9 The Prison Break

Calvin: "I'm not here to play games, don't waste my time."

Ilyes: "Just, have some faith in me!"

Calvin: "Really, can I trust you on this?"

Ilyes: "Yes, you can."

Afterward, Calvin had figured out that the only thing where he could copy the message left by his master was his white boxer shorts.

Calvin:"(I know, it's disgusting. But I've got no choice.)"

The next day, Calvin hadn't any work. He was rewarded for all the previously hard work he had done, The authorities gave him a day off. Calvin spent his day resting in his cell while Ilyes would have to go to work like usual, it was the perfect opportunity for Calvin to copy down the message without Ilyes noticing.

Calvin lied under the steel bed, he removed his *thing*, and he wrote the weird paragraph using the pen.

Calvin: "It's so cold."

When he finished writing, he wiped out the entire message, he dressed himself up and he sat down for a while waiting for the lunchtime. A few days later, the awaited night had come. Calvin has prepared himself mentally and physically, Ilyes came back from the WC and told Calvin to wait until 08:00 PM.

Calvin: "So what's the plan, mister genius?"

Ilyes: "You are not going to believe it!"

Calvin: "I'm waiting."

Ilyes: "Look, in this prison. There are dozens of ways to escape, but the most simple one is..."

Calvin: "is...?"

Ilyes: "Is just to walk away."

Calvin: "...Why did I trust you..."

In reality, Ilyes wasn't wrong. The most important factor in this kind of plan is timing. Since most prisons are overcrowded, most guards are overworked. So waiting for them to slip up can make all the difference in one's escape, as they lack experience and don't know what to look for. If one is a smooth talker, the plan is simply to walk away. Most prisons escape involves simply walking out at precisely the right moment or impersonating someone who's allowed to leave. Ilyes proceed to explain the plan to Calvin.

Calvin: "Well, that might actually work. (It's not like I have a choice anyway.)"

Ilyes: "Ok, then. Let's wait until the guard comes to pick us up for dinner, that's when we will strike."

A few hours later, the guard arrived at their cell. As soon as he opened the steel door, Ilyes tackled him from the side and crushed his head to the wall. Which of course made the guard lose consciousness.

Calvin: "You didn't have to go that far!"

Ilyes: "Don't worry, he will wake up two days later."

Ilyes proceed to remove the unconscious guard from all his cloth, keys, and ID card.

Calvin: "What are you doing?"

Ilyes: "Simple, I will impersonate this guard, go to the guard's room, pick his stuff, come back to here, you wear his civilian clothes and we will take as a guard and a visiting attorney."

Calvin: "Oh! How did you come up with such a plan?"

Ilyes: "I watched a YouTube video."

Calvin:"...I should have known..."

Ilyes seemed to be very proud of that, he asked Calvin to turn around because he was about to change which made the atmosphere quite awkward.

Ilyes: "You can turn now."

Calvin: "Ilyes, we are running out of time. You should go look for the cloths while I will take care of this guard."

Ilyes: "Roger that."

Just like that, Ilyes left the cell. Calvin picked the unconscious guard up and lied him down on his steel bed and cover him up so that any other guard who would pass by would see from a small window in the steel door that a person is sleeping. A few minutes later, Ilyes came back with a few cloths.

Ilyes: "Take this, I think it will do the trick."

Calvin: "Ok I'll wear it."

Then Calvin looked at Ilyes.

Calvin: "Can you turn around?"

Again, the awkward atmosphere. After finishing, Calvin asked Ilyes.

Calvin: "So, the next step?"

Ilyes: "Right now, almost everyone is at the canteen including the guards and prisoners. What we need to do is to switch to the side where only the general public is allowed then we will walk out from the entrance."

Calvin: "Let's go!"

Calvin and Ilyes made their way to the other side where some people are visiting their relatives.

Calvin: "Why are they so many people? The visiting hours are supposed to end at 04:00 PM."

Ilyes: "I don't know either but this will make it a lot easier for us."

Ilyes and Calvin decided then to go out of prison. On their way, they met another guard.

The Guard: "Where are you heading?"

Ilyes: "Excuse me, this is a very important person and also a friend. He is a visiting attorney, I'm going to escort him out."

The Guard: "Oh, my bad. Proceed."

Suddenly, the siren took off, everyone panicked and asked about what was happening. The guard went to the people and tried to calm them.

The Guard: "Please, calm everyone. There is nothing to fear of, just a technical issue."

Then the guard went back and calmly addressed Ilyes.

The Guard: "Looks like there are prisoners who try to make their way out. Please, escort this important guest to the exit. Take my spot as soon as you come back and don't let anyone out, I'm going to assist the others."

Ilyes: "Understood."

Ilyes and Calvin made their way out, Calvin was a bit surprised that the other guard didn't recognize him nor Ilyes. Then Ilyes pulled out the keys he got from the unconscious guard.

Calvin: "Aren't they the guard's key?"

Ilyes: "Yes, they are. Among them, there is a key car. This dude owns a Tesla!"

Calvin: "No, I'm not a thief. I'm not going to do that."

Ilyes: "Come on, the cops will show up. We need to go as far as possible as quickly as possible, we will eventually return the car after."

Calvin: "Guess it can't be helped."

Ilyes: "Then take it."

Calvin: "What?"

Ilyes: "The key."

Calvin: "I don't have a driving license."

Ilyes: "Me neither."

Calvin: "Oh bum, why do always make my life so easier."

Ilyes: "Ow! I have an idea! Teslas are automatics for sure so that means it won't be too hard to drive. Plus, I played a lot of racing games, So I have experience."

Calvin: "Well, let's risk everything!"

Ilyes: "Hell Yeah!"

Calvin and Ilyes went to the parking where they found the car. It was a Tesla Model X, a black one. They got in and went out with it.

Calvin: "You drive pretty well."

Ilyes: "Really? That's literally my first time!"

Calvin: "You might be a driving genius."

Ilyes: "You said it, I'm going to speed up!"

Calvin: "No! I want to live long enough to see my grandchildren graduate from college!"

They laughed about it.

Ilyes: "You know, our escape wasn't that exciting compared to the ones we see on the movies."

Calvin: "Yeah, it was based on a YouTube video."

Ilyes: "*haha* How to escape from prison."

Calvin: "Do you know the irony in all of this?"

Ilyes: "No, I don't"

Calvin: "The plan actually worked."

At this point, Ilyes and Calvin entered the city.

Calvin: "So what's the next step?"

Ilyes: "We have to get out of the country as fast as we can, our best bet is China."

Calvin: "China?"

Ilyes: "Yeah, many countries an extradition treaty with the U.S stating. If they catch a criminal in their country, they will send them back to here to serve his time. China doesn't have such a treaty as the U.S isn't willing to mess with such power over two lowly prisoners like us."

Calvin: "Yeah but how we will do all of this? We are wanted."

Ilyes: "I have a friend, an important one. He will arrange for us two new identities and two plane tickets to Hong Kong."

Calvin: "That won't do, there's the barrier of language."

Ilyes: "You will learn Chinese and they have people who understand English. Right now, we should go to your house so that you can pick up your things. But I have to warn you, after a month there, you may be on your own."

Calvin: "What will you do?"

Ilyes: "I have something to accomplish. If you choose to stick with me, you can't quit no matter what."

Calvin: "As I said earlier, Let's risk everything."

Ilyes: "thanks, bud."

Calvin: "No problem... Don't tell me that you learned all of this from a YouTube video?"

Ilyes: "You know me too well."

Afterward, Calvin and Ilyes arrived at Calvin's house.

Ilyes: "Is this your house?"

Calvin: "Yeah, pretty nice ha?"

Ilyes: "Yes, I admit it. But you forgot to turn the light off."

Calvin: "My bad. The bill will be spicy this month."

Ilyes: "Wait, you live alone?"

Calvin: "Yes, why?"

Ilyes: "Because from here, I can see that there are people inside!"
