13 ch. 13 Dinner with the Vampires

Last Sunday of November 1985- 5:30pm

" You look like a lazy bum, Dear." Nana said with a smile as she knit away a red scarf. She's just joking, of course.

We're currently watching the television. We are both sitting on the couch.

Nana is sitting on the right end knitting scarfs she will be giving away in Christmas, while I'm sitting lazily on the left end side with my hands on my stomach and feet on the ottoman.

In front of me is the TV, a good 3 meters from my face. Beside it, is a bowl of popcorn and a pitcher of coke with ice.

I'm changing channels by using my mind and eating a piece of popcorn by levitating it into my mouth. A while later, a golf ball size sphere of coke did the same.* Burpp*

I'm seriously training hard.

When Nana finished the scarf, she glanced at the front door and said, "Just come in, Carlisle and Esmé, I see you brought the whole family."

The front door open and seven people enter the living room. I stare at them in surprise and realize who they were. The Cullens.

'F*ck!'. Nana told me some vampire friends of hers will visit today, but I didn't see this one coming.

They looked exactly like in the movies. I'm not seeing Bella for obvious reasons.

I felt chills for some reason. I tried to look around and realized, they keep staring at me without blinking.

"This is my grandson, Marshall. Say hello to the guests, Dear." Nana introduced me.

I stood by my Nana's side and waived at them and said, "Hello, nice to meet you all. Uhm…. I know I'm cute, but can you not stare at me like you want to eat me?"

*Toink!*

Nana hit the back of my head, "Sorry about that. He is a bit of a comedian."

After the awkward introduction, we had dinner.

I cooked, of course, trying my new recipes. I made mushroom risotto and pan seared steak. For dessert, I earlier made egg tarts. I'm giving myself an imaginary pat on the back and thought, 'Seriously, cooking is easy. Why the heck does cooking shows make it look like the chefs are in a war zone.'

Rosalie was following me around the kitchen, trying to help me. She has a loving smile and had an expression that she wants to kidnap me.

Emmett is by the fridge looking at our interaction, but he's mostly focused on Rosalie.

Carlisle and Esme were with Nana catching up. From what I heard, they were visiting London and accidentally met Francis. Edward read a passing thought from him and found out Dora was nearby. They just want to say hi.

The Cullens, more specifically Carlisle, are the only blood sucking vampire that are friends with Dora because of their adherence to a strict 'vegetarian' diet.

What made me uncomfortable with our guess are their unblinking stares. Specially the three seated on the dinner table looking at me.

Jasper looks constipated. Alice has a hand on his shoulder with a questioning face at me. And Edward looks like he wants to bore a hole in my head.

From time to time, I can hear the sound of windchimes. Good to know Nana's shield is working. I'm pretty certain he can just reach to other people's surface thoughts, or else he'll be in pain when he bumps in to my diamond shield.

From Alice's inquiring gaze, I can already tell that I'm interfering with her powers. I conclude her abilities are much weaker than Nana's.

Remembering her reaction around the wolves and Renesmee in the movies, her abilities show some limitations against special species.

Looking back at Edward's stone-cold face reminds me why I didn't want to learn legilimency. I truly believe I won't have a peace of mind or even normal interaction with those around me.

As someone who grew up in the boom of social media that accompanied by the infamous 'Comments Section', I know better than to want to know what others are really thinking.

If I really need to look into other people's thoughts, I have Eyes of Siri.

I just need to stare at them and asked Siri what they are thinking about or things about their past and present actions.

No need to search through their brains. I might stumble into gross stuff that I don't want to see.

When we had dinner, it was only me and Nana eating.

The vamps are just having red wine, which I'm pretty sure is animal blood.

I now know why commercials use blue dyes for sanitary napkins. Knowing what you're looking at is blood is very off-putting.

When it was time to say goodbye, Esme and Rosalie gave me hugs and kisses. Emmett ruffled my hair and said, "thank you".

Alice just nodded while holding Jasper's arm back.

Carlisle pat my head and said, "If you every visit the US just look for us."

And Edward just kept looking at me. This guy really needs to learn the word "privacy".

Then they left around 9:00pm.

I got ready for bed and when I was about to close my eyes I remembered something regarding Edward in the movies, 'didn't his attraction to Bella started when he realized he can't read her mind? Oh, No!! I think I made him gay!?!'
