11 Contention

The class walked out of the tunnel, and standing right in front of them was All Might.

They gathered around the entrance, comparing outfits.

Ochako was wearing a black and white skin-tight suit, showing her curves wonderfully. Her pink visor covered and protected her face.

Tsuyu's body suit, green and black, suited her frame and fit her frog motif perfectly. The goggles drove the froggy image home.

Itsuka was wearing her beautiful qipao, an eye-catching deep blue, with her black corset.

Tetsutetsu and Eiko wear basically identical, except for the colors, and the tight shirt that Eiko wore over her small chest. The pants and shoulder covers gave them an industrial look.

Ibara was wearing her white robe, and giving all of the other girls slightly judgmental looks.

Katuski was wearing his black pants, red and black tank top, and had huge green gauntlets designed to look like grenades.

Hitoshi had what looked like a gas mask around his neck, and the same ribbon Aizawa sensei had around his neck, wearing a black jumpsuit with white shoulder pads and elbows.

Momo was wearing thigh-high shorts, a utility belt, and a vambrace with a screen on her left wrist.

Her ample chest was covered in a sleek halter sports bra that left little to the imagination. Her combat boots ended mid-calf.

Mina and Ochako had a hard time keeping their eyes from wandering over Momo's costume, faces beet-red.

Ochako looked around and, not seeing Izuku, raised her hand to get All Might's attention.

"Sensei, isn't Deku supposed to be here by now?" All Might looked at her and nodded.

"Quite right, Uraraka. Midoriya should be along shortly."

"I bet Aniki's suit is super awesome and totally manly," Eiko nudged Katsuki, "what do you think, Bakugo?"

"I would hope so...Damn nerd spent a whole fucking month designing it," Katsuki smiled.

'Show-off is going to scare the pants off these extras.'

While they were chatting and admiring their costumes, a dull roar started to grow closer.

Katsuki smirked and threw a glance at All Might.

All Might's head popped up, scanning for the source of the sound.

The others followed suit, searching the sky.

"Is this part of the test?!"

"More robots!?"

"Look!"

"Over there, it's a missile!"

"Duck and cover!"

He streaked towards the city, crossing the distance between the sports yard and Ground Beta in under a minute.

He did a tight circle around the entrance, scanning for a good spot to land.

'T͘opog̸ra̧phy Map͏p̢e͟d͞. Plot͏ti̡ng͝ de͟scent͞ co̶urs̨ȩ. Ready for the razzle-dazzle, boss?' 'Hit it.'

'Prob̷i̷n͜g ͏l͠oc̶a̢l ne̕t͢w̵ork. C̢on ne͜ct͏ion establi̡͞s͠hed.̢ A̧c ce̢ss̡ing͡ local ͝ínte rc̛̕om.͟ B͞róa̷dc̀àsting.̕'

The speakers across the entire testing zone kicked on, a shredding guitar riff exploded out.

Kyoka was the first to hear the music.

"Are you kidding me!? What a nerd!"

Katsuki's smile grew and he rolled his eyes.

He let the song play while circling, lining up for the landing, then blasted towards the ground.

He didn't let off the throttle until he was a couple meters from the ground, firing thrusters in reverse, spinning his legs out to arrest the fall.

He landed on both feet with a heavy crack of the concrete, next to All Might. The hero gave him a wide smile and a look of amusement.

The song cut out, and the rest of the class stood in awe.

"Quite the entrance, Young Midoriya!"

Izuku turned to All Might, a huge smile on his face.

"I learned from the best, sir."

All Might laughed heartily, and clapped Izuku's back.

Izuku turned and walked over to his classmates, still watching him slack jawed.

"Hey guys, good looking outfits!"

Mina snapped out of her stupor first, "Thanks, Midori! Your's is super awesome too!"

"Thanks!..." He chuckled and blushed slightly, and turned to Ochako who was blushing harder than she ever had before.

"H-hey Deku! C-cool suit! I wish I was more specific on the design for mine. It's too tight!" Izuku was taken aback, and blushed harder.

'Oh no, she's gorgeous. And so damn hot…'

He looked away, and noticed Momo, who was blushing just as hard as Ochako.

He stared for a second at the glorious sight in front of him, and then whipped his head around, blushing furiously.

Momo didn't say anything but had a small smile.

'He looked at me…and I'm dressed like this…'

He turned back to look at All Might, who coughed, getting everyone's attention, and began the lesson.

"They say that the clothes make the man, and today, ladies and gentlemen, you look the part!"

He appraised each student quickly, then continued.

"Today, you'll be focusing on Indoor Anti-Personnel Battle Training!" The class tensed up, and started to get pumped.

"Most villain battles observed by the public are outdoors, but according to the statistics, the most heinous of villains are holed up in hideouts, secret lairs, or black market back alleys." He grinned widely and spread his arms.

"Now you're going to split into two teams, heroes vs villains, and face off in Two-on-Two

Mock Battles. Let's get our teams together."

He pulled out a phone and displayed the randomly chosen teams on a hologram.

Heroes VS Villains

Midoriya/Shinso VS Shiozaki/Kaminari

Ashido/Tokoyami VS Jiro/Yaoyorozu

Todoroki/Sero VS Bakugo/Iida

Uraraka/Shoji VS Kendo/Tetsutetsu

Kirishima/Hagakure VS Asui/Tsunotori

Katsuki looked at the list, and glanced sideways at Izuku, smirking.

"Damn, looks like I won't get to beat your ass today."

Izuku grinned at him, "Oh I wouldn't worry, Kacchan, I'm sure you'll get plenty of chances for that."

Tsuyu walked over to Pony and gave a smile and a wave. Pony grinned back and started speaking in broken Japanese.

"Hi Tsuyu, can't wait to start!"

Tsuyu nodded and started speaking to her slowly, coming up with a plan.

Ochako walked over to Mezo and looked up at him.

"Hey Shoji, what do you think? Any ideas?"

Mezo thought for a second, then pulled her aside and started to plan.

Tokoyami walked up to Mina.

"We should discuss a plan. Our opponents will be very cunning."

Mina nodded and pulled the avian to the side

The rest of the groups split up and hung next to each other.

Izuku walked up to Shinso, and immediately could tell he didn't want Izuku as a partner. The look Shinso was giving him wasn't friendly.

'That's a weird feeling I'm getting from him. Resentment? I'll have to ask about it later.' Izuku nodded to Shinso, and stood next to him, turning back to All Might.

"All right! The first teams, go get ready! You've got ten minutes prep time, and then after that the exercise will start!"

Izuku and Shinso walked off to the building, followed by Denki and Ibara.

Once at the building, Denki and Ibara walked in, and the doors closed.

Izuku turned to Shinso, and felt the resentment again.

'Fine. Let's deal with this now.'

"So Shinso, we have two things we need to cover. First is our plan of attack. Second, is what your issue with me is."

Shinso looked up at Izuku surprised. "How did you know? I wasn't making any faces."

Izuku smirked, "Let's call it intuition. Whats wrong?"

Shinso looked at him hard for a second, and detecting that Izuku wasn't going to budge, sighed and turned to face him.

"You have a very powerful and heroic quirk. You are already a shoe-in to be a great hero." He was looking at Izuku with a mix of envy and anger.

Izuku said nothing, prompting Shinso to continue.

"My quirk isn't a heroic quirk. It's Brainwashing. Any response given back to something I say allows me to control people. I've heard it all of my life, how villainous it is, how I need to be careful, how I can't be a hero with such a scary quirk."

Shinso looked down and waited for the usual response.

Izuku's eyes light up in understanding and a smile crossed his face.

"Shinso, I'm sorry that others treated you that way. If it helps, I genuinely believe that your quirk has amazing potential!"

Izuku's grin grew wider, he was getting excited now. His plan coming together.

Shinso looked up at him, dubious.

"Think about it. If All Might were a villain, is there anyone that could stop him?"

Shinso pondered that for a second. "No, not really."

"Yes there is."

Shinso looked up.

"You. You wouldn't even have to fight. Just get him to react and *snap*, he's yours. The amount of good that you could do as a hero would be amazing, Shinso!" Shinso was in disbelief. Someone actually believed in him.

Izuku could see it in his eyes, the self-doubt, the uncertainty.

"Tell you what, I'll prove it to you. A fight that can be won before the fighting starts is best, right?

For this exercise, you use your power to stop our villains before they have a chance to do anything.

Denki and Ibara are very vocal and excitable. I can rile them up and get them excited and flustered. Then, you can swoop in, stopping them in their tracks before they can do anything at all. Sound good? You are running point on this. It hinges on you." Shinso nodded and thought for second.

"I like that idea. I thought you were just going to dominate the exercise."

Izuku smiled and shook his head.

"I know I showed off at the start, but that was something for dramatic flare. Did you see Ibara and Denki's face before they walked in? They are already scared of me. Now, imagine how riled up they will be when they are taken down by you."

Izuku smiled mischievously, "It's going to be a swift and easy win for the Heroes." Shinso couldn't help but return the smile.

'He already had a plan in mind, and adjusted it for me. Huh…'

Izuky stood tall and looked at Shinso with a strong resolute glare.

"Now, Shinso, let's prove that you do belong here. That you are a hero," and Izuku held out his hand.

Shinso looked at it, and smiled. He shook Izuku's hand. "All right then. Let's do it."

Ibara had spread her vines across the room, and ripped up as many floor and ceiling tiles as possible to get access to metal for Denki. Meanwhile, Denki had opened and unlocked some of the doors throughout the building, hoping to stall the heroes while they were searching for the weapon.

Back in the observation room, the rest of the class watched as the countdown timer for the setup period got closer to 0:00.

"All right, students, who do you think is favored to win this exercise? What obstacles do each group face?"

There was a pregnant pause, and then Momo raised her hand and spoke up.

"Sensei, The hero team is more or less unknown. Midoriya can fly and absorb and release energy, but to what extent is unknown. Shinso's quirk is unknown. The heroes are facing villains that have long range attacks, and one that has remote sensory through her hair. The villains face heroes with unknown power sets and abilities."

All Might looked at her, incredulously.

'This girl really knows her stuff!'

"Yes, very good analysis! Many times, heroes need to team up with random partners and they don't know how their Quirks match. That can also be said for villains, though it's usually easier for them, with many heroes' abilities being public knowledge. Now, let's see how things play out."

He turned to the screen, and pressed the intercom button.

"First Round Exercise: Begin!"

Izuku looked up at Shinso at the announcement, and nodded.

"Just like we planned. I'll spook them, then you stop them."

"Sounds good, Midoriya."

Izuku turned to the locked door.

'A good hero minimizes damage.' He looked at the lock on the door. 'Cutting laser'

'Right away, boss.'

A panel on the front of his left gauntlet hissed and pulled back, revealing a small focusing crystal.

A tracking laser light kicked on, and he aimed it directly at the lock.

A small, bright green beam burst out of gauntlet as he squeezed his fingers, heating the lock until it melted out of the door.

He pushed the door open and gestured for Shinso to go inside.

"OK, now for recon. Be back in a flash."

He stood back from the door, and activated his thrusters, launching himself into the air. He began circling the building in a hover stance.

'Avalonn, I need a detailed scan of the building and occupants.'

'On it, boss. I̴n͢it̕i͝a̶li͢zi͏ng spec̕tr̡a̴l ̧an͝d̡ d̢e͘ep̷ ma̧gnet ic sca̕n͏n͢i͘n͏g.̷'

As he swooped around the building, the visor scanned deep into the building, reading the plumbing, electrical, and structural design, and then rendering it on the screen.

'Opponents located. Fourth floor, central room. Detecting massive electrical energy signature and odd plant life.'

'That's definitely them. Routing options?'

'They've sealed most of the access ways, and left the main staircase open. They also knocked out the lights in many areas. An apparent attempt to trap you, most likely with Shiozaki's Vines.'

'Agreed. So, let's make an access.'

"Shinso, they are on the fourth floor, central room. On my way down."

" Understood ," came the reply through the earpiece

He swooped back to the front of the building, and landed just inside the doorway. He walked to the staircase and looked up, seeing faint movement near the top.

He turned back to Shinso.

"Ok so here's what we are going to do. I'm going to make a hole on the third floor, directly underneath them. That should get them worked up. They know walls won't stop me, so they are counting on Shiozaki's vines, but I'd be willing to bet they aren't heat resistant." He turned back to jump up the staircase.

"Follow me up, but go to the fourth floor, and get ready at the door. Use that line you mentioned.

It'll confuse the hell out of them, and they'll respond. Then capture them while I grab the weapon."

Shinso smiled and shook his head slightly, 'This is going to be too easy. Izuku made it too easy.'

Izuku bent down, and focused some power into his fist and punched the ground, hard, sending a shockwave through the building.

'And now they know we are here. Time for some shock and awe.'

Ibara and Denki were watching the two doors as the room crawled with Ibara's Vines.

Then, they felt the building shake.

They looked at each other.

"Uh...is Midoriya going to bring the building down with us inside?" Denki looked terrified at the idea.

Ibara shook her head, "Midoriya wouldn't do something so reckless. He is a hero, and a hero never causes damage when he can help it."

"Yeah, I guess."

Then, another massive blast, right below them this time.

Denki leaped up from the floor and squealed.

Ibara lifted herself off the ground, panicking.

Then, there was a knock at the right side door.

On the third floor, Izuku had punched in one of the locked doors, not having time to melt the lock.

'This is it, right?'

'Yes, boss. Villains are directly above you. The weapon is three meters to your left, at the 10 o'clock position.'

'Good. Let's begin.'

He began by dumping power into his palms, and then lifting off the floor gently, he reached out and touched the concrete ceiling.

He began pumping huge amounts of heat into concrete, making the iron particles set in the stone red hot. After a couple seconds, the concrete began to soften.

He let go, and then focused, and threw a punch at the ceiling, slamming the concrete with a powerful blast, weakening the concrete around the weapons greatly.

Then he started systemically hitting the concrete in a ring around the weapons base.

'One more good hit.'

"Ok, Shinso. Show time."

The knock at the door made Denki jump and look around.

"Pizza delivery."

Denki and Ibara both jumped at the voice. It sounded like Izuku, but he was downstairs.

"What-" Both said at once, and then their eyes slid out of focus. The vines around the room retreated back to their owner.

Shinso felt the control lock into place, and he smiled.

"Now, Kaminari, open the door."

A second later, the door opened, Denki behind the door, hand on the handle.

"Both of you sit down." And they sat.

Shinso took the capture tap and started wrapping their hands together, right as the floor around the weapon dropped out.

Izuku threw the final punch, and the weakened concrete gave way. As the weapon fell, Izuku grabbed it, and stopped its fall, and then set it down gently.

He then jumped up the hole he made, and smiled broadly at Shinso, standing next to their captured villains.

"HERO TEAM WINS!" came All Might's announcement.

Izuku turned to Shinso, and smiled broadly.

"You see? I told you that you would make a good hero."

He started chuckling, "We won on both accounts, without even fighting the villains. All thanks to your amazing quirk, Shinso."

Shinso looked at him and smiled. "Yeah. I guess you are right."

He released control on Ibara and Denki, and they woke up.

"Aw man, already? That was too dang fast! We didn't even really get to do anything," Denki said, exasperated.

After the heroes released Denki and Ibara, they walked to the observation room.
