Confusing Feelings

"Enter," she said when she heard a knock on her door. She knows who is it even without asking. No one dares knock on her door here in the WIZ after the face-off game in the Infinity game room. She was accepted fully by the members of the club.

She still has few days left with her two weeks off before she totally settled down here, she doesn't have to be here yet but she prefers coming here than staying too long at Madame Bae's house. She still finds it annoying to attend so many parties at home. It seems like Madame Bae never runs out of reason to throw a party.

"Are you done?" Nina asked when she entered Ellise sleeping quarters.

"Not yet, but almost," she said, swiping a red rose shade lipstick. It shades matches perfectly on her Carolina Herrera dress. She stood up and put on her shoes. She smoothes out the dress as she twirls around the full-body mirror that Nina gifted her.

Apparently, she noticed that her room has no full-body size mirror, where she could check her outfit. Ellise was surprised by how perceptive Nina is.

"What do you think?" she asked as she observed herself from the mirror. She put down her hair tonight, which she didn't usually do, especially inside the WIZ club, because having her hair down can be a hassle while playing a game. She likes putting her hair in a bun or in a ponytail to keep her hair away from her face while she plays.

"When was the last time you see this friend of yours?" she sat down on the wooden crate on the foot of Ellise's bed while she watched her spray some perfume and put a watch on her wrist.

"Hmm, more than two years ago, I think. I met her when I went to Tokyo with my aunt. That was the first time I've met her and another friend." she said, putting her phone inside her purse, and motion to Nina to get up.

"Why did you ask?" she asked her.

"Nothing really. I was just surprised that you have a friend," she giggles, then look at her to check if she got offended.

"I was also surprise to be considered as a friend," she said nonchalantly. "Other than you, I don't talk to a lot of people."

"I'm honored." she teased her as they walked to the parking lot where Nina's husband is already waiting.

The casual remark of Nina somehow stuck on Ellise's mind. She honestly wonders how Jess and Dana consider her as a friend. Other than the few chats, and emails they exchange while she was in Oslo, she didn't do anything for them. The birthday and holiday gifts she sent couldn't be counted as something big. Hence, she finds it surprising to be called a friend.

The biggest surprise though was with Grand and Bobby. She knows them from hanging out in the skatepark at East City. She would hang out and watched them practice some tricks, and before she knew it that time, Bobby asked her if she wants to hang out with them. Which she did, because she was bored at that time, and their group was the ones who can do the best tricks at that skatepark.

Other than that, she did nothing with them. So, when Grand told her that Bobby wanted to meet for all time's sake, she was utterly surprised. She never thought that they considered her a friend before. She knows how she is. Her bad temper is legendary. And having a resting bitch face doesn't help either.

"Well, aren't you two a feast for the eyes," Wan said, but his attention was only focused on his wife. He didn't even give her a look. Ellise rolled her eyes and didn't wait for him to open the car door for her. She went inside to the back seat and waited for the love birds to finish their sweet talks.

Ellise wears a disgusted look on her face as she looks at them, but deep inside she feels envious of how Nina laughs happily at his husband's shallows compliment. She couldn't understand why a girl as smart as Nina, feels for the words that came out of her husband's mouth when it is quite obvious that those words are nothing but lip service, or maybe not... but then does she really needs to hear them from another person that she is beautiful when she is well aware that she is, Ellise thought as she absentmindedly stare at them still outside of the car.

She picked up her phone and checked her games, it's better to level up on her games that waste her time with the stupid couple whispering god's know what. Another pang of envy hits Ellise heart when even in the closed confinement of the car, she could hear the ringing of Nina's laugh. Ellise eyebrows furrowed as her fingers pressed harder than necessary on the button of her phone.

After what seems like an eternity the couple finally went inside the car, acting lovey-dovey like she doesn't exist in the backseat of the car.

"Aren't we on a tight schedule?" she asked Mr. Wan when she heard him fake coughing to get her attention.

"Your aunt sent a message that they are running late because the meeting ended late, and they are caught in traffic," he said as he smoothly gets the car out of the tight parking spot.

"Miss E, did DT say something to you?" he asked after a moment of silence in the car.

She didn't look up from her game, because she doesn't want to see Mr. Wan's expression. She has a feeling that DT's uncle is pitying her, for a reason she doesn't know.

"No. Is there anything that I should know?" she asked because it feels like Mr. Wan is waiting for her answer.

"Nothing really. I was just wondering if DT said something to you since he insisted to pick you up from Madame Bae's house."

"Well, you told him to do so. What's surprising about that?" she asked annoyed with the teasing tone of her new boss.

"Did I?" he said, mysteriously.

"What do you even mean by that?" she finally looked up from her game, but Mr. Wan had his eyes on the road.

"If DT didn't say anything, then I can't say anything," he said, without looking at her.
