1 World Championship

Author's Note: The Vol 1 "World Championship" is more like a prologue. The story starts in Vol 2 "Breaking the fourth wall". Vol 1 introduces Mc and the game "Card Craft Stargazer's Legend". Feel free to start with Vol 2 but as the author, I recommend starting from Vol 1.

...

"I am Chris Chaplin and tonight I will be your host.

Welcome to the 25th edition of the Card Craft Stargazer's Legend world championship sponsored by Webnovel, functional stories hub" The host climbed the stage as he introduced himself and welcomed the audience to the event.

"Over the last 25 years, Card Craft Stargazer's Legend has redefined online gaming across the world by creating the world's first-ever Crypto Card online game, here no card is the same. Packed with all the action of card duelling, the pleasure of trading and collecting unique cards along with logistical and tactical challenges of creating cards and forming a perfect duelling deck." The crowd cheered enthusiastically as the huge jumbotrons in the venue played best of Card Craft Stargazer's Legend video montage.

"Tonight we all are present here to witness one of the important events of this year, the finals of the 25th Card Craft Stargazer's Legend World Championship."  The host introduced tonight's main event, the finals of the world championship that is to be held soon.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, put your hands together and welcome the final contenders for the world champion title of the 25th edition of the Card Craft Stargazer's Legend, Ethan Flynn and Ted Willis." The host welcomed the two finalists to the stage.

"Ted Willis everybody, as our 4-time championship title holder he needs no introduction whatsoever." The host introduces the contestants to the audience. He started with his personal and the crowd favourite, Ted Willis.

"Ted Willis has started his gamer career with Card Craft Stargazer's Legend back when he was just 14 years old and 5 years later he is already a 4-time undefeated champion of the world's most played and top gross online game ever." The jumbotrons displayed the video montage of Ted Willis winning the championship 4 times in a row. As the audience applauded exuberantly.

"As most of you know Ted Willis is quite popular and active on Yourtube, Glitch and Vinstagram as an online game streamer amassing a total of 164 million followers across all three platforms. That's almost half of the US population. If I didn't know better I would say he is more popular than the current US president who only gained 82 million votes." The host was not exaggerating, Ted Willis was so popular in the gaming community that he had become the definition for the word pro-gamer.

"Ted Willis, fans firmly believe that you will continue your undefeated legend today. No offence to Mr Flynn here but some even say that you have this year's champion title in the bag. What do you have to say to that?" Having introduced Ted Willis the host asked him about his opinion on his fans blind faith.

"Well Chris, my fans have always been generous and enthusiastic when it comes to supporting me. That's why I always make it a point to live up to their wishes. And let me make this clear to you if you had any doubts 'I am here to win' " Ted's words betrayed the humble smile on his face.

"Ted, In your 5 years career as a professional gamer you have broken and set many records. One of them being the first-ever 4-time undefeated champion of Card Craft Stargazer's Legend. As one of your fans I have to ask you this, will you be breaking your own record tonight?" The Host was no longer trying to sound impartial, he declared Ted as his favourite without caring for professionalism.

"As I said Chris, I am here to win. If winning means setting new records and breaking old ones, then let's break some." Ted was brimming with confidence and he did not hide his intention to become the first-ever 5-times undefeated champion of Card Craft Stargazer's Legend. The host's flattery and the raving mob's applause was like adding oil to fire.

"Thank you, Ted. Let's hope you keep your promise." Being warned by his superiors for showing his bias the host stopped focusing on his favourite and shifted to the next contender, "Next up we have the Darkhorse of this year's championship who crossed all hurdles on his way to the top with ease and climbed the ranks faster than ever before, ladies and gentlemen please welcome Ethan Flynn."

"Ethan is 15-years-old this year. This is Ethan's first year joining Card Craft Stargazer's Legend fam and he has already made it to the finals of the world championship. Fans say that he has cracked Card Craft Stargazer's Legend as he has achieved so much in so little time and made it all the way to the finals of the 25th World Championship."  Though the host was biased towards Ted, Ethan's achievements made him enthusiastic as he read them.

"Ethan, how does it feel making it to the big leagues on your first try?" The host interviewed Ted while the Jumbotron played a video montage on Ethan's journey in the world championship so far.

"Too easy" Ethan mouthed two words just two words which were enough to rile up the crowd. The angry crowd booed at Ethan's arrogant words. As each person in the audience was a hardcore gamer who has spent years playing Card Craft Stargazer's Legend. They knew how hard it was to create and collect high ranking cards to create the perfect duelling deck.

"Ethan, you have set the record as the fastest to climb the ranks in Card Craft Stargazer's Legend. What's your secret? Please enlighten your fellow Stargazers." The host changed the topic in Ethan's favour so that he can quench the audience's anger towards him by revealing some helpful tips for fellow Stargazers to soar through the ranks. Hearing the host, the audience settled down as they were willing to forget Ethan's arrogant words if he was willing to share some helpful tips for better gameplay.

"There is no perfect duelling deck. And the secret behind my fast gameplay is Money" Ethan's words once again left the crowd exasperated. Ethan did not mind sharing his secret as nobody would ever imitate him. If they could then they would have already thought of it. Ethan has 1.3 million secrets behind him soaring through the ranks and reaching championship finals in a year. Yes, he spent nearly 1.3 million dollars this year to collect and form different duelling decks for each scenario, storyline and opponent he faced in the game.
