1 Just a Game

Standing in the void of the space I watch the battlefield around me.

The space was divided in two sides.

One by the elites of the army of my planet.

The Other side compounded by many different "creatures" of different types and forms, these were the Devourers and compounded the enemy's army.

The two sides fought each other, coloring the black space with the colors of war.

Then I returned my sight to my own enemy.

"This is the end." I said while I looked at the eyes monster that looked like some type of humanoid ant of three meters of high in front of me.

"Screeech!"

The monster, that really can't be really called an ant because of the various characteristics of many organisms that it acquired, released a shrill scream that seemed to be taken from the hell itself.

After hearing what I think were the last words of the creature (or maybe some kind of curse), I returned the favor releasing his head from his neck.

After I killed the enemy's leader, a feeling of ecstasy tried to run through my body but before It started to expand through my body, I suppressed it canceling the process.

The silence covered the battlefield during an instant.

Then, the Devourers army lost all coordination and cohesion and charged as crazies against my army.

The next happened as expected, my army suffered a a little damages from the crazy charge of the Devourers, but they were completely annihilated due of loosing their leader.

[Congratulations! You have slayed the "Lord of Devourers" successfully! ]

[ You earned the title "Nemesis of the Devourers" ]

[ Your existencial power increases ]

[ Congratulations! You completed the Secret Mission "Rejecting the Devourers" with a 110% of success rate! ]

[ Your existencial power increases ]

A feeling of ecstasy that I was suppressing during the battle invaded my body as a lightning as the messages of the system appeared in my eyes.

It was an incredible feeling that can be only described as a lightning of pleasure racing through my body.

The feeling gradually faded and my conscience recovered from the hit.

I took the corpse of the "Devourers Lord" and when I touched it I felt something that was "calling me" inside the body.

I buried my hand inside the chest of the corpse, and there I found it.

A Red blood colored crystal emitting an overwhelming sensation of power.

Confused about the appearance of a strange crystal inside the body of the Lord, I decided to check it with the system.

[##### Crystal ]

[ Do you want to absorb?]

[ Yes/No ]

I pressed "No" and then I realized the battle already ended and my troops are waiting for me.

" The battle is over! Return and prepare for the victory party ". I ordered and my voice crossed the void without problems and resonated in the space.

After I said my order the spaceships started to move and return to the planet, I entered in one of them and then the float disappeared from the from the battlefield as if they teleported.

In the year 2XXX, the technology bloomed and the dream of the "true" virtual reality finally became real as the with immersive worlds of the games appeared.

But even in the middle of the bloom of many games of this type, one of them shined more than others like a shining star in a dark night.

The game named "Ruling Civilizations" was the hit of the new era.

The amazing graphics and absolutely complete immersion that it provides made the people call it the "Reality above reality".

In the Game "Ruling Civilizations" You are a ruler in charge of raising your civilization in all the different ways possible.

You start the game creating a personified race within the limits of the first grade.

After creating your race, you asume a similar form to theirs and you acquire the duty of making them grow by any different methods (Either direct or indirect) within which the most important are guide the evolution of the race and increase their technology levels.

The game gave a lot of liberty on the process of personalize and evolve your race so that in the upper grades you can find a lot of different and varied races with many different powers and abilities.

And the technology that you can develop has no end or limits.

But the most important thing was its exclusivity and influence in the real world.

The game was overwhelmingly popular, but not everyone can play it.

From the total population of the humanity just 1% was able to play the game as a Ruler due to the compatibility with the game, and from that 1% just 1% more was able to raise their civilizations properly.

This means that just the 0.01% of the humanity was able to release the true potential of this game, while the masses are able to play the game joining it as a member of one of the races that the Ruler players created.

And in the case of a Ruler being slayed in the game either due to the Destruction of his civilization or the attack of an enemy Ruler or its equivalent, They are unable to return to the game as a ruler anymore.

But even despite this conditions, the game won a unprecedented popularity in all the world.

The powerful Rulers where like celebrities in the real world having a lot of fame and fans.

Plus even if the game was a game, the scientists discovered that much of the technology in the game could be replicated in the real world because its realistic principles.

This discovery made that the governments of the world and science laboratories pay tons of money in hire the rulers so that they order their people to develop specific pieces of technology to be replicated in the reality.

This make that the talented Rulers were considered as important parts of the society.

No one knows who developed the game because this just appeared suddenly and they were no registers of the creation of such game in any company.

Although some of the most talented rulers allege that they received a message when they were in their capsules inviting them to play the game this remains today as just an urban myth without any proof.

But I know is real.

Because it happened to me.
