.

The shards then began to shift and turn into different positions all moving towards what seems to be their pridestined coordinates, like pieces of a puzzle the shards started interconnecting, from thousands to one, all fell into place and what was revealed could only be described as pure perfection.

(MC POV)

I couldn't believe my eyes, 'then again do I even have any at this point, I think it would be more appropriate to say I couldn't believe my soul', I thought to myself as I was blessed enough to witness the scenery before me. For the first time in a long time I was lost in the beauty that laid before me.

There in front of me stood a human figure its eyes seemed like two burning orbs of light, a light so Devine and pure that all the stars in existence would dim down in their presence, there where no other features that could be identified, the entirety of the body seemed dark as an abyss, it made me think I was standing before a black hole, the only thing that made me doubt the fact that within the beings body I could see galaxies of different sizes slowly twisting and moving.

It felt as if my entire being was being pulled in by a subtle force, fortunately the pull wasn't a strong one and I had managed to stay on the same spot I was floating over.

I lost in reverence when I was snapped out of it by a booming voice that shook me to the core reverberated in my mind, my thoughts all came to a screaching halt.

The voice was a unique one to say the least, in fact it wasn't one it sounded like a perfect symphony, an amalgamation of voices, one could not identify whether it was male or female, young or old, neither could you get an emotion from it it sounded emotionless at times and at others you would feel myriad of emotions, the encounter was overwhelming.

It took some time for me to recover myself and only then was I able to register what the voice had said.

"Welcome to my realm young mortal" the being before me said.

After a while I finally answered, "Forgive my rudeness but, may I enquire as to who you are?"I asked.

"The fact that you are welcoming me means that you brought me here one perpose correct?" I added.

"Indeed you are correct I brought you here with a purpose" the being said to me while conjuring a table, two chairs and two cups of a lime green tea.

The being moved to sit on one of the chairs whilst I couldn't help but be in awe at the display of power as I was watching the event and suddenly my appearance stured slowly my soul started changing form and before I knew it I looked like my old self once again. Bowing in gratitude I took a seat across from the being.

"To answer your first question, my name is one that your current self is unable to comprehend, if I where to tell you, your soul may very well fade into Nothingness" it said, while slowly drinking some of the tea.

"I see, how can I be of assistance to you?" I say whilst drinking from the cup presented to me. The being seemed surprised,

"I was watching you for quite some time I never expected you to drink without any caution." it said.

"Usually that would be the case but the fact that you are essentially a God, and from what my instincts are screaming at me if you want me dead, or deader than I already am anyways then there would be nothing I could do, so that fact that I'm still in one piece means you probably won't kill me for now, plus I was once taught that We cannot banish dangers, but we can banish fears. We must not demean life by standing in awe of death." I replied, to my surprise with every gulp I took from the tea my hazy soul started becoming clearer and more solid by the second.

It seems this tea was a treasure in its own right.

"So that's how it is, anyways on to the reason why you were brought before me, simply put I have a job for you" the being before me said.

At that very moment my face lost all expression and in a monotone voice I replied "I'm listening" this was a habit I picked up while dealing with clients, at would often intimidate them enough to not take our talks likely.

"We Gods will grant you passage into our myriad worlds in return you will be given targets from time to time to eliminate." the being answered and without missing a beat it continued.

"Of course you shall be compensated for your troubles, we shall grant you rewards based on the level of the person who you are tasked to dispose of."

Hearing this my face stayed the same but internally the shock was emence, I couldn't believe what I heard and was having trouble seeing through their motives.

"Why would beings of your caliber require me for such minor task that probably take you a mere glance to solve?" I questioned.

"It is simple really, beings of our caliber are not permitted to interfere with the lower realms, it would disrupt the delicate balance and it would most likely lead to grave consequences if we where to do so, however this law can be bypassed by sending a champion instead, and that is where you come in" it said.

Now I understood.

"So that's why, in that case, what's in it for me?" I asked with the same monotone voice.

"If you accept I shall grant you any five wishes to start you off, you will be given unrestricted access to certain plains of existence within our control, and you will gain the chance to leave your name in history and be immortalized" the being answered.

I unconsciously spoke my thoughts out loud "I don't want to achieve immortality through my work. I want to achieve it through not dying." the being chuckled and responded

"That can also be arranged the opportunities to gain immortality will be plentiful but it's up to you to grasp them".

After some contemplation I spoke up "I have only one condition, you are not allowed to force me to accept the missions whether I do them or not the desition lies solely with me, you can not penalize or threaten me in any way shape or form for not doing them"

After a long silence the awaited answer finally arrived "Your conditions are acceptable".

Without any hesitation I answer, "I look forward to what will hopefully be a long if not eternal relationship".
