61 Wang Shu and Shao Wei in High School

Seeing Shao Wei staring intently at him, Wang Shu couldn't help but think as if he couldn't conceal anything from Shao Wei.

They have known each other for years and Shao Wei was the person who knew him the most besides his parents. Now that he thinks about it, Shao Wei had probably already known his fear and was just keeping quiet about it.

Wang Shu shed all his pretense away and said, "What if I am also scared? Aren't you too?"

Shao Wei smiled at Wang Shu admitting that he is scared, he then held out his hands again in front of Wang Shu.

"What?" Wang Shu was puzzled.

"Since you are scared, and I am too. How about holding hands like what we did earlier?" Shao Wei said.

Wang Shu didn't hesitate and took Shao Wei's hand. For Wang Shu, this action didn't mean a thing but providing comfort to each other, however, unbeknownst to him was that it was completely different for Shao Wei.

Both of them lay on their back with their hands clasped with each other.

"Shao Wei." Wang Shu called out.

"Hmm."

"What if something comes up from the forest suddenly?"

"Animals?"

"No, I mean, you know, those unknown things..."

"Ghosts?"

"..." Wang Shu kept silent.

"Don't worry, ghosts are not real."

"How can you know? The world is so vast and you can't possibly know everything. And many people testify that they are real... Wait, I thought you were also scared?" Wang Shu looked at Shao Wei puzzled, he thought Shao Wei was also scared of ghosts just like him.

"I am scared of the dark, not ghosts." Shao Wei excused, he couldn't possibly say the truth that he was just faking it just to hold his hand right?

"You don't look like one who is scared though."

"I may look like this outside, but inside..."

"Hmm, you've got a point." Wang Shu agreed, he didn't dwell on it further and threw it on the back of his mind. For him, it's not important whether Shao Wei was really scared or not.

The two continued the night talking with each other about random things, distracting each other from the fact that they are in a tent beside the forest.

Wang Shu gradually calmed down and eventually, he fell asleep.

Shao Wei could hear Wang Shu's faint breathing beside him. He looked at him intently, like he was committing every part of his face in his memory.

He could never get enough of looking at Wang Shu, he could do this every second, every minute, every hour of every day. Shao Wei's sight then lands onto his hand that is clasped with Wang Shu's.

A glimmer flashed by his eyes as he remembers something from the past.

Back then, their hands were also like this. Clasped together, not letting go. He could still remember every single detail of that fateful day...

Because that was the day he fell in love with Wang Shu.

Shao Wei has always been a silent kid, he rarely talks to others which led to others teasing him when he was in first-year high school.

Back then, Shao Wei was small and thin, unlike when he was now in the present. His classmates would constantly bully him but he never fought back nor cried out a complaint. He just silently endured it.

Shao Wei came from an ordinary family, he was only able to go to this prestigious high school because of his scholarship. That's why no matter what his classmates do to him, he never fought back for he was afraid of going into trouble and losing his scholarship.

It was just some teasing and occasional pushing him down, he could endure it. For his family, he could endure it.

Shao Wei's days passed by like this and he was prepared to continue his school life like this, but everything changed when a transfer student came to their class.

Yes, it was Wang Shu.

"Nice to meet you all! My name is Wang Shu! I hope we could all be good friends!" A high school Wang Shu said in front, he was grinning widely, his eyes were bright and his whole being screams 'young, wild and free."

When Shao Wei first saw him, the first thing that came to his mind was that this person was his total opposite. It was impossible for him to be able to get along with this guy.

"Okay, Wang Shu, sit at the vacant seat there at the back." Their teacher said.

Wang Shu nodded enthusiastically and went to the vacant seat to sit.

Coincidentally, this vacant seat was just right beside Shao Wei, because he is bullied, no one wants to sit beside him, leaving the seat beside him always empty.

Upon sitting, Wang Shu looked at Shao Wei beside him and smiled widely, "Hi, my name is Wang Shu! You are?"

Shao Wei just looked at him and didn't answer, what's the point?

"Hey, didn't you hear me?"

"Hey, I just want to know your name."

"We are going to be seatmates so we have to get along alright?"

Wang Shu continued pestering Shao Wei making Shao Wei furrowed his brows.

This guy... He is too loud.

Shao Wei just ignored him and looked outside the window beside him, hoping that this will hint Wang Shu that he doesn't want to talk with him.

On the other hand, Wang Shu was puzzled. Why is he ignoring me?

"Hey, are you mute?" He asked after contemplating. That was the only reason he could think of why this person is ignoring him ah!

Shao Wei didn't know whether to laugh or cry at the wild imagination of Wang Shu. If he is mute, how could he possibly be able to study in this school right?

He looked at Wang Shu and said, "No."

Seeing this stone man finally responding to him, Wang Shu was excited, just as he was about to reply to Wang Shu, the student in front of him whispered to him.

"You are Wang Shu right? If I were you, I won't talk to Shao Wei. Nothing comes good with talking to him."
